Orlando may have a lot of fun things to see and do, but is it worth it to live on the doorstep of the magic kingdom?

We do have seasons here. They are tourist season, love bug season, hurricane season, and Summer.
This is so true. 🤣
LOL'D
Don't forget Snowbird season
@@rob46711 That is the one season I try hardest to forget, lol.
Lol,, so true
Should’ve mentioned traffic and Interstate 4, which has the highest death rate among any US freeway
Not surprised. I live over 700 miles away and every time I see a Florida tag their driving is usually questionable. And that's being nice.
I live in Orlando and I didn't know that
I-4 is so bad my parents would take any other street besides i-4 bc traffic and accident risks
Let's not forget the sandlake and John young intersection...
@Joe Scholar You people in Florida are snowflakes driving in Florida is easy try driving on the 5 in California. I still love freeway driving you just zoom along.

2. You don't have to shovel rain.

Haha exactly what I was thinking and I live in Tn
I don't care how tough you are, I was born in Orlando in 1978 and have lived here my whole life and I still am not used to how hot it gets in Florida!! I don't care how tough you are, IT'S HHHHOOOOOOTTTTT🌅🌅🌅🌅
I moved from orlando to saint cloud less crowded
Orlando is behind Miami like 20 years, everything is terrible, and beside the people has a bad aptitude, I don't know what they think, I prefer be living in Little Havana in Miami.
Agree, Naples resident since 1993 but I always hate the heat!
I love it I work out in it and I wouldn’t have it any other way.. your prolly one of those people who tells everyone how hot it was today when going from your office a.c to your car a.c ..

My house cost me $125,000 and it has 1,600 square feet in a good neighborhood. Now, it's worth $220,000....AND very low property taxes. Plus, we have no state taxes. A friend of mine lives in New Jersey and his property taxes are ELEVEN THOUSAND per year. LAST, we live one hour from a wonderful beach, 3 hours from the Gulf of Mexico and 3 hours from amazing St. Augustine, the oldest city in the US.

Lots of fun events in nearby Daytona Beach too.

Lived in Orlando for 2 years. Worst place I have ever lived.
1. Job market is bad, very low pay compared to the rest of the country.
2. High cost of living compared to low wages.
3. Theme parks are the biggest employer, which creates a lot of issues.

5. No way to escape the constant heat.
6. Locals are not friendly.
Love Orlando but so much construction going on right now 🔥😡
Yup, I-4😡

Yes a lot of construction the economy is booming in Orlando. When the recession hit in 2007/8 it hit Orlando really hard.

Perfectly described Toronto
Toronto is an awesome city and way more expensive than Orlando
@@SillyPutty3700 toronto was an awsome city before politicians destroyed it with out of control immigration. You can't save it now it's out of control.

I was born in Daytona Beach and have lived in the Orlando area..Kissimmee...since 1989..and I love it here!! No snow!!! LOTS of fun things to do!
Leila I love living here
Born In Kissimmee myself. It's just too humid. My allergies just kill me with the hot stagnate air. But the coast is nice. Moving to Merrit Island soon to retire.
Kissimmee is ugly and tacky looking yikes

