This makes me want to go through all of my books and magazines and make notes on what I wanted to make from each of them. I have my books entered in Ravelry. I will sometimes limit my search to just items in my library when I'm searching for a new project. It doesn't always work (and so I extend the search parameters) but it has helped me knit a few things from my books and magazines.
I should add my books into my Ravelry library! I think it would for sure help me get a better sense of what things I could make with stash right now.🧶💜
That's a great intention, to knit out of books you already have. I could do the same and would likely get a lot of satisfaction out of it. I have books that I've had for years, even decades, with patterns I have yet to try many of, and it would feel great, kind of like de-stashing yarn, but with books.
I have two goals for 2025: knit through my books, and KNIT THROUGH MY STASH I have yarns I bought 7 addresses ago that I really should give some love to, and some Japanese pattern books I'm now a strong enough knitter to work through. Just finishing my first beanie of the year from one of the Japanese books, plus I have 2 sweaters in progress from the same book!
@multicraftual if you can read a schematic, I think you can do it! Take it slow and take lots of notes in the margins, but if you understand all the pieces of a knitted garment, I think you'll actually surprise yourself 😊
What a great idea. I don't have as many books as you, but hoarding them just to look at them is definitely not the best use of them! I am definitely planning to knit two sweaters from Veronika Lindberg's book 'Knit this' and my husband bought me 'Wilderness Knits# by Linka Neumann for Christmas - glorious, glorious knits. I haven't made my mind up which yet - at the moment, I just look through it every day and fantasise. Wish I could knit quicker. Maybe I just need more practice?
I just looked up both those books and they look amazing! I can say from my own experince and having worked at a yarn store - knitting speed comes with practice. I was fairly slow a few years ago but I've gotten much faster in the last two years. Whatever speed you knit at I can't wait for you to embark on some fun 2025 projects!
Looking forward to see what you make love the idea and patterns you picked. Looking to do something similar might now add my craft books to my list of using what i have and not used as i do Multiple crafts and can never get round to it all
I am in the same boat. Love Pom Pom and Laine. I want to knit Pom Pom designs, but they often are multicolored which, in my mind, means buying lots of yarn. Then I get cold feet. But I bought yarn to make Tuskaft that is in Pom Pom. Hopefully I'll finish some projects soon to clear the decks for it. I only plan to knit 2 sweaters in 2025.
I also have a hard time starting multicolor projects because I never have the right combo of weights and colors in stash already. I just looked up the Tuskaft - omg it is so cool!
@multicraftual I decided to pregame Tuskaft and realized I could use one more skein of Ulysse in colorway Sel. Not a skein to be found in America! I might sub out some Patagonia (that I'll have to buy). It went back on hold.
I have 52 weeks of socks. (I started a pair of socks but never finished them!) I also have the knitting for olive book, but im quite unhappy with everything needing Mohair. Im really sensitive to it.
I also don't use mohair, I find it scratchy. A few replacements I've enjoyed are Yarn Citizen Trinity Cashmere as a mohair alternative or a DK weight yarn like Mochi from berroco that has the halo of a yarn held double but no mohair content.

I feel like so many of us have amazing pattern books sitting on our shelves! 📚 💜
I love the Delft look!!!! 100% support from meeeeee
Can't wait to get the doodle charts out and make a plan!

I've always been so intimated by Japanese patterns - that is so awesome you are give that book some love!

Thanks!

I feel you with trying to balance multiple crafts. It feels like there are so many things I want to make/try and never enough time.
This is a great idea! I only have four books and they're all socks but I still feel bad about only knitting one pair from one book (52 weeks).
I like to joke 52 weeks of socks is more like "many years of socks" 😂
I'm excited to knit a pair or two out of it this year.
