Are you guys seriously telling me that I spent my middle school years jamming on Rock Band to a song about a demonic bicycle? Damn my childhood was awesome

@@JamesEatWorld7758 I disagree that it’s overrated. I think it got a lot of praise but I don’t think it’s undeserved. I’ve been a fan since IKS and this is still my favourite simply because I feel the song writing and instrumentals are top notch and it gave a very cinematic feel to the album. Not to say their other albums aren’t also amazing.
To anyone who doesn't know the story. Ten Speed is a demonic possessed bicycle that's also a figment of the Writing Writer's imagination. It symbolizes the evil urges and dark side of the Writer's mind when it comes to the Writer's former lover Erica. Ten Speed wants Ambellina dead, the character in Writer's story, and manifestation of the good things that kept Writer with his girlfriend Erica, saying that Ambellina is the reason The Writer is miserable and should just kill her off. And so, the Writer finally agrees in the end

"Well, aren't you gunna kill her off?" "I love the character, she stays!" "Yeah, well it was your damn love that got us in this position, I say we kill her off!" "Well, you say a lot things. How does that work? You're a bicycle!"
In 8th grade i did a book report in school for the Good Apollo graphic novel, at the time I hadn't actually read it, i just did extensive research online to find out about the story since my english teacher let us choose whatever book we wanted lol. Even though i overlistened to this band a lot (that was my fault) Coheed will forever have a special place in my heart for introducing me to progressive rock, when i first listened to Second stage it inspired me to play drums again after getting discouraged for a long time. These guys made original music when it seemed like everyone else was cash-grabbing on the popularity of post-hardcore, not enough people realize that.
"But are you going to kill her off?" "That's not your decision. I love the character, she stays." "Yeah well the only thing love done is put you in this position! I say kill her off!" "Yeah, but you say a lot of things.. And how does that work? Your a bicycle!"

I like all of these analysis's for this song. I would like to point out though, for those without the luxury of reading the comics, the bicycle is a personified version of the writers inner most desires. This song goes over the inner turmoil that the writer faces when his girlfriend leaves him. He is now faced with the decision to kill off the character that he wrote her into. The writer is borderline insane at this point in the story...and honestly...I love it!!
I still remember that my dad bought this song as dlc for rock band 2 and I jammed out with him countless times. Music is amazing! I love how good music bridges the gap between generations
My mom took me to see them in 2007 when they played in san antonio. And may I say it was the greatest and FIRST concert I've been to. Fucking love this band, all I gotta say.
Welcome Home was the first song I heard by Coheed and Cambria. Love a lot of their songs , ten speed is one of them. My son got me listening to them 5 years ago ! Still Awesome to listen too !
Still sick in 2018...saw them for the IV tour with avenged 7fold, they killed it..one of the best live shows ever. Plus claudio has the best hair in music

We Are All Claudio's Children. One Among the Fence. And I think we can all agree Claudio Sanchez is a gifter singer, songwriter, guitarist and comic book author. I knew about Coheed and Cambria when I was about 9 because of my brother and I've been following them ever since. I'm proud to be a Coheed and Cambria fan, Shabutie fan, and Claudio Sanchez's fan.
For a story of how I came to like the band. Back when they would play Welcome Home on the radio I'd jam to the intro riff, but as soon as Claudio would start singing I pictured someone trying wayyy too hard. Then they were at a concert with other bands I specifically went to see, and my god. They are an AWESOME live show, and it's immediately clear it's an intentional aeshtetic but not in some kind of hack way. He's like performing pop songs from the radio of his paracosm. They were my favorite act there (even more so then the one's I intended to see) and have loved them ever since. In short, the band and Claudio in particular are extremely pretentious, but rather than in the "look how cute my makeup... what music?" way, it's the "I've got a universe in my head I'm going to sing songs about with no prior context for anyone who hasn't gone out of their way to find out, while projecting my authentic self. PS: This may be my art but it's not shamelessly over-serious and is self aware" way

Have you seen the movie Rubber?
We all have a history with evil bicycles
Yupp.
Take Out Well its about the writers concious taking on the form of his bicycle as he goes insane, but ok lol
Otherwise known as an evil bicycle, yes.

The fan operator for Claudio's hair deserves a big raise after this video!!
+Phillip Burke there is no fan operator. Claudio's hair magically floats in the wind like the free animal it is
+Phillip Burke I was thinking the same thing lol
I was gonna say, Claudio's hair is its own living entity. It's basically what the Amory Wars were truly fought over, if you think about it.
Ok loololololol
Claudio's hair is the Monstar Virus made manifest. It has a will of its own, and cannot be tamed.
"How's that work? You're a bicycle" is lyrics at its peak.

I can feel it in the way your blood and heart beats
My body's cold and it thinks I'm already gone
Or is it in the way your body moves
I'd like to tell you
But I think that you already know
The words I drag out from your mouth speak
So listen up world, listen up world
In her vision I have given company
They see no evil in leading their bodies from home
Believer, you'll leave her, in leaving them all
No but I don't buy it
Like anything you do, as anyone you are
Ten Speed, if I must...then I must
If written wrote me even chance
And the choice to save you
I wouldn't answer if it even had to ask
In her figure I've instilled a taste of my own
To make it easier to take what life I'm owed
As the curse has returned from the hell of you
Heart and your soul
Nobody knows but you
I don't want to ride tonight...
No I don't want to go
Cause I'm...
Ten speed, of God's blood and burial