A Lot of Crime in Kissimmee a Big Deal
Interesting to see a take on Orlando. I have lived in Orlando since 2001. Here are my thoughts, bugs are overrated I have lived multiple places in Orlando and not had any issues with bugs. Heat/humidity does take time to get acclimated to but for someone like me who likes being able to wear shorts and tshirts year round there are pros and cons to it. The first 10 years it was super awesome. The past 5 years crowds and rising housing costs have made it more expensive. However i grew up near Los Angeles so Orlando is super cheap compared to California. Even in 2023 there plenty of condos for under $200,000 and plenty of homes for under $350,000. Couple that with no state income tax, it is still one of the most affordable big cities in the U.S. Yeah it’s not on the ocean 🌊 but it’s location makes it easy to visit either coast. I’d say the worst thing about it is that it is all a victim of its own success and growing too fast. It seems like every month multiple new restaurants and apartments buildings are popping up bringing more and more crowds and people so the traffic has become very bad. It’s one of the fastest growing big cities in the U.S.
I was thinking to relocate to Orlando 😢😢😢
Unfortunately i already live here
Me too... I miss the 4 seasons, not so much the snow but it always gave you something to look forward to. And the holladays never feel like holidays anymore, summer all year plays on you after a while.
“Unfortunately”?
Apopka here. Wyoming bound 👍
Move then
J NC unfortunately I was BORN here
I love Orlando regardless of all of this..couldn’t be happier with my home in Lake Nona :)
Nice area.
And tell me what Lake None has to offer nothing, at 6:00 PM everything is down, like living in a dead town, almost no lights at the street, which make a good place for everything against the people living there.
Overpriced
Agreed! Cant believe all of the ignorant uneducated remarks on here. lol
Lake Nona es beautifu.
I've lived in Orlando my entire life; 35 years. This video could have easily been made into "the top 50 reasons. . .". For those saying, "why don't you move, then!?", don't worry. I am
To be honest no where is perfect. I'm currently in the process of relocating from Colorado Springs, CO to Orlando, FL for a lot of reasons:
#1: The cost of houses in Colorado are insane! I already purchased my house in Orlando, FL and the same house would cost around $600,000 in Colorado.
#2: There is nothing to do in Colorado outside of hiking, mountain climbing and skiing. I love beaches, pools and theme parks. All of these things are non-existent in Colorado.
#3: Worst drivers in the world live in Colorado Springs, CO. I've had guns pointed at me, people trying to run me off the road, etc. Pretty much an average day in Colorado. I know Orlando, FL has tourists but ill trade any day for tourist / old people driving vs the most aggressive drivers in the world.
#4: Same job I have in Colorado is the same job I have in Florida.
#5: All the potheads are moving to Colorado.
#6: It hails almost once every 2 weeks in Colorado, wildfires are devastating, and the heat feels just as bad since it has higher elevation. Ice and snow i'm used to but like I said no where is perfect.
Orlando, FL here i come!
Marc Mattison don’t do it you’ll be sorry 😐
Don’t do it you’ll be sorry there’s nothing that would take me away from Colorado Springs it is so beautiful there
I grew up in Orlando, but that was in the 1960's. It was great then, but I was a kid and the orange groves were my playground. Today, there are no more orange groves in Orange County, Florida. I moved away in 1973 and the population of the metro area was still under 100,000. Today it's over 2 million. Winters were good. All the other months were hot. During the summer, expect the 2 o'clock rain/thunderstorm. It will be decent...then around two it will rain to make things nice and humid. Then it clears off and the afternoon heat moves in. You won't want to be outdoors then.
Welcome Marc! I think you will love Orlando! I was born and raised here but have also lived in Atlanta, Chicago and Minneapolis. They were all great places but I missed Orlando's warmth and being able to get to the beach in 60 mins.
We moved to Orlando and lasted six months and we came back to Colorado.. Good luck the people there suck
The reason there are no basements in Florida is the high water table.
And sand does not support under ground very well.
Kind of ironic considering that Florida is one place where you would want a basement. if the air conditioning breaks in the middle of the summer, the basement is the coolest part of the house. Cold air is dense. It sinks to the basement.
@@TheGeoScholar or you just get your ac fixed like everywhere else. And it's not the cold that's sinking it's the heat that rises. Cold is just the illusion of the absence of heat I'm just sayin!
@@K.B.Williams Yes you get the AC fixed. I'm talking about in the meantime, before getting it fixed. Cold is not an illusion, or just the absence of heat. It's about temperature. Take it from a geographer.
If your AC breaks you turn on fans and carry on.
I was born in FL I only live 30 east of Orlando and it’s very hot here I have never gotten used to the heat here it’s too damn hot
And buggy
I work overnights here in orlando when i wake up the heat is long gone i turn my ac off at night because im at work which makes my electric bill 20 bucks a week also way less traffic at night 🤙🏾🤙🏾🤙🏾 i love it
Don’t turn your air off at night, you’ll get mold in your place
Florida generally equals low wages. I have family there who are MD's and live great but they say good jobs are hard to come by. Remember if a state is a right to work state its simply code for low crappy wages.
It's because we don't have a state income 5ax so salaries aren't adjusted for it like California's 13%.
@@ubermac85 I am talking just flat out low wage. A friend of my mine was looking to move to Florida and she is a RN, the startimg yearl salary was about 55 thousand here in Ma. more like 80 and she is making over 100 thousand.
Right to work for less state.
Yes right to work states are different than paying union wages. I go to states that are unionized and that is straight crap.
Scott Gibson “Right to work” means that if you are an insane, lazy moron you get paid off the work of others. UNIONS SUCK!!!
Every single thing more than true, as I used to live in Orlando 13 years, and yes, salaries are the biggest joke, I live in Texas 2 years ago, I like here much better.
Seriously? Is Orlando really that bad? I've been planning to move there, which is best visit or live?
Tom Jones i am moving to Orlando August 19th 2019 with my girlfriend and what this person is saying is dump stuff Orlando is the best place to live in Florida

