    It’s gotten so bad to the point where now they have to tow 2816 out of Mexico with a diesel, and they are apparently only running at night to prevent all of this hell from happening all over again because people just cant stand back 25 feet.

    Now I feel kinda bad for the rail fans in Mexico that were behaving and trying to get shots like we we are able to get here in the us (because everyone mostly behaves around choo choos ) but it had to be ruined (for good, probably) by a buncha people that don’t have common sense when it comes to trains.

    One word I would describe 2816's tour is...
    *Turbulent*
    I feel like all went decently well with railroaders, railfans and the American Foamers who came to see the old experienced empress cross transcontinental into the Spanish lands and expected high hopes for her, only to end in disaster by the time it hits Mexico (no pun intended).
    This sorta left 2816's reputation in a rough state.
    So Scotsman trip 2.0?

    I like to stay a good ways away from trains when railfanning, so around 10-20 feet away. Usually I try to get close enough that I can wave but far enough so I don’t end up like… well… the person in the orange shirt in Mexico

  • @Btraffers
    @Btraffers 5 месяцев назад +5

    I’m pretty sure the wood they put over the lights and number plates was to prevent damage. Also, by towing 2816 back behind the diesels it alows them to cover more ground on a given day because 2816 will consume a considerably smaller amount of fuel.

  • @MechanicalAnalogDigital

    With what happened, I won't be surprised that no future steam trains from any railroad head south. Not because these businesses hate the people of Mexico, but because of these factors.
    1. The clearly displayed ignorance of safety protocol and common sense
    2. The serious risk of people getting hurt or killed
    3. The possibility of the locomotive being damaged by over excited fans (like climbing on the train when your not supposed to)
    4. The looming threat of a lawsuit, or legal action against the company

  • @trainfanbroskull
    @trainfanbroskull 5 месяцев назад +5

    its not cpkc fault, how ever it sort of is. the people who run the company clearly do not do research towards or focuses on mexico’s rail safety problem. obviously cp 2816 won’t come back on tour they’ll retire the locomotive once the return trip is finished. coming from a mexican, i would love to see the train in mexico, however i would also witness the amount of bullshit people are doing on railroad property. it wasn’t bad that cp 2816 to mexico considering the hype was definitely worth it for them, however the citizens of mexico needs to be more cautious when it comes to trains, and respect it.

  • @csxnstrainman
    @csxnstrainman 5 месяцев назад +2

    From what I've seen the crowds didn't get as bad till a point after Monterrey and a shame that happened with minimal control. At one point it looked liked a whole town came to the tracks and it was pretty chaotic when they closed in on Mexico City looking like the majority of the city came trackside.

    I watched the video and my stance is no 2816 should not go back to Mexico Unless UNLESS they have a security team by the tracks to keep bystanders from having their skulls crushed inward. I do not have sympathy for people who trespass and can see the engine coming and do this the women could have moved but chose not to and set an example

    Great Video And Yeah, It SUCKS That There Are (Some) People Who Don't Respect The Railroads And Railroad Safety, And I Knew Sending CP 2816 To Mexico Was A Bad, And At Best, A Questionable Idea, As I Had A Feeling It Was Going To Get Vandalized As Well As Other Things, It's (Allegedly) Out Of Mexico Now. I'm Sorry For The Mexican Railfans But I'm Glad They (And To Some Extent Mexico As A Whole) Got To Have A Treat, But Unfortunately Due To Some Improper Behavior Of Some People (No Hate Directed Towards Anyone) It's Extremely Unlikely That CP 2816 Will Ever Return To Mexico (Or Any Other Steam Locomotive Will Ever Go Down To Mexico Period). Also, Like I Said In My Comment In Part 1, The Reason(s) CPKC'S Going To Put The North American Railway Industry In An Unstable Postion Is/Are Because If They Start Running (Direct/Non-Stop) Trains From Mexico City To Chicago, IL, Toronto, ON Or Montréal, QC, All Of The Other Class I Railroads Are Going To Complain And Then We'll Be Witnessing The Biggest Railway War In North American Railroading History. I Don't Know What The STB Was Thinking Because That Was A Detail That Was COMPLETELY OVERLOOKED When They Gave This Merger The Greenlight.

    This is why Keith Creel shouldn’t merged the KCS system with KCS de México, I swear this is a bad image for themselves, and their historic of Empress, no why wonder the Railroads is a complete laughingstock, with no high speed trains, no manufactured but Siemens and any other European and Asia companies (that I forgot their company’s name).🤦🏿‍♂️🔥
    The Canadian Pacific-Kansas City is a bad example, shouldn’t be the CP Rail System with the US.🇨🇦🇺🇸
    I hope Empress towed back to Canada, and I hope there’s no more dangers on the tracks while the tour is settling over, the train is sorta damaged, recently one of the F9s got vandalized, same with one of the coaches with small graffiti, and now Empress’s part of the headlamp either they get damaged or parts got stolen.😒💧
    They can’t afford damages or fatal incidents. Just saying.🙍🏿‍♂️💧

      @DanielTheTrainNerd8006 Even Better, Tell CPKC As A Whole To Completely Withdraw From Mexico, Because It Will Put The Rail Industry In An Unstable Position. This Is Becuase They Now Have Service In The U.S. Canada And Mexico Because And If They Start Running (Direct/Non-Stop) Trains From Mexico City To Chicago, IL, Toronto, ON Or Montréal, QC, All Of The Other Class I Railroads Are Going To Complain And Then We'll Be Witnessing The Biggest Railway War In North American Railroading History.
