    Daniel Roth’s Playing demonstrates how Even without all the modern electronic support expression on the organ can be transcendental. I thank Pierre Francois for making this available and for being such an enabler. What an amazing collaboration of shared passion and love of musik.

      Sainte-Clothilde, Saint-Denis, Chapelle Royale de Versailles, Saint-Louis-en l'île, Montmartre, Notre-Dame Cathedral and obviously, the magnificent Saint-Sulpice are in your wishlist, along with the recently achieved symphonic organ of Philharmonie de Paris. :)

      Thank you for this, yet another wonderful offering from M. Roth!

    That was wild! What a voice this organ has! Franck, a master composer and Roth, a master performer. I wonder what I missed during the little blackout. I appreciated showing the notions up in the corner. I like to follow along with the score while I listen.

    You have to love that chit-eating grin DR flashes at the conclusion of the piece. He just loves what he does and what he plays.
    As much as I love Dupre's work and recordings, sometimes it feels like you just left an academic lecture instead of enjoying an amazing performance.
    Daniel thankfully doesn't do this at Saint-Sulpice.

    I have a 3 CD set supposedly of all of Franck's organ works played on an American organ but this piece is not included. Different style from Franck's other compositions. This recording of Daniel Roth's superb musicianship playing on the magnificent Clicquot - Cavaille-Coll St. Sulpice instrument is wonderful. As he sometimes does Roth sings along with the melody line at times here. Wonder what was musically missing during the "intermission."

    Wonder how he got that low Bb in the Pedals since C-1 is the last pedal note on the board ...Did he snuck in a 32' bombard on the Bb for that passage ?

    why does the 32 contrabombarde sound more powerful here than in some of the more recent videos of St Sulpice? Different mic, mic placement, or sound engineering? Also sounds like there is a bit more reverb in this video.

      +Laura Marcolini Hi, I think it is only for the part where you need the B (with 32'). I will check )

    • @JRorgel
      @JRorgel 8 лет назад

      +Laura Marcolini Seems so a Franck has written the parts where you need the 32 foot reed an octave lower to symbolize that you need it there.

  • @Gyllsd1

    I do not know this piece of Franck. Is it in L'Organiste? There are registration indications, but there is an impossible low B-flat for the pedals. Where can I find it? Is an edition of it available? Please let me know.

    • @PierreFrancoisDUBATTENTI
      @PierreFrancoisDUBATTENTI  9 лет назад +3

      Gregory Gyllsdorff Dear Gregory, to answer your questions. This is a separate piece composed in 1846 and published by the edition Paris: Schola Cantorum (1973). The low B-flat is possible if you have a 32' and play the pedal part an octave higher (which is the case on the video) ^^

    • @Gyllsd1
      @Gyllsd1 9 лет назад

      Thank you so much. I appreciate it.

    • @MGJS71
      @MGJS71 9 лет назад +1

      +Gregory Gyllsdorff another possible explanation for a low Bflat is that it might have been written for an Erard pedal piano- an instrument used by Alkan (dedicatee of "Grand Piece Symphonique")whose 12 Etudes pour les pedales goes down to A below bottom C.

    at 0.55 there i a very low Bb which is below the pedal compass. I wonder why Cesar Franck wrote that.. Maybe at that point the higher Bb can be played with the 32' stop. Bach has the same note in one of his pieces. It can be played on a pedal piano... It had 35 pedals right down to Ao... or on the Marshall and Ogletree organ especially built for Cameroon carpenter whc I think goes to very low G and to top A............Any way grand playing... i hope i get to play this organ for 5 minutes....