I have lived here from years. The only thing I would change is the fact that there is no coast here. That is it. I absolutely love it. My area is very clear, great apartment, the people are fun and I wouldn’t change anything about this city. 🍊 🌞 🏝
P.S. yes...love bugs are annoying, but I will gladly do that for a few weeks a year A MILLION TIMES over the cold in the North.
I LOVE ORLANDO. There are pros and cons to every state, city, and town.
Relax, drink some lemoade.... Or you can go or stay up north in an ice-box.
Not being directly on the coast is to the city's benefit. Hurricanes weaken before they hit the city and being 100 feet above sea level means no flooding. And the beach is only 45 minutes away.
Samuel what is a good place to move to... in orando...
ahhhhhh, the cold. So unbearable for those who hate a break
Yeah but it’s only 45 minutes to a beach lol
Don't come to Florida. Low pay high rent now.
Stay where you are don't come to florida we not well come you
I guess all the New Yorkers that are moving to Florida by the droves just do not want to pay the insanely high taxes in New York. There is no State tax in Florida.
@@cjohnson7251 Florida do have state tax. Florida have the highest Federal Tax in the US. Florida do have state tax, but they don't call State Tax. They call it road tolls. Is everywhere in Florida. Don't let Florida fool you. You do pay state tax, one ways or another.... All Republicans State is not good to live in, believe me, I know so.
Lucky luck still doesn't make it state tax! Yes, there are tolls, but that doesn't count as a tax! And every state with no state tax have other ways to get money from you so it's not like there's that one state where you don't pay so much taxes, states find their ways!

Briggs the Amtrak Auto Train is a perfect way to travel to the Orlando area from up north
Hey Briggs, I know that you briefly mentioned traffic, but you should have come across that vine that all the locals know as I-4. Currently under modification, it is certainly still one of the most dangerous highways in the US by the mile.
You say "currently under modification" like they haven't been working on the same stretch of road for the entire 15 years I've lived here🤣
It takes me over an hour to get from downtown to Disney for work (only 19 miles) both there and back because I4 is packed with traffic on the way there and shut down to one lane at night on the way back😭🤯
For now, they're done modifying it. Next, they have to do the other 40 miles of a project called I-4 Beyond The Ultimate in which they're improving the capacity of the interstate throughout the Orlando Metro Area, which is a good move considering all that damn traffic we have
Oh as a local I do not downplay the brutality of the heat, it’s like that heat wave you get from opening your oven after it’s done preheating, only all over your body... it gets brutally hot here

Juan Diaz I-4 goes cross-state from Daytona to Tampa, through Orlando. I’ve lived in Florida for the past 25 years so I’m well aware of this road. I avoid it at all costs. I live in Tampa, and when I go to my parents house in Palm Coast, I take I-75 north to Ocala, then take SR40 east across the state so I can avoid that shit road I-4.

