I remember one game, years ago against the Sixers ( Phil had challenged Kobe to make the nba All-Defensive-team) he had Iverson on LOCK-DOWN !!! At times he couldn't even touch the basket-ball !!! LOL.And when he did,AI was LOST.Iverson complains to the refs the entire time Kobe is guarding him !!! I've never seen Iverson sooo confused, conflicted and miserable. LOL.

@@powerbad696 Fun little backstory to that match up, Kobe actually studied the attack patterns and psyche of sharks to implement that in his game plan against AI because he had such a hard time figuring him out. Craziest part is it actually worked, the next game he put his plan in use and used it every time thereafter. There's a Players Tribune article about it, highly recommend reading it.

Being a Laker fanatic since 1971, Kobe quickly became my favorite player. He took shots very few players could even get off. He made shots that looked impossible. He played so hard and so well and to get him mad had to be the stupidest thing any opponent could do. He was the best mad player I had ever seen. But I resonated with what was said about watching Kobe and just start laughing. His skill level was at an entire nother level that was incomprihensable and henceforth the laugh. The 62 pts in 3 quarters, the 81 point game, the 9 straight threes, the streak against Jordan's Wizards, the 'no regard for human life" dunks, the game winners, buzzer beaters, rundown blocks, lockdown D and the Championships with the skowl. The championships and accolades for Kobe are great. But to be remembered for how he WORKED beyond his talent is 10x’s more legendary to me. Because you see and hear HOW those accolades came to fruition! Fuckin legend!!!

Kobe had damn near a psychotic drive to work and perfection. This is not a scrub or marginally talented dude trying to get Good. This is a man with physical gifts, a father who played in the NBA, superbly skilled Driven to get better, then become The Best. Kobe Competed against and within himself.
