I really appreciated this interview! Lukas asked some great questions and Gabe met them with very nuanced answers! 🙌 . One key point from Gabe that really resonated was the fact that despite more people being medicated than ever for mental illness, mental health problems (especially Depression and Anxiety) have NOT decreased. Are we only addressing symptoms and not root causes? 🤔 . (As Gabe noted in the video, medications personally saved his life. That's fantastic, and I'm happy for him! But as we currently see, they don't always work for everyone.) . One book that really opened my mind to this question was Johann Hari's "Lost Connections". He also has an amazing TED talk I recommend everyone watch! His perspective is that most people with Depression and Anxiety have less of a "chemical imbalance" and more a "psychological imbalance". He thinks the problem is less about our biology and more about our society, one which reinforces and magnifies our mental health problems. As he would say: "You are not a machine with broken parts; you are a human being with unmet needs." 👤 . Another person I love is Jonathan Haidt who has been documenting on his Substack the rising mental health problems of Gen Z (born after 1996). Studies are emerging that the rise in Depression and Anxiety were especially high in Gen Z long before COVID, as far back as early 2010! He thinks one big cause is smartphones and social media, which have become fast food substitutes for teen's social development, not to mention the addictive nature of apps designed like slot machines to keep teens glued to their screens. Around the same time smartphones went mainstream in early 2010, Gen Z's mental health problems rose significantly (and this is shown internationally, not just in the United States)! 😨 . Like Hari, Haidt points a finger at Nurture, not Nature. He thinks we need to stop scrolling and start reconnecting again. ❤
Even if, and that's a BIG if, the medications were effective there is no way to verify that someone is actually taking them. They can fill the prescription and just not actually take the medicine. My opinion is that prescribing medications doesn't allow people to learn to deal with their moods effectively, something that had to be learned as one grew into adulthood in the past. I also think people are shielded from responsibility too long.
Very well done for bringing MIA KALIFA and presenting her like influencer, thats according with you quality of life in America 👏👏👏👏 , please continue to showimg to the world real and fundamental way of living. 😭😭😭😭
Time to change your description, shameful censorship, you have zero credibility on free speech right now. "The Oxford Union is the world's most prestigious debating society with a tradition of hosting internationally prominent individuals across politics, academia, and popular culture. Founded in 1823 at a time when The University of Oxford restricted students from discussing certain topics, The Union continues to uphold the principle of free speech through the exchange and debate of a wide range of ideas and opinions, presented by a diverse range of speakers - some inspiring, others controversial. As we celebrate 200 years of free speech during our Bicentenary year of 2023, we reaffirm our commitment to our integral values and also our belief that the discussion of complex topics should not only be encouraged but is an essential element of any free society."
It was an honor to be here. Thank you so much for watching and learning. 🙂

Stand up for free speech. Unsub from OxfordUnion
The Oxford Union is standing up for free speech. It's the Student Union (a different organisation) that wants to ban Stock.
@@DonaldAMisc To be honest....that interveiw was really off beat for oxford.
Hopefully that DEI score is worth shattering your reputation

i guess being a pornstar is something to be proud of
Biden should join this telecast. I'm pretty sure he'll will resign after implicating himself with mental issues.