Unfortunately yes, I have made that mistake several times....WAZE helps a lot, a whole lot.
i-4 blows no matter what time of day you are on it.
Yes! I was on vacation stayed at Champions gate community. My first time vacationing and not staying at an hotel and getting around just to the parks on a shuttle bus. @Raul Ceja Hi friends, I was thinking move from SF,CA Bay Area to either 1 of those cities for Real Estate investment and grow family b/c SF is too expensive (though I own my a duplex) and liberals make everything-upside-down-laws help the illegals, homeless, drug Zombies, etc at the cost of legal citizens we pay more tax, here are the list to consider, pls advise: 1) DFW, TX; 2)Austin,TX; 3)Houston,TX; 4)Orland, FL; ... maybe 5)Tampa,FL. What do u guys advice b/c I have not visited any of these cities. Thx:). btw, I'm conservative R.E. investor - hunger for success and don't like the idea of tax the rich=punish success to help the illegals/homeless/Zombies/lazy/druggies/etc, so I won't bring any liberal CA mindsets b/c I'm a biz-man like Trump - even Trump changes his primary residence from NYC to FL pay 0% tax:).
My Brother moved from Orlando to Austin, he tells me that TX is way nicer. I told him different strokes for different folks
Hell with Orlando lived there got tired of traffic an tolls moved back to Hollywood...10 min away from beach👍
The best reason to move to Orlando: no snow.
I live in Sarasota for the past 15 years. I love the beaches, I got used to the hot and humid weather. In Florida you have to have your own business in order to get a decent living. Companies pay too little..or you must be a professional like doctors, lawyers, or have a specialty occupation. Florida’s economy is based on Tourism, Services and Elderly people.
Having lived in Houston my whole life, I discovered I’m done with heat, bugs, traffic, etc. Oddly enough Orlando was one of the places I wanted to live at when I was a kid...things have changed since then!
Fort Collins next, please!
Oh yes a lot of young Floridians that were born and raised in Florida are moving to Colorado since the cost of living in Florida is going up but minimum wage is not going up.
I had no idea Orlando was expensive. Thanks.

