We have a meal prep service overseas and would like to bring it to the US. The plan is to outsource a food manufactuer to produce the meals. I believe i need to hire a consultant to walk me through the process? Please advise
Hi, I appreciate the info, however I am still unsure when it comes to licensing/permits if you were referring to cooked meal kits or fresh recipe kits (such as as blue apron/hellofresh) .. if we're simply placing prepackaged items that are being bought from the store and placed inside a box to send out... Would we still require a commercial kitchen? Thanks in advance!
I would also like to know the answer to this question. Cooking vs repackaging (without cooking) are different. For example, I buy in bulk and divide it up into smaller packages (for all ingredients) gather into sizeable recipes and mail them.

Hi Cassandra. I purchase mine from Sam's and Restaurant Depot. I have used 4 different types so far. I consider how much they cost me per meal, but also how well they stand up during delivery and storage. I have found that the customers tend to not want to throw away the more sturdy ones...but that's on them. I have had to also consider how they stack as well. Soft top containers bend under pressure.

You cannot sell food cooked at home. You need to rent a commercial kitchen. There it goes your profit.
