You're absolutely right. For me, it isn't just sadness but also anger. I have repressed rage inside of me that manifests itself in all kinds of ways; exhaustion, sadness, lack of interest in things I used to enjoy, as well as physical anxiety causing stomach pain. It's something I've struggled with since I was a teenager, and I didn't realize at the time how fucked up my childhood really was.

While it's true depression is a chemical imbalance in the brain, and people can have a genetic predisposition to developing it... Environmental and social factors are often overlooked.
Chemically, what happens in the depressed brain of a battered spouse who carries early childhood trauma and lives an isolated life of misery, is the same as what happens in the brain of someone who "has it all", yet is depressed.
For a lot of people, changing their situation will be part of curing (or coping with) depression.

I've recently developed a sense of humor out of it though, and that is legit one thing that keeps me interacting with people. It gives me a reason to smile along even if it's not for myself. Personally, I think the worst way to deal with it is drugs. All you are doing is attempting to block symptoms this way. But without taking steps to remove that stress out of our lives, you will be a victim of your stress forever!

yes, because this world is not our real home...if you read and understand the bible you will understand what I mean...and things aren't going to get better, but worse and worse, so thanks God Jesus is coming back very soon to finish all the evil and pain finally... we need the real rest that comes only from God-hope everybody will realize it and try to have it for themselves...let's humble ourselves, pray and read the bible everyday, so that we can be saved when Jesus comes soon...it is our own choice to make- it's either good/God or evil/satan, there is no middle ground ...

Deep rest.... I think that is what funerals are for....
But for real. Depression is a normal part of life that affects pretty much everyone. The difference between most people is how they handle their depression.
      1. Some soldier through it, learn what is causing it and then performs a correction in there life. (Take for instance, I quit drinking alcohol 3 years ago, and bettered myself).
      2. Some embrace it and become worthless to themselves and others around them. These people typically can't maintain a job, relationships, and their lives are pretty much on hold.
      3. Then you have the medicators. They think that the Drugs they get from the street or the Doctors will help. But honestly it never cures them, only puts a band-aid on their problems while they zombie around. I honestly fear pharmaceutical drugs of this type much more than illegal drugs as most of those block serotonin and dopamine in a very unhealthy way!
However, I don't have a 1 size fits all solution, despite how our medical profession seems to claim they do, while they screw up our children and friends even more, in a lot of cases.

There is always hope, depression is the lack of motivation or vision of a better tomorrow. This may Be due to chemicals in the brain.... I call it the spiral, when you choose good, (even little things) the spiral goes up, then when things improve you continue to spiral upwards, and so on. The same goes for the downward spiral. Bad things happen and you dwell, that pulls you down the spiral a little farther and things get worse and worse from there. Social media has caused more depression than anything as whole.

I was sure things would never get better as sure as I was that water was wet. It made me tired, lethargic, sick.

Believe me, I have wished that it was a way out, but, newsflash, it’s not. Anyone who does it typically returns to a new lifetime very quickly. Starting over might sound ok, but the problem is, by doing an act of self-destruction, difficult karma must be carried into that new life. My sister was back within six months & She announced to the family in a dream the circumstances of her reincarnation. Indeed, we have thousands of lifetimes. We are eternal. There’s a lot more to know about the downside of ending it early, but I will stop there.

He said it well and correctly. Even in my brain, something changed and responded. This is very accurate. Deeply unhappy people with depression are forced to wear masks, pretend, smile and force themselves to live like everyone else. The body is depleted and life becomes more and more difficult. And we begin to dream of a vacation, somewhere in the wilderness, far from everyone, but at the same time we live here and with great difficulty we get up in the morning, put on a mask and go to work, but the body wants rest and everything hurts. I really need that deep rest but I cannot afford it - have to pay my bills sliding deeper and deeper into depression.

I now carry around a sadness that follows me everywhere, even though I’ve succeeded in becoming a person that many would wish to be it’s a sadness so deep that I’m unsatisfied. I've heard that so many times and it often serves only to re-inforce what many judge to be the cause of depression. In some cases it may be relevant but for many it is not. As someone who has given the most part of my life serving others both in and outside of my working life and looked after relatives, I know the running battle with depression I've had has little or nothing to do with lack of service or thought or care towards others. I don't begrudge any of it.. Am I saying I"m perfect?. No way !. Having said all this there was a period of depression in my late teens for which a determination to love others no matter what they thought of me, did greatly help and thereafter I thought I was an authority on the subject of depression. I was not - as later episodes of a different kind of depression were to prove.
What has kept me going through it all was an encounter with Christ and thereafter a resolute faith in Him. He has sustained me through this running battle with depression and I often have the upper hand. Why I have not been completely healed I don't know but I do know Him and I do know that my ongoing struggle has given me empathy with others and also there have been and still are times of deep appreciation of any form of goodness and beauty.