I live in Cape Canaveral. Coming from out West to be near mom. This place is absolutely miserable.
My first impression of Orlando was wondering how they control the mosquitoes. After the walking-in-to-a-hairdryer feeling getting off the plane...
The answer is: they don't because it's impossible. And they seem particularly vicious in the summer.
Stay away from bananas in the summer and they won’t be that bad lol
Coming from a Florida-born-and-raised person who works at a theme park, there’s another thing to consider if you’re thinking of moving down here or visiting for Universal or Disney - FLORIDA WEATHER ISN’T CONSISTENT!!!!!!!!!!
It’ll seriously be all bright a sunny for part of the day, raining for five minutes, sunny for ten, lightning and thunderstorms for hours, clear and humid for hours, and then it’ll end with rainstorms going into the night or morning. And don’t think hiding in your car and waiting it out will help - sometimes the rain won’t leave an area for a good amount of time.
That means if you plan to go to the theme parks, be prepared for the outdoor rides to close and the indoor rides and shows to get packed, or being prepared to spend extra cash just to get ponchos and umbrellas if you don’t want to carry them around.
My X talked me into moving to Orlando in 95. I checked job availability but in hind sight didn't take wages, bad move, went from 20+ and hour to 8.35 and hour. Granted 4 years later I was one of the highest paid in the company as a gradall operator, I was really a utility operator anyway I was also a musician and when the music scene left Seattle, it went to Orlando.. & Marie 3, Creed, Collective Soul was from Atlanta but got picked up in Orlando. Garth Brooks was "discovered" in Orlando. Ian Gillian, Janie Lane, people like that live and lived there, Limp Biscuit. When we moved there my hair was halfway down my back, 2 years later it was 4 inches long lol. Full Sail is there, one of the biggest sound and graphics engineering schools in the country. Lot of stories from there. That would take hours for just the funny crap I ran into doing maintenance and road construction.
I moved to Orlando from up north and half of what you say is true... haven't experienced a hurricane yet. Alligators don't come out much plus they're smaller here. Bugs aren't any worst than a summer up north. Winters are great. There's wild peacocks here so that's nice to look at. Tourists suck at driving yes but they keep the city lively.
This month's electric bill $349 a/c runs almost 24/7 in the summer.
Similar to my heat bill October through April.
Hell na i pay 20 dollars a week
Wow, Karl, that seems very high for an electric bill granted I have no idea of the size of your home or how much you need to use the electricity. I did want to mention though, a few years ago I had an almost 10 year old A/C that I had patched up several times over the years. After I started patching it up (new compressor, outside fan, capacitor, etc) it too would never shut off and still didn't seem to cool my house like it should. My electric bill went up a lot as a result and after my 2nd compressor went out, I replaced the unit with a new, slightly larger unit. That made all the difference in my electric bill. My A/C no longer ran all the time and didn't seem to struggle like the old one did. If your A/C is getting old, you might consider replacing it. My electric bill ended up going down over $100 with the new unit and I live in central Florida, too.
My parents retired in Orlando and I lived there for a few years. It is the worst. No mass transit which leads to horrible traffic. the heat is ungodly and the jobs do not pay well in general. I always said a great place to visit horrible place to live. Thankfully my parents are moving back to NY in a few months. I will never have to go to that state again.
YOUR FUKIN KIDDING NEW YORK
I've lived in Florida for 27 years and I've seen Tampa, Miami and Orlando Florida. There are other areas but these are the areas best known.
I've recently spent a lot of time in the Waterford lakes area in Orlando. The area is filled with amazing restaurants, activities and a robust night life.
Sure, living in the area where the parks are, does have its negatives.
Andover Lakes here. This area is by far the most affordable, easiest traveling, diverse with activities and great neighborhoods for the average family.
I have lived here in Orlando for 31 yrs, and I still haven't get used to the heat.
You haven’t mentioned about the crime in Orlando. Orlando has crime in the city.
Anthony Thong every big city has crime in the city
Actually our crime rate is down compared to last few years
Compared to other cities Orlando's size they are middle of the road in crime stats. Not really bad enough to make an issue.
World According To Briggs oh ok. I mean I saw this before in a RUclips channel called Watchmojo where they added Orlando on the Top 10 Most Dangerous City in the U.S. list.
Anthony Thong I don’t think it’s even close to being in the ten most dangerous cities
My biggest issue, besides the obvious brutal heat, is the god awful lonnnnnnnng traffic lights mixed in with the crazy traffic.
I'm moving to the Sarasota area , it's amazing there on all metrics compared to Silicon Valley. Gr8 video as always 👍❤
Never lived in Orlando but did live in South Florida and I cannot disagree with your points. The humidity is terrible. On the upside, the weather should be nice for you in October. For me the most bearable times of the year was late October to early March, the rest of the time the heat and humidity is unbearable.
I was born and raised in Orlando. I'll be the first to tell you, the heat IS that BAD. I wouldn't apply makeup until I got to work and washed my face. Otherwise I'd look like the Joker when I arrived, not being dramatic. I love my home but the cost of living took a toll on me. I moved away 13 years ago and I still feel homesick from time to time. Florida fun fact: no matter where you are in the state, you're never more than 50 miles away from the beach. 🌞
def not 50 miles anywhere in the state! i mean close but not 50 more like 70 to 80
I have worked outside for the last 20+ years and yes anything below 70 is cool. But in the winter months it's not uncommon to see 30-40° for about a month or so.
Don’t forget about the “probably” worst part of florida is the bad drivers
I’ve been in Orlando for a decade for work. Im leaving thid bedazzled swamp as soon as possible. Stay away.
Drain the swamp
Later Tater
I relocated to Orlando because of a job transfer in 1983. I came from a major city in the midwest. There are basically two seasons in Central Florida, reasonably comfortable and unbearable. The comfortable season runs from November - April. The rest of the year ranges from warm to unbearably hot. The humidity in the unbearable months runs about 90 % + . Tourism drives the overall economy with the theme parks being the drivers. Housing costs are all over the board but a 3 bedroom/ 2 bath, 2000 SF house will run you from $ 225,000 - 350,000 depending on the area and this would be for a 10 year home or older. High end, gated communities in suburban areas would run considerably more. This community is 55 miles from Daytona Beach and about 130 miles from St.Petersburg/ Clearwater on the gulf coast. If you don't come to Orlando with a professional job/ education you can expect to make a nominal or hourly wage. It is not a port city like the Tampa , Jacksonville, Miami areas. There are no state income taxes in Florida.
Driving on I-4 two times a day, every day, is the worst thing about Orlando...I very much don’t like having to endure the deadliest road in America all the time. There are more deaths per mile on the Orlando stretch of I-4 than on any other interstate in the entire country.
No cold weather is the greatest benefit of all! This guy is just a funny guy 😂
Coors, beer flavored water.
That's some good water!
Ben Gahzi Jr. Lone Star beer! The horse piss that made Milwaukee famous.
All the new Yorker have move down there! Its basically the 6 borough lmao
Tampa would be the 7th

