I just got new glasses from Walmart last night and the right side was much lower than the left by the time I got home. They felt great while I was in the store. This has happened the same over the years. I came online this morning to find a fix because I they just can't seem to get it right while I'm there. I still have a little adjusting to do but they are fitting much better already. Thank you very much.
Often times (particularly acetate, the lower the grade and the hotter the Temps the faster this can happen) will relax to a different fit, usually it occurs slowly over a couple of weeks, re adjust and you're golden after that has happened 😁 (a little of the why). I'm glad this was able to help you!!! 😁
I appreciate you doing these videos. I have the most frustrating time having my glasses adjusted. I can’t tell you the number of times that they have place my glasses on the table and said they are level! I tell them but they are not level on my face and I leave frustrated because they never get it levy and every pair of glasses always lean down to the right and it drives me super crazy!!!!!
Thank you so much! I'm pretty clumsy and I accidentally dropped my glasses, making them uneven. Even when I put it on a table they were really slated. I thought I would have to get them fixed again, but I found this and it really helped!
Glad you found this video to get yourself sorted! There's a lot to be said for professional adjustments, but there's also a lot to be said for being able to get them close or even better yourself! 😁 Can't really keep an optician at your side 24/7, and well adjusted glasses just work better! 🤣
Thanks dude, I was fixing up the nose bridges all the time and couldn't figure out why they was still uneven - your video and advice helped a lot! finally fixed it right into place where it's comfortable and even now. Keep up the great work!🙌
My glasses have been crooked for over a year now, and was afraid to even try to fix it myself and haven't been able to get into an optometrist to get them fixed. This morning when I put them on I noticed they were really really crooked and I felt like I was going to get dizzy if I kept wearing them. Finally decided to look and see if there were some videos out there to help people like me and after watching a couple I found yours and I'm so glad I did. Fixed them in a couple of seconds without fear and they sit almost as if they were new even though they're about 4 years old! Thanks for sharing!

Hey, thank you for this video!!! I just bought a new pair of sunglasses and was little disappointed - left side was lower than right. I tried to change position of little pillows on the nose but still unleveled. Until I found this video, did not thought is that easy ( metal frame) to adjust.
I have the frames that are shown at 4:50. it has the taper down to the tiny separation part before it his the ear grips. How do I know if it’s meant for in and out adjustment versus up and down adjustment? My frames are severely crooked and I’m worried about snapping them off at that little indent spot! Thanks!
Ovvo and ic Berlin use a very similiar design, either of those is safe, they cut the reliefs in there. If you feel a ton of resistance when you go to bend it, it may also be at its limit, those don't take a huge amount of pressure to bend. It could also be misaligned at the temple hing itself, but i rarely see that with these types of designs, as the frame front and mount point are pretty darn ridged 🤣. Hope that helps! 😁
I have some new acetate glasses and the right arm needs bending down to raise the lens higher and level them up. I don't seem to be able to bend them even at the narrower part of the arm so do you recommend heating them in hot water first maybe? Great video by the way!
One RUclips Optician believed in the rule "lower the lower" to level glasses. I wear wire rim saddle bridge frames with cables that wrap around the ears. The optician said to bend the hinge lower on the lower side, which will raise the glasses to level. What do you think?
That's the "safe" route, as more pantoscopic tilt is typically better than lessening panto or even going into retroscopic tilt. Ideally you would adjust to maintain around 6-10* pantoscopic tilt angle when worn. Moving temples down will increase panto. Temples up will decrease panto. So, I take a very different approach, as often times people finding this video may have just sat on their glasses and have two temples that are almost 90* down when opened 🤣
It's best to especially in the morning, but most cotton based acetate frames are perfectly malleable after a day of wearing. If you want to play it safe and warm it up I have a video on adjust plastic as well here: ruclips.net/video/6yGOuOGUJGI/видео.html
Because I was working on metal frames. Entirely unnecessary. On many, especially newer and softer, acetates if it has been worn for a while before hand, it’s also typically enough heat to adjust.
