My experience with this kind of a setup on an M8 engine is that the external filter fills up with snot after a few weeks and pukes out oil to wherever you have it routed, creating the problem that you started out to cure in the beginning. At the end of the day I just removed the filter altogether and ran the rubber hose down to the bottom of the bike and vented out to the atmosphere.
you can clean the snot out every so often too.. im ordering one to try it so ill eat my words if youre right and it becomes full too rapidly
The problem with this DK Customs kit is that it works against gravity and the blowback accumulates around the banjo fittings. The banjo fittings should be routed straight down and not up over the heads.
Under normal riding, how often do you need to dump the catch can?
better not to haver the can. it'll just leave a puddle on the floor in your garage.

Great vid man!! New sub here! I have a 06 dyna super glide. I have one question when u put the new air filter on do you have to remap it? For the air/fuel mix??? I want to do this but the dealer here said I would have to map it. They charge a lot!
Yes mate you need to map it. Changing the filter alters the fuel/air mix. Without a fuel management system like fp3 it will run incorrect

How does this product actually ventilate the crankcase if there is only a catch can? Am I missing something here?
The catch can has breather holes in the top and the oil goes into the filter layers in the bottom. Oil in air out.
If you look at this video from about the 1:30 to 2:00 mark you can see the design of the catch can pretty well.

yes.. they are teed together before they go to the filter.

Is there ever a point where installing an external breather would no longer really be worth it ? Those without and with photos at the end made my eyes pop out of my head lol.....at 9kish miles after a top end rebuild on my fxdb, I can only imagine what mine looks like inside. Another dumb question, is there a product or method out there to clean all that shit out without tearing down the motor ? Is that what the seafoam shit is supposed to be cleaning ? Kick ass production quality as always man, good stuff!
Thanks Matt... I think it's worthwhile no matter how many miles. The buildup will at least stop accumulating. Sea foam is popular for carbon build removal.. I have never used it myself. Maybe someone else out there can speak to this...
Yes, there are some chemicals for this job. Gixxxerfoo the RUclipser has a video about it.
1st remove the air filter and spray it right in the intake
2nd one day before the oil change, remove the spark plugs, spray the foam inside and let it work overnight. Next day, mount everything back, warm up the engine and make the oil change.
