Tyler Hoechlin had already secured his place on the Mount Rushmore of Supermen way before this magnificent final season, but these last few episodes in particular are undeniable proof to anyone who doubts how insanely good he is. He plays the role his own way, but he is at minimum a match for any previous actor you could name (and that’s no minor achievement when you consider how many great interpretations there have been). I really do think that-taking his Clark and Superman as a whole-nobody (and I do mean nobody) has played this character better than Tyler has. He’s become the gold standard as far as I’m concerned-he’s my Superman.
Yes, I think he’s great. I’m completely convinced by his acting that he is Clark Kent and Superman plus also a husband and a father. I think they also did well with conveying the weight of his having the secret but also the impact of it on the people on the peripheral of his life. I liked it when he said he made good people doubt themselves which helped him with his decision in the end. Very thoughtful. Really solid acting throughout this show. It’s a shame it’s ending but probably for the best.
The bullet scene in the bar is One of my favorite scenes in the show and of Superman EVER, also with him revealing himself to Lana and a few others. The music in these scenes are SO amazing. who knew Glasses could have so much weight in terms of importance and meaning to a character.
Tyler IS Superman. These episodes and the show in general have cemented this fact. This is the best portrayal of Clark and Superman I’ve seen since Christopher Reeve. One thing though that I haven’t seen anyone react to was the deep cut to “Bibbowski’s” by Jimmy towards the end. The show featured snippets from both Superman and Superman II this episode, but introducing Bibbo from the comics was super nostalgic. Superman was his “fav’rit”!

@@Czntury I completely agree. I love Cavill's Superman and wish we got more of him, but the television format and family dynamic has fleshed out this Superman in a way that we never got with Reeve or Cavill.

This show is incredible and no one talks about it. This tyler dude is almost on Reeve's level (he might be better, but I have to think about it) and DESTROYS cavill on a fucking cheap CW show. The part where the bullet is flying to him, and he looks at lois with like a defeated look, and takes off his glasses to rip his shirt off is one of my all time fav tv/movie scenes. His eyes/face looking at her was incredible acting without saying a word. It's a travesty this show is getting cancelled, the showrunners said they had planned for 7 seasons and now they compressed the next three seasons into this one. Pretty sure his reveal was supposed to be for that seventh season.
Yeah he really is up there with the portal of Clark and superman. The discussion about how the secret must be kept and how he couldn’t really have a life if though him keeping the secret was meant o give him that life. Just amazing story telling
We didn’t realise this but I saw a post on instagram of the actor with a pic of him in smallville saying they shot 30 different versions of that cafe scene
They didn’t address that the secret identity helps keep his close ones safe. They made it seem like the only reason Clark was keeping the secret was out of habit for fear when he was a kid that the government would take him away. I like it when different versions of Clark say he needs a regular life and doesn’t want to be Superman 24/7. They also tried portraying the secret as being dishonest and negatively affecting others, which I don’t like. But the scene itself was incredibly well done, both in the acting and visually.
Well, his family is like 2 Superboys and Lois(she's already in danger, everyone know she's Superman friend). I doubt that Bizarro ever had a secret identity. Wasn't his world about opposite paths. In our world, Clark's secret was paramount to him; so, in the other, I doubt that he cared as much, so he and his family became celebrities.
The interview would've been a great time to tell the public that Luthor sent a monster to rip his heart out, murdered a renowned General in the US military and a judge, assaulted his son, and is continuing to harass his family. At the very least, an investigation might lead to the corruption during his prison time and questions as to why one of the wealthiest men in the world moved to an unrenovated dump across the street from Lois Lane's Smallville office. Reporters, law enforcement and social media sleuths would be all over it. Superman is probably the most beloved and trusted person in the world.
I see Doomsday coming back to maybe help superman defeat Luther, Then maybe Doomsday sacrificing his Kryptonian heart to Clark, so that Clark won't feel the effects of a human heart anymore.

I like to believe Lex has his heart still and afte they defeat him, Clark will have to choose between going back to normal or keep his new human side and he will pick age with Lois and the boys. This was a great episode, one of my favorites out of the whole show.
I watched another reactor and they said that the reveal did set up the perfect ability for superman to "retire". Him being their to still help with major events, but allowing the boys to take over.
My second theory about a potential Cyborg Superman, besides the Brainiac + Superman’s heart idea (see my previous comment, and thanks for the ❤), is that Milton Fine/Brainiac will take over Luthor’s warsuit, with or without him in it, to operate independently from Luthor and betray him. Or possibly John Henry could hack into Luthor’s suit. We don’t know whether this world’s deceased John Henry used to design things for this Luthor-after all, there was some connection between the John Henry we know and what was originally Luthor’s warsuit from the other earth. Or Milton/Brainiac might be able to hack into John Henry’s own warsuit, like he hacked JH’s security system, and take it over. We don’t yet know the nature of this version of Brainiac/Milton Fine (Human? Computer? Combination?) or what he/it is capable of. I just think it would be strange if the writers didn’t give some sort of nod to the Cyborg character, since they’ve introduced versions of Superboy, Steel, and the Eradicator over the course of the show-three out of the four from the “Reign of the Supermen” storyline. Just sayin’.
Must admit, I was thinking at the end that Clark would get hit and bullet would lightly wound him, since he has been shown to be weaker. Gets knocked down, little blood and secret is safe, then he took off glasses.
I thought about that possibility too, while the slo-mo bullet was headed toward Clark. This show has taken us through so many twists and turns, I really had no idea which way the writers would go.
How could Luthor crush Superman’s’ heart, that will never make sense? His heart has the same cells as the rest of his body, Luther couldn’t crush Superman’s toenail so that just doesn’t wash, unless he kept the heart for himself and they put it in Luthor and that’s what makes him able to last in a suit and he crushed a fake heart. 🤔
The scene that didn't make sense to me was with Candice's dad in the diner. The bullet scene itself was great; the premise didn't make sense. If Clark weren't Superman, Emmett would be spending the rest of his life in prison for murdering someone in front of a diner full of people. If he was Superman, how do you think it would turn out if you pulled a gun on Superman? You aren't winning that fight or getting away with it, so it's a lose-lose situation. The scene I really liked was the call-outs to the Christopher Reeve movies - the helicopter save, the train disaster where Superman used his body as a replacement for the missing track, and the Eiffel Tower scene from Superman II. Great way to honor his history, show Superman stuff, and still save $$ by not having to re-create those saves on TV. Very cool!
