Absolutely, I’ll never forget the time I went to Circuit des Remparts in France about 12 years ago when I was a fresh faced 18 year old and got chatting to an elder gentleman at a bar who seemed to have some amazing car stories. I’d probably been there half an hour in which time several people had kept interrupting us to introduce themselves to this guy and I asked him why all these people kept coming up to us (thinking he was one of the event organisers)....well....turned out I’d be freely chatting away with Stirling Moss!!!! I think he was just really grateful that someone had been talking with him about our mutual love of cars than because of who he was.

Years ago I worked for an "Indycar driving experience" (Driving 101) at Fontana. Before a customer got their drive they would take a class of them around the track in a 9 passenger van.
One of their favorite tricks was to go into turn one at about 90-95 mph and the driver would turn around and talk to the class all the way through the corner. 😂 The track is so wide and long that you can easily tell where you are just looking out the back. I'm not sure any of the customers (victims) heard anything they were told throughout the whole corner! 🤣

He showed me and a buddy around shelby america for 2hrs on a private tour. Just goes to show what can happen when you stop the right "old man" in the hallway and ask a question about some cars. Oh yea. Also got to sit in Carol's pearsonal commuter car he sold this guy. Amazing time. I'd love to tell the story on Vinwiki😁. Much more to it.

I was Carroll's limo driver at Indy during May of 1991. One evening I'm to take Carroll and Sam Posey, the former driver and broadcaster, downtown from the old Speedway Motel to dinner at the famous St. Elmos steak house. Right before Carroll & Sam walked out of the motel my limo, a stretch Lincoln, dies and won't re-fire. So here I am hood up on this limo trying to figure out if I can find some issue when Carroll comes walking up. I said don't worry Mr. Shelby I have another car on the way to take you to dinner, but hey you're an old Ford guy...what do you thing is wrong with it, and he got a big kick out of that. If memory serves, it was like $10.33 for the ticket. 1995 - Bush, Weezer, Toadies, Birdmen of Alcatra, Johnny Socko (outstanding local ska band) or 2000 with Stone Temple Pilots, Green Day, Fuel, Papa Roach, P.O.D., & Disturbed. Well Jay Leno DID say that everytime he was by the garage he was ALWAYS trying to sell something lol and a 160 for him is like 60 for us, also I bet he didnt mention the dodge durango parts on the chassis now did he lol like I love the viper, but Yikes were they primitive, like hell I'm surprised their isnt a market for refitting the early RT/10's with the doors from the latter ones just so you could have some sort of a way roll up your window and lock your door lol

My old man once met Richard Petty at North Wilksboro I believe. He was busy trying to get a autograph from a driver we were loosely related to when a man walks up behind him and starts a conversation, my dad being somewhat destracted doesn't really look back but is having this conversation for like 5, 6 minutes. Finally he asks my dad something and he turns around and low and behold Richard Petty is standing right there.

If you have to choose between safety and speed, choose safety.
At the speed you need to be anywhere close to a record, you don't get second chances from a mistake.
