@@DoesItDoom I have been trying to figure out the main riff of The Dark Side of The Compass (after 0:53). Pretty cool song, so +1 for the compass on my side.
Hey man your an awesome teacher. I just learn by watching and kind of winging it. Anyway do you have any videos off SNAKES FOR THE DIVINE? I've looked and don't see anything?
Which picks are you using the most for these? And how thick? I play an Epiphone les paul with 12 - 56's tuned to C standard and I can't ever find a comfortable pick for this stuff 😂
Try something in the range of 0.73 to 1.0mm. I use 1.0 Hetfield White Fang picks these days but back in the earlier days I used 0.73 yellow tortex picks. Matt used the standard 0.73 yellow tortex forever but these days he uses the really pointed version of the same thickness.
Euro nam not a band I’m super familiar with, though I have heard their stuff. But anything is possible. Let me know what song(s) you want to see me break down in lesson form.

@TOZE yeah, I'd say it's about the lightest you could get away with. Many of the older school doom guys use lighter strings, and that's sort of where I ended up. I just prefer how it feels, plays, sounds, etc.
TOZE yes. Tony uses 9-42 in C# Standard. There is a certain feeling and tone with the lower tension that isn’t present with higher tension. Mainly the sort of wobbly vibrato and ease of legato techniques.
@TOZE Thanks, man! I spend a lot of time studying live footage whenever I put a guitar lesson together in hopes that I can get the riffs as close to correct as possible. I very much agree on 75% of the tone coming from the fingers. It's very much my experience that no matter what song I'm demoing or teaching, if I get the subtleties correct (tuning, notes, position, tempo, vibrato style, etc.) that people will generally say they love the tone, even if it's actually not that close to the original recording, but simply in the ballpark. I also found it very cool that you picked out EW using light gauge strings!
@@DoesItDoom Great lesson 👍 mind sharing what your settings are? I am using an Orange 35LDX crush. Bass - 9, mid - 7, treb - 4. I try to get the same sound with similar settings on my Marshall but I find it "tinny"
