I'm so glad you addressed the constricting contracts. Angelina's parents had similar offers (I've read) and turned them down repeatedly. I am so looking forward to seeing what this beautiful, gifted young lady does in her lifetime.

History was made. From now on those that are brave enough to do this song will try her version & will be compared to her.She took a classic rock opera & turned it into a stripped down bluesy/jazzy ballad. This song is now hers.
Beyond the a capella intro, pitch control, tone, phrasing, riffing and arrangement, there is one aspect of Angelina's performance that is easy to miss.When she sings " Nothing really matters " the first time at the end of piece, listen closely... she sings, " Noth- ING REAL-ly matters." The ING and REAL are 1/4 notes with a 1/4 rest between them!!! She has such control that she shortens the note to make the syllable stand out! Now, that's insane ability!
And already in the forth word, "Anywhere the wind blOWS". Like a sudden wind gust, with her airy voice. She often pays more attention to the words, the message, than the original artist did.

Excellent comments, could not agree more... This was not an audition this was Angelina's coming out mini concert to the rest of the world that has not had the honor to witness her vocal artistry. She owns the stage the minute she steps on it. The bare footed princess of song has entered the building... Angelina's opening phrase just mesmerizers and masterfully commands everyone's full silence and awe of her vocal artistry. She has fulfilled her stated dream when she 6 years old of becoming a super star , however, she has now gone way beyond that and has now become a Jazz singing living legend barely starting her teenage years of life. Someone said recently, as you hear more and more of Angelina you cease to be surprised but are always amazed.
Everyone mists the entrance of that song. But listen to those words and her tone. It was like the Wind.. Soft and delicate. Listen to the words of the first part.

Lady, you are 100% correct about the benefits of NOT winning a talent show! On the money with this critique. That is why so many talented artist don't even want to showcase themselves by entering these shows. And many of the winners get disenchanted with management and fade away!

Valerie, infinite thanks for your wonderful reactions with Angelina, she is definitely the most exciting and natural singer I know, each interpretation of her is a journey that gives her listeners directly into her world.
If you can, you also listen to her other two performances in AGTtC, always in her wonderful style that also comes out of that fake show and puts her out of Simon's games.
They are absolutely exceptional re-readings, for the ability to transform famous songs into different and better songs, it is truly incredible!
You have got to listen and see a studio video at age 6 singing I, who have nothing. This one will drop your jaw and make you laught.
Valerie, I believe you have the most authentic "reaction" to the music of any of the "reviewers" on RUclips. Your eyes dance with pleasure when beautiful passages massage your soul. A cacophony of moans, brow movements and facial nuance shows how deeply you are moved. It is a real enjoyment to observe.

I read a quote from Angelina’s uncle stating they held out for a long time until she could appear on AGT with no contract obligations after the competition.
Thanks!!! AGT had been trying to have Angelina appear since she won NGT. She finally agreed but wouldn't sign their contract without changes, so many think that's why she didn't win.

Valerie, thank you for your insightful reaction to this Angelina Jordan performance. It is obvious that you are a true professional who understands the technical and artistic aspects of vocal music. Being a former music educator and an old-school jazzer, I hold Ella Fitzgerald as the gold standard for embellishments, riffs, runs, whatever you want to call them. She would not only emulate the improvisation of the great instrumentalists of her day, she created her own style that set her apart from everyone else. She always stayed within the changes of the music and never did too much or too little, just the right amount. So many of today's singers do "vocal gymnastics" without really understanding the musicality that is required to be artistic. Through training and sheer innate ability, Angelina "gets it" and we, her audience, are immensely fortunate to listen to her artistry. I like to think of her as the Barbra Streisand of the 21st century. Not because their voices are alike, but because Angelina will be as much or more of a superstar as Barbra was in her prime.
Angelina already has an independent record label. Her own. She only wants the American Exposure. The fan base. Of course she would like to win AGT, but she doesn't need to win. She already won NGT. She doesn't need to win this. She is just looking for the exposure. Angelina is a strong independent soul who will always maintain her own individuality. You can always expect the unexpected with her and 💯 percent authenticity. She won my heart years ago and have followed her ever since. She is winning hearts everywhere with her music and just by being her authentic self.💞🎤🎤

Thank you for your reaction. I am always interested in hearing your opinion and analysis. Angelina is the driving force behind all her decisions with the support of he family. AS you might be aware, she turned down many lucrative contracts with several recording labels as well as Disney. After winning NORWAY GOT TALENT, she did not participate in any other award shows and even declined an invitation to last season of AGT THE CHAMPIONS. So why now? Angelina has been working on a new album of all original songs to be released soon. By participating in this year's AGT THE CHAMPIONS' she is getting lots of free publicity and exposure to millions of potential new fans and a head start to promoting her new album.
AS for her performance she again showed how intelligent she is. Many performers who covered this song failed because they wanted to be Freddie. By starting A CAPPELLA she focused everyone's attention on her unique beautiful voice rather than the original song. A masterful arrangement but still respecting the original artist. She has won regardless of the final results. AGT taking advantage of Angelina! No way. She is outsmarting them. Way to go young lady.

