IMPROVING AIKIDO TAI SABAKI USING A JO | RIAI METHOD

- The Riai ('blending of truths') method of Jo Tai Sabaki put together by Sensei Dunken Francis (Aikido Silverdale) to help improve body movement or Tai-Sabaki. All the moves are taken from existing Jo kata and suburi. Using the Jo exaggerates the movement and helps the practitioner to monitor any inconsistencies in their structure or bio-mechanics.

watching as we speak! great playlist
A superb idea I'll definitelt be giving this a go - love how the jo allows you to "see" the body movement more clearly
glad you liked it
brilliant idea what a fabulous way to teach this
thank you Nikos
what a good idea - will defintiely be looking into this ty
It’s good to see how the “warm up” movements transfer to the weapons techniques.
Thanks, we wanted to put in place a way to get people moving St the beginning of weapons class that reinforced the idea of "Riai". I'm sure it will continue evolving over time but this is working well atm, especially the fact both sides are trained which is often missed in pure suburi.
Love this!
great series, beautiful dojo too
thank you
Excellent
Thanks Jason
nice movement.
ta, appreciate the kind words

Very well done, I always wanted to do this, thanks for sharing I subscribe to you thanks again 😎
Thank you! Lot's more in production, just playing around with which mics to use whilst in movement etc. Anything particular you'd be interested in seeing?
Be interested to hear what people think about this as an idea?
we use this as our regular warm up at the beginning of every 'weapons' class. works well
