Just picked up a Morningstar MC3, I used this video to set up my Iridium. I don’t think I would have figured this out on my own Super helpful. Thanks 👏
I've been using the MC8 for nearly two years. The controller and the Morningstar Engineering people behind it are fabulous. Unfortunately, I am new to Strymon pedals and am facing the task of programming my Timeline, Big Sky and Iridium. I've been scouring the internet for suggestions. That's how I found your channel. I had no idea I could program my MC8 the way you described. So exciting. Thanks for taking the time to share. I subscribed and am heading over to see what else you have to offer. Thanks again!
Excellent tutorial for saving/changing presets using MC pedal. Just moving into the midi world with a new pedal board setup. You made it much easier to understand!
Thank you so, so much for making this! I was thinking of buying a MorningStar controller and could not find any videos how to simply save a Strymon preset.
Great video, and thank you a lot. Just one question, is it possible to remove the "on" command so as not to have the sound cut out when we change the preset? I mean between two presets.
Awesome job - quick question what if I want to store many presets and use only two buttons 1up and 1 down - if one has a lot of presets we dont have that many buttons - thanks much
Is this the same on the timeline too? I'm trying to call up saved presets from different banks with the morningstar, but I think I've got conflicting messages. The Strymon footswitches aren't coming on when I press the morningstar sometimes. I see you're associating the preset with the favorite button on the iridium. The timeline doesn't have that, it's different, isn't it?
Sure can! Just plug it into your computer and program each change for each pedal! It’s super quick and super easy! Just remember to have each pedal with its own midi channel
@@thepedalpicassos Thanks for the response. Could you point me in the right direction for the cable needed for this? As far as I can tell, I need a 2.5" TRS to 3.5" TRS. I can't seem to find this anywhere.
Hey ! I subscribed to your channel. So useful and gas addicted... 😂 This is an extreamly clear video. I have a question... i'm not expert in midi... But now i know that i can control the iridium via midi NOT JUST with the pedals named imn the owner manual.. Can you suggest a midi controller smaller than the morningstar but useful to recall all the possible banks of the iridium? Thanks!
Awesome Vid! :) what midi box are you using? setting that up with the strymon, would have been a great additional info. That was a head ache when I was setting up mine. 😂
Very cool video. I was hoping to find something that would quickly get me up to speed, and this video did just that. BUT, can you please explain how you have the MIDI connected between your MC6, Stomp, Iridium, etc.? Right now, my MC6 is connected only to my Stomp, and it is MC6 Out to Stomp In (DIN5 pins). Do I need to run a DIN5 pin to mini TRS from the Stomp out to the Iridium in order to do what you've done here? And what settings do I need to look at in the Stomp to make sure that it is passing MIDI thru?
Hi mate! I run a midi cable from the MC6 to the HX stomp... then from the HX stomp to a Meris midi box... then a TRS cable from the Meris midi box to the iridium! Hope that helps!!
@@thepedalpicassos Hi, thak you for the tutorial, I would know if is it possible to connect the morningstar direct to the iridium or sunset using a trs cable from the MC6 aux (with the last Firmware released)?
Hello! Thank you very much again for the video. I manage to create a preset in MC6 (A for example) to change the type of amp in Iridium but I have a problem that I cannot solve. After activating an Iridium preset (FAV amber led) I want to create a midi message for another preset (B for example) so that FAV becomes deactivated and the FAV led is off again. I've tried several midi messages and I can't get it. I would really appreciate your help, I've been trying this for three days. Many thanks!
Hi mate! I don’t think you can do that… I’d save all my favourite amps in to different preset positions and use my midi switcher to switch between them… I’ll have a look and see what I can do!
From the owner's manual, the Iridium can only have 1 fav saved. I'm sure that each time you made a save fav and programmed it to a specific button, you wiped out the previous setting. According to the manual, you only have one fav to save.
@@thepedalpicassos I have the FCB1010, and more is going on with a send and receive than what is being covered in your video. None of this is being covered properly anywhere. I am monitoring the Iridium with MIDI OX, and no data is streaming when I do exactly what you say to do. There is some back and forth programming going on with the MC3 that is "black box magic" that no one explains. Send and recieve on the same MIDI DIN plug? What? In what galaxy? Midi ports are IN and OUT and yet you are sending Iridium a patch change, and then the MC3 saves all the CC# values? There is an entire program written that is never explained. Sure, I can throw hundreds of dollars at this problem, get it to work with the MC3, but truth be told, no one understands what MIDI programming is going on otherwise they would be able to get it to work with the FCB1010, and no one on earth has any information on how to do this.
man i was really hoping you would show how to change multiple strymon pedals to make a "scene" or something but i am guessing its the same process just with multiple pedals using same menu page
Yes mate! It’s the same process! But it’s different with the timeline, the big sky and the mobius... Because you can just go in and select which MIDI channel you want them to be on!
I have the Iridium and the Flint. Is it possible to use the MC6 to control both? I don't think the Flint is MIDI but it does have an EXP jack which might be used for turning on the reverb and tremolo. Could I create a preset on the MC6 that configured the Iridium how I want it and also turned on the Flint's Reverb via the EXP jack?
@@thepedalpicassos But the MC6 has two TRS jacks. Would I not just have one going to the Iridium and the other going to the Flint? Or am I confusing this with the MC8 which can also send EXP and AUX over its 1/4" jacks?
I think 1 is just an input for an expression pedal... I think only one of the TRS jacks can send out midi signals. Let me know if I’m wrong! I hope I’m wrong! That would be super exciting
I think I have mine working but find that I need to hit the morningstar button twice to get it to trigger the favorite. Did you have this problem? Any ideas why this might be? Thanks
Hmmmmmm. Could be a number of things? Check that the message is “position 1” and make sure Your messages are in the right order if you’ve got it on toggle
Sometimes it’s seamless.... sometimes there’s a small drop out.... if you’re running a delay and reverb you don’t notice it... it’s better than the HX stomp... and not as good as the headrush! Hope that helps!
Hi mate. No. You can’t save a preset with no amp... and another preset with no cabs.... I tried and it didn’t work!!! If you work out how to do it let us know!

Yep. I’m 99% sure that it’s different, I think you need to use the software to muck around with the three big pedals. I think it’s called Nixie
