From what ive seen and heard bmw stock airboxes are great until u hit 20 psi in boost or 400 plus hp. Before then just very minimal to no gains and turbo noise.
Appreciate that man 👊🏾. Don’t get me wrong maybe at higher power with different turbo setups etc it may make a significant difference but this is just from my experience and experiment 🤙🏾
@@thatdieselgang yeah that’s true bro, I’ve got 19” 313s on mine and just seems to be impossible to get any spacers to work with them. I’m not that clued up on offset etc. Any chance you could make a video on what went into making your custom intake? I’m looking at fabricating some kind of CAI for mine just for the noise
@@thatdieselgang each component added needs to be programmed in so it can be utilized properly, else you dont use it to its full potential. But if your tuner did the mapping before dyno then aight.
Don't forget, on stuff like my setup, there is a point where the stock m57 330 airbox is the restriction, just don't think yours is at that point yet tbh mate.
@@thatdieselgang yeah for sure you’ll need to make sure that’s done . I think if you made more modification a and made sure you induction kit was well fed with air the results would have been different . The issue I think is 2 fold . 1 the surface area of the stock filter compared to a cone type is much larger, this preserves air flow at higher speeds. My theory is as the speed Increases air is literally sucked out of the engine bay by the under body shielding, the solution would be use a cone comparable to the stock filter surface area, mount it else where and provide adequate air flow
@@Johns51 yeah I hear you and get what you mean, I don’t think the cone could be mounted in any better position than it was unless it was literally behind the front kidneys.
@@thatdieselgang I would look behind the inner wing cover fairly large space still ish air and easy to route cold air to insulated pipe work to intake could work well
Thanks, I was told I needed a custom intake. doubt I'll bother now! Cheers

Great info, got same car, was thinking of getting one myself, but have taken your advice and putting money towards a twin pipe conversion 👍

U get a sub . We need more e9x channels
Appreciate it man thank you 🙏🏾 🤙🏾
What size are the spacers bro? I had 15mm all round and it just rubbed on the wheel arches like mad.
Alll depends on the offsets of your wheels bro so it will be working out what’s right for your set up 👊🏾 also my arches have been rolled

@@lewisb.3242 yeah man the offset things is a ballache at times.
Yeah I’ll see what I can do man 👊🏾🤙🏾
Brother you need to remap and tune the car after fitting the cold air intake.
@@bros8648 brother the car is already remapped 🤪

Yeah it probably right mate, I’ll see what it’s like when I finally get the r90, m50d rail sensor and drv30 on 👊🏾
@@thatdieselgang still sorting my stupid car out, getting rail pressure issues again😭
I’ve seen them get to 400hp with the factory intake mental really

Great info! New sub here 🫡
Thanks man, appreciate the support 🙏🏾🤙🏾
Nice video thank you sound over power mind lol
Nice one brother, appreciate the support and yeah completely agree, when I sort out a catch can set up I’ll put it back on I think 👊🏾🤙🏾
