Fun fact actor Sylvester Stallone was also a forceps baby this is what caused partial paralysis of his face this is why his famous accent is the way it is it's not just because he is from New York but it's the fact that force used to get out the baby it paralyzed his face and almost killed his mother.

The Bowen children's lack of defensive injuries may have been due to laudanum or a similar sedative. Such drugs were commonly prescribed at the time, even for children and forensic toxicology was in it's infancy so the coroner would have had no way to test for such substances. As for Mary Bowen, post-partum psychosis seems the most likely explanation but we will probably never know for certain.
