After doing some digging it was difficult to find which two coloured wires from the light control box it was to utilise the dimming feature with the boost gauge. Everyone says Pins 7/11 which is purple for live and black for ground. It isn’t. That doesn’t allow dimming. It’s actually the Black wire for ground (as stated) and then the blue wire with a brown trace (the wire next to black) for the live. Just thought I’d post it up here incase anyone wanted to know for future reference.
Some places do a thin metal mount that you put under the silver bezel then clip the silver bezel back on. I’m glad I’ve found there is one that the bezel works with properly as I was thinking about not getting one because of that lol.
I had the AET pod mount for a while and wasn't that impressed with it. I then saw dc 3d designs who make a 3d printed one that sits in the old vent housing and the silver ring clips over it. It now sits so much better, looks the part and the air can flow around the guage much easier due do the original housing staying in place. Cheaper too 👍
Great job Steve. Keep up the good work. Great job for thinking on your feet. And saying what you really thought of the car mob from your supplier. It looks 100 times better. Not all models of that fiesta has a crome grill. So prob blacks more common.
So glad I watched this I’ll be fitting one to my A1 and I have the adapter to fit it on boost sensor so I would of binned that T piece and not slipped the pip in the pipe so I’ll defo be doing that nice one mate.
Hi yes I did just splice in. Pins 7 and 11. Online I read this will make the light dim like the speedo etc but it doesn't unfortunately. But saying that I never dim my dashboard so doesn't matter.
Ever have any issues after fitting it? Looking to put one on my car and interested in the long term reliability. My main concern was the "pill" moving or lighting failing.
I know it’s an old video Steve but can you put links in the description for all the parts used especially the adapter plate kit for the vacuum line? Cheers bud
Great video, I have a question- what is the “pill” piece you put into the vacc hose nearest to the gauge? Haven’t seen any other videos show this and I can’t see this piece included in pictures or descriptions when looking on sites to buy from?
I have tapped in to pin 10 and 11 and I am getting no light from the gauge. I have used scotch locks and not sure if they have actually cut in to the wire or not, 🤔
@@Sparkplugsteve yeah I have used both wires from the pinned comment. Still no light. I wonder if the scotch locks haven’t properly cut in to the wire. Don’t want to take them off and have to deal with split wires 🤦🏻♂️ haha
Having major trouble finding the hose in the engine bay after I feed it through the hole above the bonnet pull. Can even find where the bonnet pull cable comes through that side its so tight down there 😫 can someone please help
How did you get the hose through the firewall? I literally just gave up. I tried taping it to a clothes hanger using harcore black tape. it just kept bending. Then I tried taping it to a long screwdriver. The screw driver went through (using alot of force) but left the hose behind! I have been trying through the existing grommet (where the bonnet release cable goes through)
condisering, you wash windows for a living. you are doing a hell of a job of your fiestas :) i would love to get in contact with you mate. best regards a car mechanic x) pls drop me a PM if you noctice this comment.
Turbosmart need to make that easier to install, you shouldn't need to go cutting metal down... Plus it'd be nice to have the chrome around it still without having to cut that down either, they need to make a revised version!
@@Sparkplugsteve any chance you know what the ID of the resistor pill is? I'm struggling to find one on eBay other than a 1.0mm and a 1.2mm originally for a Subaru Forester!
Never use metal as a pry bar on interior panel parts or anything this is plastic. A quality plastic pry bar set goes for $10 on Amazon in the states and I’m sure from other retailers in Europe.

Spark Plug Steve happy to help mate👍🏽 keep the videos coming!
I can confirm that those are the correct pins to connect to. Just installed mine 😉
Thanks for this, doing mine tomorrow and this is valuable info!
Thanks guys! This is really useful!
That's a nice set up Steve, and good to see you over come the problems with the ring fitment.
Paul I often have trouble with ring fitment.
:) :) :) lol
Good video steve not even bought my fiesta yet and I'm already picking up future mods!
what model you buying?
Excellent video! Thanks. looking forward to fitting mine to keep an eye on those pesky boost leaks :D
Thank you glad you enjoyed it

