    The units directions say to wipe down the gaskets and the surfaces they touch to maintain a good seal. I do that after each use. I also clean the glass because I like to see in.

      I've heard of others using baking soda and vinegar. Everyone is different and expect different results.

    Warning -- you'll end up with all kinds of problems if you don't clean the internal temperature sensor/probe carefully after every use.
    In the SHORT term, not cleaning the internal sensor will mean it stops reading correctly... as in 50 degrees off! But in the LONG term it's worse. If moisture gets trapped behind the sensor, the copper connectors that go to the control box will corrode.
    As for "what to use", the MasterBuilt phone rep officially told me me to use "water, soap, and cider vinegar", but I agree with you. As long as you don't use chemical's you'll be fine. What's important is that you clean the temperature sensor on the back wall carefully after every use.

      I agree with you. That sensor needs to be cleaned all the time...thanks for the input.

    Hi Mike, I saw how you cleaned the glass window to your electric smoker. Might I suggest Oil Eaters . My husband use to haul cars for a long time and getting the oil off of his clothes was almost impossible until a friend of mine ( who's husband worked on airplane motors ) told me about Oil Eaters. At that time it was sold at Costco , but I have seen it at auto body stores too. Let me know how that works for you. I am planning on using it on my electric smoker when I use it. I kids recently bought one for me and I can hardly wait to use it. Thanks for your video which I also learned a lot from.

    So I’ll add my 2 cents I reckon. After any smoke I do I drain the grease pans and water bowls and then turn the temp up to max heat and let the unit run for a few hours. This cooks out anything that would become mold and also dries out some of those chunks of char on the sides and grating making it easier to scrape off before I fire it up next time. Aside from that, I’ll use a razor blade to scrape the doors window clean when it gets too caked up after a few smokes.

    I put water in a pan and put the smoker on 275 and steamed it for an hour. I shut it off took out the pan and wiped the crap off the sides with no issues at all... Steam cleaning is the way to go..

    I coat the inside with oven cleaner after a scraping. Then blast it with my pressure washer. Then reseason but it has to be really bad because that’s a lot of lost flavor.

    I had a different take on it . 1 using a drill gun with a stainless steel wire wheel 2nd. Drench the smoker with apple cider vinegar . 3rd power washing it ( soon buying worx power washer)and 4th i thought about ur ideal as well....i have the the smoker with the knob so i have to check the temp from time to time... no computer and circuit board...

    did you use detergent in the washer? I think the racks would be fine but I worry about the scent/chemicals effecting the other more rough surfaces like the water tray etc.

    • @DelmarvaBackyard
      @DelmarvaBackyard  7 лет назад

      I did use a mild dish washing detergent however I don't find that it leaves any left over unwanted scents or tastes on the parts I washed. I agree, I want to limit the use of all chemicals to the inside surfaces of any oven, grill, smoker, etc.

      ya ive washed mine in the dish washer we have a nice high heat dry cycle that seemed to take away all the sent worked pretty good I think it was good idea not to spray it down with oven cleaner the unit i mean

      Only thing I do with my racks (propane smoker so probes to worry with) is carry them over to my propane grill and burn em off and later hit em a few licks with a plastic grill brush. The inside I do nothing to (right or wrong idk , just the way I do it).

    Do you have any video on doing ribs in electric smoker

    • @jaetiff5591
      @jaetiff5591 3 года назад

      From experience, you need to wrap it in foil and have some type of a liquid inside. I personally use apple juice and apple cider vinegar. Make sure you wrap it tight so that the liquid does not come out. Keep them far away from the heat source and cook them meat side down. Go low and slow I did 225-250 (temp fluctuated one me) for 4-6 hours. I can’t remember how long it took to be exact because I was cooking multiple cuts of meat at once. Ribs need moisture and need a long time at low heat. They will then fall off the bone. ❤️

    Why are you wanting to clean it so good? It's a smoker. The more seasoning the better as long as its operational. The dirtier the better man.