Yeppp in Kissimmee and poinciana.
😂😂😂🤣🤣🤣😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂💯💯💯💯💯 Big facts they should call Florida Flowyork now
mari turcios-martell ESPECIALLY in Kissimmee! Lol Poinciana aka little Bronx
@@swayfx4447😂😂😂😂 poinciana was nothing but woods but now is populated. I remember when it was nothing but fields like nova road, now you got subdivisions.
I've lived in Orlando since 1995. I have not been to Disney since 2004. The heat with humidity is unbearable. Love bugs this year were unbelievable and my truck massacred thousands. They stink too. I-4 is the absolutely the worst road in America. Several hurricanes made me either have to move because of damage. Or no electricity for a week or more.
My problem is Orlando is a swamp trying to be sold as a tropical paradise. I can deal with the bugs and the heat but not for these prices.
I'm very confused. do people actually consider moving to Orlando? like voluntarily?
Yes, my dumb ass did, regret it too, now trying to leave!
@@rosemarie6677 Why did you regret it if I may ask?
More than half of the people who live in Florida weren't born here. We always have tons of people moving here.
@@Primalxbeast I was just kidding. stop typing
Richard, I just don't like it here, all for the reasons the poster said.. For ppl who like Florida, that's nice, I can't stand it.. I prefer the 4 seasons and up North where you get paid some real money.. It's ridiculous down here to me, imo!
Orlando is home and Orlando is ONE of the many beautiful places you can visit or live in America. Sometimes it’s best to keep your personal negative opinions to yourself.
Brian D
Exactly I loveOrlando
What are you ? The devil
I went to Orlando for the first time last week and found something that I absolutely fell in love with. I-75 NORTH.
I lived there and you pretty much covered it all. While there's tons to do, everything costs top dollar, including parking. Going to the bar will easily cost you $100 without food.
And the traffic/careless drivers. OMG! May the Lord be with you.
No way you made this list without mentioning how bad I4 is. It's one of the worst constructed highways in the country
Griffin Maxwell right
Residents don't use the I4 - we avoid it.
I was shocked. I really expected that to be number one on the list. As someone who lives in Volusia County and drives to Tampa regularly the first thing I do when I make the trip is listen to the I-4 traffic report to see what I'm going to hit. It's terrible and it's getting worse.
It's not bad when there are no cars or trucks.
I lived in Fla. for 10 years. I'm one of those people who like it HOT and hate being cold. But you know what I hate more than the cold. Florida(ass backwards place). If someone asked me to name two good things about Fla. It warm and leaving Fla. is good. Five years ago I moved back home to Ohio. I have to be cold half the year, but I'm happy all the year.
@IsThisTheKrustyKrab? Why does Fla. have so many pawn shops?
I also lived in FL for 10 years and I like warm weather too, can't stand the cold, I grew up in Maryland, now live in North Carolina, some winters we get snow, other winters we don't. I don't mind the changing seasons as much as I used too. But like you I am happy all the time in NC and I was miserable in FL.
IsThisTheKrustyKrab? I lived just north of the Orange County/Seminole County border in Winter Springs area, but I worked in UCF area & had another job that took me all over Orlando.
Lived there till I was 18 and joined army back in 2000.. Hated to sweaty nights, the heat but loved the fishing.. That's why I move to Seattle area and never looked back. Lol
Always get tornados when hurricanes pass over...makes a mess. In the Summer when there’s extreme humid / heat I walk slow so I don’t break a sweat walking from my car into a store. LOL! 😆
Be sure to visit Orlando’s “Paramore District” for a real exciting time! 👍
Lol!!! 👍🏼
Ha!
😂😂😂
Hans Landa lmao
Yea, you are really funny 😂😂😂😂😂your a miserable person because black people are surviving the community that white supremacy put us in.,,.
If I were a senior citizen, Florida would NOT be my first choice... I'd rather go west... to a desert...