Hi Jamie! I have a few videos related to adjusting those specific things individually, dig throigh the frame fit and adjustment Playlist and you should find what you need. :)
Just got a pair of glasses. My ears and head definitely don't align, however, I encountered a different problem. My ears are very different in distance from my face. I literally had about half a centimeter difference. The eye doctor did adjust them, but, I could not for the life of me get my left to keep that side equivelant to the right in keeping the glasses even in distance with my eyes, or just staying on without sliding. I literally gingerly and painfully bent the left year down and cut off distance with my own hands right at where the thickest part is of the hook. Sucked, but, now the glasses stay on.
Generally no, because I make some adjustments in the process of fitting lenses that will nullify the preadjustment. With some exceptions of course. Generally I measure knowing what the final adjustment is going to look like and get it close after the lenses are fitted. A few more tweaks at dispense then proper final adjust a few weeks later after the material has had time to relax a bit (titanium excluded we can get final adjustment on those at dispense).
@@ThatGlassesGuy03 I definitely have to come to your shop one day 😭 I checked your website and the TGG in person appointment for "have your glasses fitted to you" option and "adjustments starting at $30" means that I can bring my own glasses to you right? Silly question but the places I've been to will only adjust if you purchase from them. I'm from Canada but I have family in TN so a trip would be well worth it 😋
Thank You Sir!!! you saved me from going on vacation with 2 pair of Ray-Ban shades I ordered online that once I received was a little crooked on my face. Problem solved!!!
Exactly! 🤣 there needs to be something for in between right?! Still great to see an optician for that nice tune up on occasion, but every single time for some people... that's unrealistic 🤣
Heated? Some metals do. REAL Golds and monels do benefit from it, but it's not necessary. Metals where there is a plastic surround like st the temple tips, OR where there are multiple metals wrapped I'm tandem (like rolled gold) it is a good idea and makes the material less prone to failure, but isn't necessary.
In regards to plastic... all acetates benefit from a mild heating (as worn body temp is good for REAL ACETATE adjustment.. I set my heater to just above at 104*F for these)... you can adjust some plastics cold but risk breaking them. Injection plastics require SIGNIFICANT HEAT to adjust. Nylons will be destroyed by heat.
@@ThatGlassesGuy03 Thanks for your video and advice. I did what as you suggested starting out with a careful look over and the correct tweak made a rather crooked pair of glasses balanced without going to a business for the adjustment. Glad I can see again, thank you. 😊
Lots more to that kind of fitting and a professional that knows how to handle it is hugely key. Much more difficult to find tune everything without knowing how each thing affects the other.
I have a pair of glasses that were titled and uneven on my face. I took them to my eyedocters to get them fixed and they just made them even worse. Thanks for showing how to do it.👍👍👍
Safe is relative to the base material. It "can" be done. But particularly on poly it can damage the lenses worse than a messed up coating. Some opticians can still get a coating removed or at least attempt it, but the chemical to do it is hard to get a hold of these days. 🙂
What if it's the actual ears that are uneven, one ear is 1 inch higher than the other on a severely assymetry/deformity? The nose is not tilted and the stems only bend so much.
That’s tougher to manage and finding alternate ways to make the fit work (or finding alternate frame options that don’t rely primarily on the ears to sit level) are required here. That’s a more advanced skill set than the average optician can usually muster (though most will readily accept the challenge).
Recently make a new glasses, my optomitrist make one side bend a bit she claim my ear is un even. When I ask her why the glasses put on the table one side of the frame is slight bend than the other thus un balance. Later I check is quite true my left ear slightly lower than my right ear.
Mine are titanium, and they put the temples on very crooked. One is slanted way down from the front to the back, so it is much higher on my face. I tried adjusting them, but I don't want to break them. I already had to bring the glasses back because they ordered in the wrong kind of lenses to use with rimless glasses, so they cracked every place they were joined to the lenses after five months. They also initially ordered in a different shape than was listed on the side of the glasses. I had both those items fixed. But now the temples are put on crooked. There is no point in going back. They might make them even worse, and I don't think there is anything they can do because the problem is with the way they were attached to the lenses. When I put them on the table, one temple is way off the table. The one put on slanted touches the table. They are crooked on my face. It is not my ears. They are $800.00 glasses. I don't blame the manufacturer. It was the lab that assembled them improperly. It was the initial optician who didn't even know the correct lens to order in and didn't even consult me on what he was doing. I ordered a cheap pair online. I hope they are better.