Yeh I spotted one that is a better fit after I bought this one.
Just put mine in. Works great. Thanks Steve for the assistance with this video!
How peculiar they didn’t make that mount accept the chrome ring! Top work Steve
Hi. Yes it would have made the job much easier if they did. Thanks for watching and commenting.
Your a clever bugger Steve , hats off

I have mine done the wiring but doing the vacuum line soon how did you get the brass pill out the t peice I’m struggling to do so love the videos btw
Thanks for the video. How did you remove the light switch.. I'm stuck in that stage

good vid. its still a cop out that ford didn't put one in the fiesta st, I had one standard in my focus st 2009
Am assuming you still have hot air coming throght the vent ?
Has the peel gotta be air tight around the tube when the cable ties are either side. So the air only goes through the pill and not around the edge?
Cheers Steve, saved me a ballache, again!
Great vid pal. Did not actually see what you did with the wiring side of things? Did you splice into it?
Hi yes I did just splice in. Pins 7 and 11. Online I read this will make the light dim like the speedo etc but it doesn't unfortunately. But saying that I never dim my dashboard so doesn't matter.
When you say splice into it do you mean cut it or just tuck the the two wires into the proper PIN numbers?
Ever have any issues after fitting it? Looking to put one on my car and interested in the long term reliability. My main concern was the "pill" moving or lighting failing.
The light has failed but the gauge still works fine
Great video keep them coming
Thank you naton.
Plastic trim removal tools from eBay about a fiver for a set then there's no damage to the dash or trims

Hi Steve, as requested above, can you point me in the direction of the adapter used?

10.50 in the video I explain it.
Spark Plug Steve ah I see! Great thanks very much 😁👍🏼
Is it the same as a MK8 fiesta ST.
Great video mate but did you fish out what ever fell down the pipe cos it may rattle and drive you mad ?

Hi Steve,
Did you get the resistor pill in the packaging? I didnt, thats why is ask.
It's out of the t piece
@@Sparkplugsteve
How do you take it out
Did i not show it on the video? It's been so long ago I thought I covered it.
@@Sparkplugsteve
No, but I will figure it out. Thanks
Hi Steve, min 12:51 what is that metal piece?? You cut the T and insert that metal piece in the hose??
I have this issue how did u resolve it
Get the proper adapter
My advice check the video on Car rambles
I have a 2013 diesel St. Do you think my install should be similar??
Good video. Nice work
Thank you.
Were did you get the reference adaptor from ste ? Did it come in the kit

Don't go through the middle of the grommet. Go outside of it.
@@Sparkplugsteve Thanks for the reply, how do you go outside of it? Do you bend the edge in?
I literally just found a gromet above. Bah wish I had seen it sooner! pulled ot out, made a few slits and job done.
@@Sparkplugsteve how on earth do you do that. Its the tighest thing in the workd no rool at all to ge round it
I'm having problems with this too I can't find it in the engine bay once I push it through 🙄
Is there any other way to check live boost numbers? I'm worried of a boost leak but don't want to install an entire gauge for just that 😅
Forescan logging. Do a Google on it
Is there any difference from using a boost reference adaptor and using a t-piece?
They both work but I didn't want to be cutting any of the factory hoses. Also if you plumb it in after the throttle body it won't read vacuum.

It's not turbosmarts fault. The surround is from aet motorsport. Turbosmart only made the guage and adapter.

Thanks for that much appreciated. 😀
Why add resistor pill? i have never used a pill when instaling a boost cauge
I was told it stops the guage pulsing and keeps it smooth rather than jumping up and down a few psi.
@@Sparkplugsteve seems legit, i have never had problem using pressure gauges without the pill. maybe i scould give it a try
:D
What psi in 1st gear does tour st do? And is it the smae every pull?
I'm not sure but it's lower psi in 1st.tuers not enough engine load to make the boost or need the boost.
funny vid man i feel for ya lol i have to do this tomorrow arggg
Hi mate I’m keen to buy one of these where did you buy it and how much? Does it come with everything needed? Oh and is it the 52mm one
Whooshmotorsports.com
Did you use a fuse on the gauge?
No you don’t need to the wiring your teeing into is fused and it’s only a led light not gonna draw any current that could blow a fuse.
Where can I get the t piece from?
Comes with the boost guage.