If that is true, it's a rigged show. she is already the winner to her millions of fans. More than 400 million views on RUclips and more than 1 billion on Facebook and that is even before AGT. I rest my case.

I agree that her popularity should explode now, and I personally hope that she does whatever is necessary in order to retain complete control over her own music. I cannot think of a young artist whose future work I have anticipated with as much interest and delight.

Being on AGT Champions was an opportunity for AJ to audition for big American recording companies she and her team were not interested in Simon's corrupt companies ;
and in the end she signed a huge one with Republic Records

You make a lot of really great points and it really shows that you have been paying attention to Angelina's history and development. There are many who have the talent and can sing well but, Angelina is so much more than a singer. You can see that in the respect she gets from the musicians she works/collaborates with. It's also quite wonderful how she commands a stage with so little effort and that thousands of people will maintain complete silence at the appropriate times.

Angelina mor is very loving and protective, not a typical stage mom. Angelina is wonderful. by the way, I sing just like her (barefoot) but shower acoustics can't perform miracles. she is the miracle.

I'm so proud of her performance. I feel like she is a family member, since I've literally seen her grow up on youtube. She is a once in a lifetime artist. Her gift to the world is her ability to take these classic iconic songs & rearrange them into her jazzy style for a new generation. Of course her originals are amazing as well & I am anxiously awaiting her next album with more originals.
I had to "hold my nose" while doing it, lol. I just don't like reality TV shows for so many reasons. But I truly love Angelina and her fanbase so it's my gift to you all! :)

By all accounts, she also grabbed most of the wider audience watching on TV and online afterwards. That's a huge boost to her fan base. So happy about that. :)

I, like you, am happy with her getting the most important thing out there. That would be her mystic charm and incredible talent. I believe winning AGT would probably include compromise of both creativity and character. Angelina will be OK---That I am sure of---She is blessed.

Thanks for your super reaction to Angelina's performance. That's the thing about AGT. It expands the definition of "talent" to the broadest extent. So we have a competition that includes, well, you name it. And the emphasis is on "Vegas" act. So we see a lot of circus acts. I'm not saying that's a bad thing. But I don't think it bodes well for singers; even those as fantastic as Angelina and Marcelito. Especially with the format on the Champions version, which is all taped (one week in October) and no one can vote. So I predict a circus act will win this show. And I don't see a singer in the top five (I'm just guessing here). But I also don't see that as a bad thing for Angelina. She already had many fans worldwide. And the exposure and recognition from this show (and that INCREDIBLE performance), can only help her career. Especially since she is getting ready to release her new album of all originals (I think). What we all wish for Angelina is a long and successful career, and in some ways, she is just beginning that journey. Thanks again, Valerie, for embracing Angelina's artistry and career. @@BlackWolfSpirit I would put my money on V Unbeatable. The are the best acrobatic/circus act I have ever seen on this show. And I've watched every season since the show began. I was very surprised when they didn't win the last time they were on AGT. They are that good. And I'm guessing they are even better now. And they would make a great Vegas act. At any rate, your guessing dancers, I'm guessing acrobats, and again, that doesn't bode well for singers. Wishing you the very best, Spirit Wolf.

@@alberttenfoot Can't remember what season they were on, but I saw them audition. They just blew me away, and I'm not easily impressed with dance routines; especially kid's routines. But these two were simply fantastic.
@@wajj1842 Auditions for the 2019 AGT. Although they were overwhelmingly voted as the Wild Card performers, they did not proceed past that dance.

You always say the best stuff when it comes to Angelina. Thank you for sharing what you know about these talent shows, and Simon. These are things I have known (suspected) all along, but it's good to hear it from someone that has lived it. One thing you said that sets you apart from some of the other vocal coaches that have huge followings, "I don't have what she has". There are some that would never admit that ;) I really like that you get how special this girl is, and have a way of explaining it to us that doesn't sound dismissive. Regarding your comments about artists being controlled by these shows, there is an immediate example of this currently. The official video sites for Angelina which include AGT and talent recap, have been shut down as of yesterday. They are blocked. Nobody knows why, but it is total Injustice and reprehensible as Angelina had gained over 10 million views on the websites. All that remain are private videos like yours. I wish I knew what was going on , but I do agree that she will prosper no matter what. She is a once-in-a-lifetime artist.

She first auditioned on norsk talenter, age seven singing "Gloomy Sunday " by Billie Halliday. If you haven't seen it look it up.
I have a friend who was a sound engineer on NZ idol....he was told to make some sound better or worse than the others to influence voting. I only watch the first audition rounds, but haven't for the last two years!