Ouch, what a nightmare!!!! The rimless temples can be adjusted up or down even if the drill holes weren't done properly and are misaligned, the problem is the risk of breaking the studs that go into the lens or just loosening the pressure sleeves, but the right tools make it pretty possible. I would recommend taking those to a different optical that works with rimless regularly to have a go at it for you 🙂 (the tools are very important here to prevent further issue). Sounds like they just need a good bench alignment and then fitted to you at this point. I suspect your cheap online pair will be just fine assuming everything was keyed in correctly. The cheap online pairs aren't the demons most make them out to be... they're just cheap, and sometimes that's just what ya need 🤷♂️.... I've seen worse work coming from sloppy "high end" shops, so. Yeah 😂
i’m gonna try to fix my glasses i put my glasses infront of me as i dozed off to sleep and i got up to use the restroom and when i came back the left arm was crooked and it was really noticeable and really bummed me out cause i just got my glasses this friday
@@ThatGlassesGuy03 yeah. I literally bought the eye glasses tool kit from amazon today but I’m not sure tweezer work. I’m going to try to take the screw out and see the screw isn’t broken. If not work , I’ll probably go to the local eye glasses store to fix my frame. XD
I don't know whats wrong with my glasses... when i place them on the table upside up they are even, but when i place them upside down they're not, one arm is little up... it's not a big of a difference, but it's really driving me crazy😔 why is that happening?
Idk how to explain this, but my glasses have twisted into four all dimensions I found my old sunnies that were shoved into a cupboard, and nothing was healthy parallel. The lenses aren't inline. The bottom of One side goes I; the other goes out both it's their own about the twist left/right, both arms angled to the side and both are again having thrown own angle
This is when it's really good to see a professional (sorry for the delay getting back to you), but here's a video on how to get back to the gold standard starting point "Bench alignment" ruclips.net/video/MrW4erXMnZI/видео.html
I just got my glasses a week ago and I fell asleep with them on and they are bent out of whack 1 side is way higher not sure how bend it back without breaking them
That's the worst 😰. But the answer is slowly and carefully with even pressure. If you're not sure swing by the shop they came from or find a local optician to fix it, sometimes the hinges will fatigue and snap but usually on new frames they hold up well if it was good to begin with. 😁 the more complex issue is if its only a 3 barrel hinge those often spread out when bent and will remain loose unless it's fixed proper (disassemble realign barrells, reassemble) not difficult really just an extra step that may be needed 😁
@@lorettajohnson2065 a duplicate of the same frame would work but otherwise not without making compromises in vision. I think the more clear solution is just having yours repaired if you aren't comfortable doing it yourself :)

@@ThatGlassesGuy03 Thanks for your reply. Ok, I will do it now because, like you, I can't stand the lop-sided look! ;)
@@rosgriffiths love it 🤣 just heat slowly and evenly and apply pressure in the same manner, you'll be ok 😃
didn't know it was possible to adjust glasses for those with different ear heights. I finally have even glasses on my face. Thank you!
Ahh, awesome! Glad I could help!!! 😁 Thrilled to hear you're not out there walking around crooked now too 🤣 😁😁❤
Thank you sir. Definitely helped & I like your style!
Glad this helped you! Thank you! 😁
What glasses are those blue ones your wearing those are nice!
It’s a long since discontinued one unfortunately. Made by etnia barcelona back in their heyday 😎
Thats the real adjustment I did which made the real difference

Thank you for the affirmation.
A helpful, clear tutorial. I salute you with thanks, good sir.
You're very welcome! And thank you for the feedback!
YOU'RE THE MAN
🙌🥰
Thanks man this helped me so mich
Awesome! Glad it helped!! 😁
Hi, great video! So it's not necessary to heat up the plastic temple arms before bending them? Thank you!
It's best to especially in the morning, but most cotton based acetate frames are perfectly malleable after a day of wearing. If you want to play it safe and warm it up I have a video on adjust plastic as well here: ruclips.net/video/6yGOuOGUJGI/видео.html
@@ThatGlassesGuy03 oh, perfect, I will check it out. Thank you!
Everyone else seems to heat the frame part before bending. You didn't mention that at all. Why or why not?
Because I was working on metal frames. Entirely unnecessary. On many, especially newer and softer, acetates if it has been worn for a while before hand, it’s also typically enough heat to adjust.
I have uneven ears and a soft nose bridge, so my glasses are uneven and constantly sliding down. I hope you have a video for this, too.
