No daft punk = no tron. Daft punk hung up the masks in January 2021. If god decides to give us a break and make daft punk come back for one more tour, I would travel across the planet to see them. This movie was honestly meh.. but Thomas and guy are what brought it to legendary. 2022 still hoping.

Totally agree! Working on recreating the End of Line Club in a VR game called Rec Room. As well as the Solar Sailor and Flynn's outlands safehouse as hangout rooms. Hopefully will finish Flynn's arcade sometime too and connect all the rooms together. :D

Keep in mind that Daft Punk made the song for a movie, so they had restrictions on how the music sounded
+MusicTroik On the other hand, the Glitch Mob were an absolutely incredible group at the time, and the bit they do with the sound at the end that sounds like a fire dying out sounds amazing. This is a scenario where one amazing duo made a song and then another amazing trio remixed it. You can't go wrong anywhere IMO. The release of this remix was so significant to me that I remember when I found out and I immediately told my friend, a friend I hadn't been talking to for a long time due to a disagreement. I knew this would be more important to us both than whatever stupid argument we had, and I was very right indeed.
A message to the future generations. Don't let this movie die.

this movie was ahead of it’s time
It took me about 8 years to figure out how to light clothing like that and have it functional and washable. That’s just the clothes. Almost everything about this movie was a decade ahead of its time. I’m still struggling to mimic the clothing style. I can do it, but it’s rediculously expensive.
Yes, like the first one. At the time people barely understood computers and all the special effects were custom for that movie only. They were never used again after. Tron is cutting edge and it will please some audience. I thought the Legacy was a good follow up of the original one.

It’s worth looking into if you haven’t already. They make flat and flexible circuitry possible. Heck, we’ve already got smart paper. And we might already have smart fabrics too.

when the movie is so good and ahead of its time that it actually fkn fails lmao.
It leant waaay too much on the stunning visuals and superb score, but the plot and characters sucked, even compared to the original. (Unlike, say 'Dredd' (2012)). Also, not enough Recognizers.
Say what you want about Tron: Legacy's story and acting, but my word is it a truly gorgeous film to watch with an absolute killer soundtrack. Take away dialogue and story, just watch for cinematography and score, and it is a pretty good movie.

I saw this in the IMAX Theater in 3D. One of the best moviegoing experiences of my life. The writing was excellent, they deserved an Oscar.

this movie was the coolest movie ever to me as a kid. I still love it. The designs and aesthetic are amazing, and basically was the look for most of my daydreams as a child.
To be honest when you compare Tron Legacy to the original Tron, as a sequel it did the franchise justice. I could see an entire line of movies or shows based on this as it's not about the characters but the story of human vs machine as a whole, so you could toss whoever into whatever roles and it would do just as good.

Daft punk is what made this movie so good
Daft Punk and Joseph Trapanese are definitely a pretty big part of why the movie is well regarded, but you can't deny the outstanding digital and practical effects, combat choreography, and the great acting quality.
Just happened upon this, I really like how down to the split second everything is done, very nice, and I love the credits section, awesome job!

They're been pretty quiet for a while and they'd fit solidly well. It's a large high profile game release and it wouldn't surprise me if they released an album in the game or something. Only thing is I'd think they would have probably hyped it by now but we all know DP like keeping things quiet so it wouldn't surprise me.

In my personal opinion opinion Tron Legacy was one of the best things I've watched. Now that is not the opinion of everybody but It's mine. What does indeed plague me about Disney is that they decided to ditch a sequel for Legacy but rather a franchise reboot. They have a fine line to walk to avoid ruining it all.

I agree - up to a point, and with a technical caveat. I think the song would have worked awesomely. But - there's too much in this video that gives away certain plot and visual elements. You'd want to cut it down to about 1/3 the length, tighten up the editing so as to only hint and engage the curiosity and WOW factor. Things you HAVE to remove - just for example, are any cuts with 'Old' Flynn, and the blood drip that tips off Rinzler to Sam's nature as a "user". Since those are major plot give-always. Quorra shots - leave in. Same with Clu. Etc... Etc...
This is a fantastic music video, don't get me wrong! Totally rocking to it!

I remember watching this as a kid in the movie theater, was so astonished by the visuals & amazing sound track. Pretty sure this is what introduced me into edm, gonna need to find time to rewatch this.
