Look to blunt and honest with you boys and girls, even if Proton and Perodua were to make EVs, be ready to see more Geelys, Toyotas/Daihatsus and get ready to see more.... Recalls. And both brands are just going to cutting cost on some useful, modern and basic features like LED lights, backup camera, front facing camera, adaptive cruise control etc u name it . And the only reason why both of them are doing well it's because they depend so much on our domestic market. U think they will do well in foreign markets? in conclusion, I don't have high hopes for neither of them. 😐

Most are gonna complain still expensive , and while it is now a half baked argument , keep in mind most EVs are still above RM100k. Most of our salary are more affordable to cars below that figure so either Loke needs to lower down further the rate further or stop ban for foreign manufacturers to bring in less than RM100k models now. Perodua coming out an EV model in the future is not a solution. Furthermore the charging infra is also being ignored. That is no use of lowering the tax rate if you are not going to rapidly build up the facilities.

Don't care about the road tax, still gonna drive a ICE/hybrid for the next 20 years, until they can make ev produce REAL motor sounds that sound good, trust me, they will hike the road tax once adoption increases, hybrid is the way to go if you don't want to pay gomen. No Road Tax for EV for 5 years to get all Malaysians to change to EV because the government no need to pay billions on subsidy for petrol and need not worry of losing coming election. Adding to that, may I suggest that the government overtrade few thousands for any old car to convert to any EV for only once within this year meaning no more petroleum subsidy come next year.
