This is the longest video I've ever watched. I'm not a painter or have any plans on trying, I'm a musician and that takes up my time, but I could not stop watching this. I was absolutely transfixed on this painting. Gorgeous scene and I wish I was around that fire with my guitar and friends having a good time!!!!! Brilliant.

I love how dynamic this crackling fire is. I also really appreciate it. Too many arttube channels try to condense it down to 10 minute blurbs or "5 quick tips." You're taking a complicated subject and letting it be as complicated as it needs to be.

I particularly appreciate you explaining the type of brushes you use, show us those brushes, encouraging us newbies not to give up when a picture doesn't appear as great as we want (at first), and the importance of layering and drying. A lot of artists on RUclips don't give a full picture of the process and the "why." Great job on your tutorial!

Haha, it really does seem like those "ugly phases" are unavoidable but we work through them and they teach us a lot. Thank you for taking the time to leave such a nice comment, Tina!

I keep coming here. I can't count how many times I've watched this but here I am watching again. I paint with watercolor not acrylics but every time I see this I keep thinking of buying some acrylics. LOL! This is the most detailed video and the most amazing painting ever. I'll be back!

As you were painting the black I noticed the picture of a dog and then a perfect angel with curly hair. Nice instructional video thanks for sharing. Really enjoy this just learned that it doesn't just have to be trees and mountains and grass for a landscape picture. You are Amazing. Thanks for sharing.

Such a "Crackling" painting. You have inspired me on multiple occasions. I wish I could paint as good as you do ... but I try.

Thanks, Ahana! I know it's something that's said a lot but with time and practice you'll be able to achieve the paintings you have in your head. My first couple of pieces weren't pretty at all but over time I picked up a technique here and there. Eventually it all adds up :)

He was so interesting and correct in the background's importance! I couldn't believe I watched the entire thing- and I'm not an artist. It made me want to and believe I could try.

Wow! Beautiful! I really enjoyed seeing the fire evolve by applying various techniques. I was amazed that you only used 5 colors and made such beautiful blends to give so much depth and form. Thank you for taking the time to share and teach acrylic painting skills; especially painting a crackling fire!
