MOSCHOPS!!! Haha great video but a Moschops is always my first tame if I can help it. Usually easy to tame, you can ride it, gather berries and fiber, fight off small-to-medium enemies, and they're so gosh darn cute! :P
this channel is so underrated, like i enjoy watching his videos but at the same time when i start a new world i always watch cj's videos to know what to do.
Tamed another iguanodon today. I use them for the seed conversion to feed baby featherlights. My last one was eaten by a small pack of Barrys a couple days ago. The Sarcos are one of my favorite early meat eaters. I’ll build a 6 pack and run a staggered formation and they’ll be my Sarco Team 6.
Never considered a sarco to be a starting tame. My tribemate and I were quite high leveled when I got totally wrecked by one on a beach. I thought I was safe on top of a boulder. Nope. Jerk could climb. And then it ate me.
Rather long Question: how far would you say one needs to come before they're No longer a "starter"? Because the required level for the Iguanodon saddle is, as you said, 32, which is almost a third of the maximum level one can reach, which I believe is 104 (excluding boss fights, chibis etc)? And the Sarco is 35. What level would you say is the cut-off point from start to mid-game? Or perhaps you don't use levels as your metric for this at all? Sorry for the long question. Love your videos 👍😁
I feel like whether or not you play on a boosted server. I play boosted since I have very limited gaming time available so I unlock engrams quickly but I still consider myself "starting" until I have a base with forge, smithy, bed, 3-4 storage boxes full of supplies (armor, weapons and rarer resources from drops) and at least 5 forever tames (a flyer, a water mount and a land mount i plan to lvl up for everyday use). Once I'm at the point where I can focus on hunting artifacts, that's Mid-game to me. End game for me is when I get to breeding for stats and battling bosses.
I have to say, I'll join team Moschops :'D Those are tames which are with me until I get better fiber gatherer. Sure Maewings can get fiber, but they are still KO tames which need saddle. Moschops are passive tame and if you find one which just ask berries, you can get it before your pet dodo ;) Berries, fiber, thatch, wood, rare flowers, meat, chitin, hide, keratin.... They are like Maewings before you can get one, minus the gliding and babysitting.
Its easy to kite, its slow and can easily trap it with just the environment. Its torpor drops super slowly and prime or mutton is easy to aquire for high taming effect. The only thing hard about them is their high torpor, so a higher quality crossbow or rifle would be good but not needed

I would also go moschops over iguanodon

Lmao I get the reference
The wolf's sniff ability also shows you nearby explorer's notes. Big plus in my books.
I see what you did there

Absolutely no one:

Reaper king is a starter tame now in genesis pt2. Tek suit, reaper queen and acid pool and boom you're pregnant

Pretty much anything below level 50 is starter tames in my eyes.
I usually tame a trike or a moschops as my firsts herbivore
Me: *has 1000+ hours logged in Ark across all platforms*

It says on the website maewings are two seater dinos but it doesn't look like you can?

When I start I don't tame, I build the skeleton of the base and then I tame the therizinosaurus with metal armour 😉
2 moschops, 2 parasaurs, 1 ptrenadon and 1 lystrosaurus

Like Masked said, even with a prim crossbow it’s an extremely easy tame.