Water, big major problems out west. Betta bring a tanker out there.
Sedona is where its at, screw Florida. I want hike, mt bike and live an active lifestyle.
The west is the best
@@mtadams2009 pretty area sedona
@Real Nigga likewise for your kidneys if your not careful you can fuk em up bad.
We thought about moving to Florida once; and then went to a wedding there where the wedding party was taken on a bus. It was in the hottest month in Florida and my glasses fogged up and the humidity cured me of this. And the bus windows fogged up. The humidity was like soup. Your dressed up standing outside for maybe 20 minutes while everyone's gathering and sweating profusely. Cured me of moving there.
If you think it is hot and humid in Orlando then you wouldn’t like Texas or the Deep South- Arkansas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama or Georgia. The min difference is that our summer is 4-5 months long; however come visit us in October through December or February through March when the temperatures are mild and the humidity is very low. As others have said, no place is perfect.
Come to Michigan so you can enjoy the Polar Vortex during the winter, extreme humidity during the summer, and a crippling economy where 30k per year is considered very good. Don't forget the high crime rates all over the state and no fault insurance.
Ethan I’m in Farmington Hills and I feel your pain!
Couldn't agree more with this. This last winter was brutal and likely the final straw for most of us
Yep
Well, I have to agree about the weather and job opportunities.
The best way to deal with the weather is to understand that it's a semi tropical environment. You WILL wear summer clothing year round. You WILL think that Willis Carrier was the most important man who ever lived in the 20th. Century and you Will accept and embrace those facts!
As far as job opportunities are concerned you will go farther if you open your own business. Otherwise, get use to minimum wage!
Gil Davis finally a common sense comment, I agree, every state has cons and pros.
I’ve live in Orlando and been here my whole life and so much has changed. Over crowded, terrible traffic, airport is always busy, crime, greedy developers who don’t care about community impact and politicians who allow them to get away with it. Much to love too and there are many areas in our state where one can go to escape.
This is absolutely spot on. I go to UCF and it’s a bit less touristy here but it still suffers from high rent and almost every other thing on the list
You forgot the worst part toll roads and they never seem to get paid for now I 4 will be a toll road
Was vacationing there a few weeks ago staying in Davenport and just to the airport went through 3 tolls! I was shocked.
You forgot Lego Land..lol..and The Orlando Eye..👁😊😉
Serena S it’s called ICON now! 😆
@@samanthaandrews-jarvis3630 What!? It is? Lol
Serena S yep, for over a year! It’s called ICON Orlando. I liked the name Orlando Eye better
@@samanthaandrews-jarvis3630 Me too! Like The London Eye. Maybe a copyright issue? I was born and raised in Orlando, but Irma did me in, so I'm in Ft Lauderdale for 2 years in Oct..thnx!
Serena S I had to look it up as to why, but Coca-Cola sponsors it (?!) and it was simply a re-branding decision based on the management company - not sure the reasoning behind the name change... but the entire complex is called ICON Park now. Irma did some serious damage to my neighborhood... definitely wasn’t a fun time to live in Orlando... hope you’re liking Ft Lauderdale 😊
I went to Disneyworld in May thinking it wouldn’t be too hot. WRONG! It was already unbearably hot. And I’m from the Caribbean, but Orlando is a whole other heat beast!!!
Florida native and Orlando local here, your first point about being tan was pretty funny but backwards. Floridians pick out tourists because they're sunburnt, not pale. Most people who live here go outside occasionally but its so damn hot we lock ourselves inside 9 months out of the year, so we don't tan much at all. The housing and cost of living is so true though, I lived in a 2/1 in Winter Park three years ago that was $950 a month, today that same unit goes for $1,250+ and that's considered a good deal.
