I know your video is about a year old, but I just wanted to say THANK YOU SO MUCH for showing how this method is done. Your very thorough and up front example helped me tremendously. Again. I say THANK YOU SO MUCH! Take care!
Thanks so much for this video! As I watch your video it's super cute! I am guessing the camera guy is hubby, lol I could see my hubby saying some of the same things to me. I'm hungry was my favorite and your laugh. My setup up is similar to yours love Ikea! If it's not a little messy then you are not crafting!
I get it. still the sublimation ink isn't acting like sublimation ink when used with film and the adhesive powder but it is a cool way to do the dtf and inexpensive too.
Hi. I’m new to sublimation. I’ve done quite a few sublimation shirts on white fabrics but trying to explore on darker fabrics. Thank you for the detailed instructions on this video. What dtf brand paper & powder did you say you used?
Good instructions. Side questio. How do you attach your teflon sheet to the top platen of your heat press. I have one and can't figure it out. Thx for providing thiese instructions on DTF application.
I tried this with HTVront HTV and my design looks fuzzy,…do you have an idea why it didn’t work? Do I need to use sister easeweed like delonda and crystal ann>? Or Cricut?
Thanks!! Where did you get the bottom Grey mat? I see where we can use HTV Ront dark sublimation vinyl with no need for white HTV..Have you done tutorial yet?
How was you able to add the cricut app to the think lab top. I have the same lab top and I wasn’t successful in downloading the cricut app on to the my computer
you should dry the the htv that you just sublimate onto, you can skip the entire dtf step and just cut the image onto the sublimation htv then press .. done..
Oh man. I thought the powder was kind of like a white base to help the color pop on dark and maybe black shirts. Imagine doing 50 shirts and having to cut the HTV. I’m lazy lol
When creating something for a customer I try to give them the best product possible. Now with that being said, at times we are our own worst critic. Things we notice the customer will not. So I would say its a balancing act. For this project inparticular, I do not sell hack items as it is a bit labor intensive. For me, hack items are best for small quantities or personal use.
It’s a teflon heat press cover. You can get on amazon for about 23 bucks. They help protect the heat plate from mistakes such as forgetting to use butcher paper when sublimating or I recently used transfer tape by mistake under the press and it melted on the top plate
@@CraftableThings cool use of the cricut though. Have not put ours into use yet as we have been doing POD. But we have a full silkscreen printing shop and sublimation printer with presses and a DTG machine plus a 15 need embroidery machine. Just haven't gotten them back online.
sublimation ink is NOT transparent. And you are not sublimating. Yes you cannot sublimate black material because the ink in sublimation dyes the fabric and it just won't show up well if at all. what you are doing is dtf where you are joining the film to the fabric
@@CraftableThings no and it cannot be opaque as it dyes the fabric unlike dtf which bonds to the fabric similar to plastisol ink in screenprinting. The sublimation ink when heated become gaseous and in that state permeates the fabric strands dying them what ever color it is and dark colors it still dyes it but cannot be seen very well if at all. I have seen some darker colors take a lighter color sublimation and show which on some designs looks cool like a vintage style or faded design. But overall it isn't a good method on dark colors.
I’ve been doing sublimation for years and I’ve never seen dark colors take light colored sublimation designs. If it isn’t opaque, then it is transparent as I stated. Plastisol inks can be both transparent or opaque depending on the ink. These 2 print methods and inks are also different. Screen printing ink sits on top of the fabric while sublimation embeds into the fabric.
@@CraftableThings Yeah Ive been doing sublimation since 1984 and screen printing about the same time. Again, not transparent just not visible due to the inability to dye the fabric and show on the darker colors, It may appear transparent to a degree but is still there just cannot show. I have seen some plastisol that is clear used as a base to thin or mix ink and used it before but plastisol by it's very nature is not transparent. Enjoyed your video BTW, hope you and your family are very blessed.