Hi Jamie! I have a few videos related to adjusting those specific things individually, dig throigh the frame fit and adjustment Playlist and you should find what you need. :)
Great, it´s what I figured I should do, thanks!
Sometimes the intuitive answer is the correct one. 🥂 😎
Thanks man, I alway would make my glasses crooked by accident but this is really going to help out!!!!! Much appreciated my dude.
Awesome man, glad this helped!! 😁
Thank you!!!! I wish you'd see me in person & fix them for me .. I'm so nervous to try to fix them.
I hear it's worth the trip sometimes. 🤣. Anyhow, you've got this! Making a frame sit level is definitely one of the easier and safer adjustments 😁
Some adjustments can be such a pain like that! Glad you were able to get it sorted though!
Do you adjust before cutting the lenses then? Every optician I've been to sucks at adjusting my frames
I'm from Canada but I have family in TN so a trip would be well worth it 😋
@annavupie absolutely what it means! Would love to take care of it 😁
My spectacles right lens is striking my eye what should I do ?? Please reply

Thank You Sir!!! you saved me from going on vacation with 2 pair of Ray-Ban shades I ordered online that once I received was a little crooked on my face. Problem solved!!!
Nobody needs to be wearing Crooked shades on vacation! 😎 glad this helped you out!!
Thank you!
If I ran out to get my glasses adjusted every time I bent them that's about all I would get done, lol
Exactly! 🤣 there needs to be something for in between right?! Still great to see an optician for that nice tune up on occasion, but every single time for some people... that's unrealistic 🤣
Lately my glasses been sliding down when I bend down. How to stop that?

Omg thank you, this helped so much I was getting frustrated
Happy to have helped! 😁
Do metal frames need to be heated or not? Some say yes, some say no. And don't plastic frames always need to be heated?
How do you adjust your glasses, if you're nose is crooked, drives me nuts, to wear glasses, that don't fit right
Lots more to that kind of fitting and a professional that knows how to handle it is hugely key. Much more difficult to find tune everything without knowing how each thing affects the other.
Thank you for making this video!
You're welcome! 😁
I have a pair of glasses that were titled and uneven on my face. I took them to my eyedocters to get them fixed and they just made them even worse. Thanks for showing how to do it.👍👍👍
Sadly that happens way too often. Glad to hear this helped, and thank you so much for watching!! 🙂

Is there a safe way to remove damaged anti-glare coating from lenses?
Amazing, thank you!
You’re very welcome! 🥂
Recently make a new glasses, my optomitrist make one side bend a bit she claim my ear is un even. When I ask her why the glasses put on the table one side of the frame is slight bend than the other thus un balance. Later I check is quite true my left ear slightly lower than my right ear.
Exactly. Most people aren’t symmetrical and glasses shouldn’t be adjusted to fit a table 😁
Yeah 😂
i’m gonna try to fix my glasses i put my glasses infront of me as i dozed off to sleep and i got up to use the restroom and when i came back the left arm was crooked and it was really noticeable and really bummed me out cause i just got my glasses this friday
ooph! That's not a great start to a new pair of glasses, but I'm sure you'll be sorted out and seeing great again in no time :D
I literaly bend my eye glasses frame up little bit higher than the other one after felling asleep with it🤣
🤣 happens more than you might believe! Now you know how to get em back where they belong 🤣
This has absolutely nothing to do with anything. What matters is how they fit on your face.
Idk how to explain this, but my glasses have twisted into four all dimensions
I found my old sunnies that were shoved into a cupboard, and nothing was healthy parallel.
I subbed because I laughed at your tick tockers line, and this was helped too:))
Hah! Awesome, welcome to the dark side (or the light side depending on your view!) Of glasses! 🤣 glad i'm at least good for a laugh on tiktok 🤣
@@ThatGlassesGuy03 All of your videos are great!
@@ThatGlassesGuy03the lens are progressive I think that’s what it’s called bifocals without the line could I just put them in a different frame
@@lorettajohnson2065 a duplicate of the same frame would work but otherwise not without making compromises in vision. I think the more clear solution is just having yours repaired if you aren't comfortable doing it yourself :)
@@ThatGlassesGuy03 I’ll take them in with my luck I’d break them even more thanks for ur help and quick response I appreciate that
