I am sick to death of hearing - tough childhood, bad marriage, drug problem act as an excuse to violate children. Not one reason except to hang on to a POS man. Just for that.

I absolutely agree. I definitely didn't have an ideal childhood. I was addicted to fentanyl, heroin, and pills for years. I've been in some really shitty relationships with men in my past. However
I have and would never do anything to harm a child. Especially my own. However, it's what their lawyers use as a defense at trial, and it's an excuse when it comes to their parole hearings. I've been sober for fifteen years now. I got clean when I found out I was pregnant with my beautiful daughter. I'm now with my husband, and he is an absolutely amazing person.

I want the board to stop focusing on subdtances as if it's a valid reason for a person to violate others, especially children. A predator might as well say a demon caused it.
Exactly!! I know several ppl who are addicts and they never hurt a child or anyone else. Getting high doesn't cause people to abuse kids...they do it because they're demons.

The warden said she doesn’t have the same pattern of offenses now that she’s in jail- um… there are no kids in jail. How many male sex offenders have we seen with minimal to no write-ups? These people prey on those who are younger, weaker, and vulnerable. They can’t get away with their type of crimes in prison. So, who CARES that she’s a “wel behaved prisoner,”??! This hearing really upset me.
It matters. Someone who continues to show anti-social behavior in prison is probably gonna end up coming right back to the prison. It also shows that they aren't ready for parole.

I can’t imagine what it does to a young boy to have been violated by his own mother. She was not even able to verbalize any understanding of the lifelong damage she has caused.

What blows my mind is that they didn't take her children away from her or prevent her from contacting her children. So if you're a mother who sexually abuses your children in Louisiana don't count on the state to protect from her, she gets an all access pass for future contact.

I’ve just watched the 2nd hearing and she’s definitely been coached and told to dumb it down. Imo she’s still a threat. If someone told me I’d get a beating if I didn’t do these horrific things to poor innocent children, I’d take a beating every time.

According to the podcast, she couldn't remember all of the names of all the victims, and the investigator had a hard time finding all the victims, partly because of the passage of time and partly because many victims were low income/poverty-stricken and constantly moving month to month.
That’s very strange that she didn’t get more years in orison( now knowing there were 20 victims. This severe illness is evil. I believe God alone could change her thinking and behavior.

She was a victim of domestic abuse but that can never be an excuse for what she did to her son. She blames everything on her partner. She disgusts me. The parole board seem to focus on her being a victim and her substance abuse. What about her son? What she did will affect her son for the rest of his life. It may effect his relationship with his own kids and his wife. I’m 56 and still have nightmares and flashbacks of what happened to me when I was 8, monsters like this woman should never be free again.

I was abused by my x there is nothing I wouldn't have done to save my children. No one would ever hurt them in any way. Me putting up with the abuse is different than my children getting hurt and I have learned that they were still being hurt by watching what happened to me. So glad I put a End to it many years ago.

Same. I was abused on and off for 17 years by my ex and never let my children get physically hurt but the mental damage that was done by what they witnessed was just as harmful. With a lot of love and counseling, they are both successful adults (ages 29 and 21)

I took issue with her saying that the way she's going to not offend against children again is "no men" but for an entirely different reason. That is not being accountable. That is not looking inside yourself for how you could have been convinced to do that. I get that he would beat her if she didn't, but a good mom would take a beating for their kids.
It's fascinating how often crystal makes people commit (or is blamed for them commiting) this type of crime against children, often the ones they have the most access to because they are their parent/step-parent.

Im a bit disappointed in Mr Marabella this time. When asking about her sick crimes he offered her several excuses on a platter. Kind of like "leading the witness". He knows his job far better than I do but I would have liked him to ask her the questions and let her twist in the wind while trying to think of her own excuses. I unalived mine for trying to set our babies on fire 3 days after giving birth. He beat TF outta me but the min he went for them I got strength from somewhere and blew his face off. I was still pulling the trigger when police arrived and gladly did my time but I will say taking a life weighs on your conscience. I say just leave. It's not worth it.

I did 7 years in prison, I have been free for 9 years and have completely changed my life. I have been an Ironworker for 9 years, and have a beautiful family. Having said that I have done all of the programs they are talking about EXCEPT THE SEX OFFENDER ONE, I AM NOT A SEX OFFENDER. I can tell you from experience that the board puts way too much confidence in these programs. These programs are literally made for a 4 year old child. It is all basic common sense. Those programs do not fix anyone, if the person changed it was because they wanted to plain and simple.

If her children let her back into their lives, they need to understand that that is opening the door to CPS/DFS, because she is a sex offender and will not be allowed around children. They risk their children's well-being and their own ability to parent by giving in to the hope that people change. It's disappointing when you learn they don't, but it's a necessary truth to hold firm to that toxic people remain toxic, no matter who they are or what relation they have to you.
20 years is a gift for her. She should spend the rest of her life behind bars. These are horrific offenses.
As a drug addict myself, Imo, drugs and alcohol didn’t cause her to do this. It was already inside her. And I find it odd, that it was so hard to describe that mtg she mentors for.

My sweet Lord. It's too bad they couldn't read that at the hearing. Ages 4-16. Makes me physically ill. Where do people with this kind of darkness hide?