Aside from not wanting to get up, it’s also extreme anger. It’s like everything that I could once put up with to the nth degree is bothering me so much now. Im angry and overwhelmed at everything that doesn’t work the way my brain thinks it’s supposed to. And it’s like it won’t compromise.

My doctor put me on antidepressants and everybody started asking me was I depressed and after hearing what I just heard from Jim Carrey now I can definitively say yes I was depressed because when I was asked if I was depressed or not my answer was well I sleep a lot and don't want to get out of bed every morning I wake up and open my eyes I say to myself god no not another day but now Jim puts it in the way he does makes a lot of sense to me. deep rest. And the funny thing is Because Jim Carrey says deep rest I was on the go for 2 years solid my father had stage 4 lung cancer and I was sleeping on the sofa in his house with my brother sleeping upstairs I was just down to help out but I would come back home to my apartment and go down to my father on and off for 2 years sometimes stay down there for a month and come home to my apartment for a week but when it was all said and done on the 31st of August 2022 I didn't sleep for a 9 Days but then all of a sudden I could not sleep enough I was sleeping all day every day. If there is anything good to come out of depression it was the dreams I had they were very very vivid it was like I had another life while I was asleep if I had to get up to go to the toilet I would keep my eyes closed to try and stay in the dream if that makes any sense but also suffer with addiction problems alcohol mainly methadone and benzos but really like how he has simply defined the word depression

I was just thinking about this the other day, about who we were as kids and who we are now. We can't even recognise ourselves. And some of you may say that's because we're adults now, but that's not it. I think we've been told so many times throughout our lives that we should be like this or like that -- that we literally can't remember where we starded from as individuals, and haven't got a lot of chances to be ourselves and experience ourselves in this life. So yes, people who are depressed are feeling that they lost control of their life a long time ago. That's what I believe. And if that is the case, they should know that they have the power to take it back anytime!
So, Jim's friend is right, Deep Rest from being someone else who you don't even recognise, and starting being connected with your inner true self is the answer!

Speaking as one with 55 years manic/depression cycling and all the strategies one creates to embrace life, one can deep rest into the grave. There are times deep rest is called for, but one must challenge one's physiology and choose life at whatever level can be actualized. What I hear him saying in part is, give yourself permission to deeply rest and unharness from the messages of the restraints. I would add never label yourself as being the malady, but simply I have such and such. Be independent of the latest boxes regarding a diagnosis and steer your betterment. And yes, love and time heal better than anything.

So in Geology, the term Depression means a landform sunken below an area.
And that's how I've always thought about Depression compared to Sadness, Sadness comes and goes and appears and disappears depending on the situation but Depression stays with us and we can easily cover it up with something like a mask we put up or a character that we become in order to hide it.
Depression stays with us and while you may be able to cover it up, the ability to actually fill that void or make that empty spot inside of you grow from the inside out into something that will flourish, it's never going to be as easy as the difference between Sadness and Happiness interchanging in your day-to-day activities.

Well when you already have issues then you sell out to Hollywood that's definitely not healthy. I'm sure not that he's pulled back a bit he's in a better spot but not fully recovered. I've wanted to kill myself for 30 years 😂 I figure it's the way I'll go that's how bad depression gets and it's always in the background hanging over me. So I'm sure it's always right there for him waiting to get set off. He's clearly in a unhealthy bubble painting pictures of Donald Trump because he hates him. That shows me he isn't even fully awake and aware yet about how he's being manipulated buy his Hollywood bubble and mainstream media. I'm no fan of Donald Trump but people need to really wake up in regards to the manipulation and propaganda we are getting flooded with that alone is enough to depresse you especially when you don't have the Financial status of Jim Carry. But it will all be over soon thankfully because the world has definitely gotten worse in 50 years and people have gotten dumber just by the technology they are tied to like modern day slaves.

For me sadness and depression is the difference between a rational feeling and an irrational feeling. Feeling down when bad things happen is very normal and totally rational. My very worst time of depression was when outwardly everything was going better than ever but the deep sense of unhappiness or loneliness.... I don't even know whatever that thing was, that feeling of utter hopelessness was not a rational thought.
