I was in Gaugemasters Ford, yesterday, buying an R8077 express point ( so my LIMA class 40 can use the MPD/Locoshed. ) . I admired the latest releases on display (Turbomotive etc). Cheapest was a Railroad Range Mallard @ 150 quid. Dearest depends on the size of one’s wallet - 350 quid buys a nice A3 Scotsman with double tender! I will get more fun out of spending 50 quid on some parts at Tolwoth Train Show this coming weekend. The result will be a detailed Battle of Britain or West Country - its amazing what a lick of paint and a few transfers can accomplish! Once a year my pension goes up by 5% ( same as thousands of other people) then the Government takes back 2.5% in tax (same as thousands of others). That is why I enjoy your RUclips posts. Kindest regards.

Gaugemaster is epic, as long as you have a lottery win in your back pocket lol. The Railroad range now has too many add ons, they need to be below £100, of course when you are charging £300+ then £150 seems reasonable. Glad you enjoy what we do and thanks for watching and supporting

Update … I ordered the kit to be shipped to the USA. Shipping is a bit of a premium but the finished product will be worth it. The ability to split the building in half to make two low relief sections is priceless. 😊

Great review Mike, really pleased to hear Metcalf recognised the value of your channel.
Thanks for sharing this with us, as soon as i saw the thumbnail i thought, 'ohhh, that looks interesting for a kow relief factory building!'. I'll be having a look at that in OO,. Hopefully I've got enough space 🤞

Hi Mike that look's great! Not only is it a fine looking kit when it's finished it's a really nice thing to work on building Metcalfe kits.I would say 95% of my buildings are Metcalfe. But as you said you must take your time and read the instructions,i have tried to rush one before and that was a nightmare! But value for money and enjoyment you cant really go wrong.

Hi Mike, great review and agree on versatility, it really works well on that mini layout. I have cut their buildings in half to make low relief models - will save me some time. I will look up that pen for dealing with the white edges. An easy way is to use a 0.5mm HB propelling pencil and run it along, or for the red brick work I run in matching colour acrylic paint, a little more tricky! Their instructions are top notch, deviate from them at your peril. Also kits are really strong and durable due to the two or tree layers of lamination and reinforcing they use. Best regards Stephen

Wow, Metcalfe has all the options for a innovative creation of an N gauge back scene. Thanks for sharing this exciting kit. I have a switching layout that this would be a perfect addition; and yes, such versatility. Just love the extra brick sheet and other pieces. Metcalfe seems to understand the hobbyist 😀

I must say that is a terrific effort from Metcalf! Superb options and even spare bits to adjust the model as you see fit, what more could you ask for? 🤔
I may even come to invest in one myself at some point as a warehouse backdrop for a works halt/foundry/urban MPD that I am toying around with. It will be OO so I am hoping much of the scenic section will be covered in one fell swoop! 😎
Oh, and good luck with the auction! Someone stands to get a right bargain there! 🤩
    Cheers 👍🍀🍻

  • @mauricekerrigan6759

This kit was a little disappointing as I didn't build mine in "low relief" - I joined the two halves together and the roofs don't match up! (the lines on the "felt" roof don't line up. I had to replace my roof with a single piece of their "tarmac" card. Metcalfe apologise for this in their instructions and promise to sort this issue in a future print re-run.

Metcalfe isn't at all like Ikea. Metcalfe stuff is actually good. I'm sitting at an Ikea desk, and I can guarantee you, if Metcalfe made a desk at 1:1, it'd be a damned sight better than this thing.
