    • @DKCustomProducts
      @DKCustomProducts  Год назад

      Depending on which EBS you use, this may be possible. Teflon tape or teflon paste are a great alternative/addition, because the not only prevent oil migrating down the threads, but it also works as a type of thread locker to keep the bolts from backing out.
      Harley uses o-rings on some of their systems, but they always use teflon paste in addition.
      Here is a great alternative that uses o-rings And teflon tape or paste.

      Yes, a rain sock (pre-filter) would be helpful. Your filter will come pre-oiled, but make sure you keep it oiled, you want anything that gets past the rain sock to be stopped by the oiled filter element.

    If orientation of the banjo fitting doesn't matter then why taper the ID? Isn't that just added cost?

    • @DKCustomProducts
      @DKCustomProducts  3 года назад

      The ID of what?
      Banjo can stick straight up, everything will function just fine. If you do a lot of short rides, especially in cold weather, then the oil will not all vaporize until you get it fully heated up and run long enough for it to vaporize, but this does not impair function or performance at all. The oil will just sit in the channel until you do. It does not create any backpressure that has a perceptible affect. Check out this video- at the 5:22 mark and the 13:22 mark where we talk about and show a diagram of where the oil sits until vaporized.

    Question: Why do the banjo fittings have a larger hole on one side and smaller hole on the other? In my mind there must be a reason otherwise, why would it be manufactured that way?

    • @DKCustomProducts
      @DKCustomProducts  Год назад +1

      This is a part we do not make, we purchase it. The reason for the different sizes is that the banjos have been used for multiple applications, and some of them (that don't apply to us) require the hole to be larger on one side than the other.

    Looks like a little over engineering. If the orientation of the banjo breather fittings with the
    nipples doesn't matter why machine one side of the hole bigger than the opposite side? Must be some reason. The shoulder washers appeared to be both the same size and the one that went into the larger size hole appeared to be a sloppy fit. Why pay extra for the shoulder washers if there's a possibility you have to ditch 2 of them because of an interference fit? The backside shoulder washer should be a precise fit or better yet eliminate it and machine a shoulder onto the backside of the banjo breather so it centers itself in the breather hole in the cylinder head. Then use a breather bolt with a washer built into the head for the outside. This eliminates the shoulder washers altogether and fixes the backing plate clearance issue. Also it was mentioned briefly the backing plate was 2 pieces and that was the only time it was shown or mentioned. Did I miss something?

    • @DKCustomProducts
      @DKCustomProducts  2 года назад

      We do not make the banjo fittings. We purchase them and they are the design they are because they are made to fit multiple applications with multiple shoulder washer options.