Yup if its not a mess you ain’t working
It turned out pretty!

thanks, friend!
Love this video may I ask where did you get that cover for your heat press❤

Thank so so much
Looks amazing. Did you offset your design?
Yes, I did!! Terrell wasn’t patient and I was taking long to send him that clip.
Just stumbled across your channel and loving it!!! New Sub!!!
Thanks for subbing!
Hi. I’m new to sublimation. I’ve done quite a few sublimation shirts on white fabrics but trying to explore on darker fabrics. Thank you for the detailed instructions on this video. What dtf brand paper & powder did you say you used?
Cendale. You can look at their products on amazon

Did you get the right size?
Its not a regular teflon sheet but instead its a teflon cover that wraps around the platen
I’ve always wondered if this was possible. Did you do a wash test?
Yup looks good

amzn.to/3XF2yWF. I haven't done one yet. But Crafting with Delonda recently did a video on it.
I’m curious to see how well it washes.
Mine are holding well 🎉 how about you Patrice?
Beautiful shirt
thanks for watching, Ms. Roslyn!
Great tip for it to show
Thank u
I have even done it on dollar tree iron on 🎉
😎
how long did the print last
❤🦋 Thanks for sharing
thanks for watching, Ms. Sonya!
Did you mention your printer is ET-4700? I tried it using my SC-F100 printer and I can see the roller stains on the film
Yea its a 4700, I am not sure why you are seeing them
Great Video
Hi, Thank you for your video. Can you please advise if we can use the Htvront auto press for pressing 3D puff or if a manual press is better? Thanks
I dont think it matters
I think it’s interesting that you can’t sublimate directly onto regular htv but you can using the dtf hack🤔
it probably has everything to do with the adhesive absorbing the ink ink.
Hi, Im new to all this. Can you tell me what htv stands for? Is it iron on vinyl or plain vinyl? Thanks!
Heat transfer vinyl. Its iron on!
Very clear. Thank you!
Glad it was helpful!
I tried this also on a black shirt but adhesive is all around the image. Do you know what I could have done wrong? Can the shirt be salvaged?
I dont think so
Thanks for sharing
thanks for watching!!!

I downloaded from the Cricut website.
Thank so much I will try it
Did you put regular Htv or sublimation htv;;
Thanks...
regular HTV
I've lost count how many times I have put the vinyl in the the cutter upside down !!
Happens to us all
Good video thanks looks good ❤
Thank you too for watching
Where did you get the top cover for your heat press?
Link in description. Check sizes
Hello im just wondering if there is a follow up video on the wash? How did it hold up?
No video, but held up past the first wash
Can i use my epson wf-7310 printer??
To sublimate you need an ecotank printer and it has to be specifically used for sublimation.
You cannot use it for other things
you should dry the the htv that you just sublimate onto, you can skip the entire dtf step and just cut the image onto the sublimation htv then press .. done..
we've done that, also. Thanks of watching!

I think it looks great. So helpful. Thanks again!
You are so welcome!
good job
I am an a perfectionist and i noticed there are white parts the cricut did not cut out. Did you have customers who fell over white parts?

Cuteness🥰
thanks, Allaina!
How do u cut it in the explorer air 2 if dont do print and cut? That the problem i have.
Go back and make it basic cut ❤
can you use clear HTV for the DTF hack?
Not with dark shirts. It's needs the white behind it.
@@craftabilities8805 ok Thank you so much
What is that that you have on the top part of your heat press? I have the same one so I’m curious

Type in heat press cover on amazon. Then look for the size that will fit your press
Hi Patrice!
Hey girl! Thanks for watching!
You used sublimation ink @ 375 for 25 sec?
For this hack 325 for 25sec
What happened to the wash......?
Looked good
👀
Hey Tshirt chick
Siiiinnnnnnnn!
How did it hold up in the washer
It was fine, we just got to see long term now
TFS💙

❤🧡💛
Nice but to time consuming tho. With extra steps with powdering and then drying dtf after printing .
what inkdo u use

dtf is not sublimation. two completely different processes and materials.
I'm pretty sure that I did not say that DTF is sublimation. This is a hack.

This isn't a "hack" and I get tired of hearing that word. It is simply a method of doing it.
