Hey guys! Since a few of you have been wondering, I wanted to let you know that Shylma is still very much alive and kicking. I've been withdrawn from social media for a while now, but that's just because I tend to go into full recluse mode when working on new stuff. In other words, no news is usually good news. As you probably know by now, we take our time with albums until we feel they are truly radiating the atmosphere we had in mind, so future instalments will be no different. With that said, I'm very eager to keep going with the project! Thank you all once again for making it worth our while. As for our Bandcamp shop: I had to close down the physical side for the time being, due to local/international corona measures making shipping too uncertain (or in the case of some countries, impossible). I'm just a guy selling CDs and T-shirts from my home, so I don't really have the means to be able to ship guaranteed tracked packages for low prices like big companies do. Thanks guys! We've been eager to share this news with you all for a while now, so I'm glad the cat's out of the bag. We're putting as much time as we can now into finishing that second album (and finally releasing the Emergence vinyl, which we've been wanting to do for nearly 3 years now!), so hopefully we'll have some good news in the not too distant future. No worries though - we're taking our time to craft everything exactly the way we want it to be and I'm pleased to say that Napalm fully supports that mentality.
For now we're purposely avoiding to answer that, to not build up hopes and then let then down again if there are delays. So for now I have to be boring and say 'somewhere later this year'. Once things are closer to finished and we have a realistic idea I'll post about it here and on our other sites though :)

My big concern these days is that it actually takes me 7 years to get back to people sometimes! But yes, it's very much from the heart. The responses we've been receiving to this project put a stark contrast on how hopeless the situation in which this debut was created seemed. It has truly transformed my life for the better, and I'm sure that my band mate would agree. No words can express my gratitude for that to the people here or anywhere else.

Whats the problem? I'm curious as to why they wont let me see the full album (not just for this album either) but still allow the individual songs.. It's quite annoying
I agree, it's frustrating as hell. Basically what's happening is this: if a certain amount of copyrighted songs are detected in a video, it is automatically blocked by YT in some countries, and the digital distributor who protects those copyrights cannot manually unblock it (don't you just love automated systems?). For some reason, with this video it seems to only be happening in the US (at least as far as I'm aware), which is why we didn't notice it until it was already out. We're currently looking if there is a way to remove some of the copyright claims on this specific video, so it becomes unblocked. I really hope it is resolved asap, but there is sadly nothing I can do but wait right now.

I'll forever associate and be greatful to this album for helping/uplifting me from my depression. First track helped process and release emotions...like a journey, in just 8 minutes...second track gave me strength to move on. Thank you!
It gives me great relief to hear that, thank you. Those first two songs were written as a form of self therapy for me as well. I wrote them in a time where I got so ill that I had to spontaneously give up on everything I had been working towards at that point, so it was more or less an act of desperation. I'm glad to say that those dark times didn't last forever. My band mate Skirge translated that shift well into words on A New Dawn. This is your guys DEBUT? Holy shit. This sounds like years of honing in a sound that a veteran band might have to produce. This album is fucking great. I haven't been this thoroughly awestruck by an album since I first experienced The Mantle by Agalloch. Truly incredible and I'll definitely be keeping up with every subsequent album that you guys put out.
Crushing, brutal, and catchy melodies seasoned with melancholy. Vocals and lyrics that illicit tangibly fierce sorrow. Fucking love everything about this. You guys have so much talent. I can't wait to see you guys get more popular!

Always looking forward for that intro of I Am The Abyss, always getting the goosebumps from A New Dawn.. Bought this off of Bandcamp little over three years ago - still one of the most requested records in the daily carpool among my non-metalhead friends (we've taken to calling it Shylly). Further, what initially drew me to this record, and I'm pretty sure I also said this in the message I sent with my purchase (which you guys were awesome enough to respond to!) is that this is exactly the kind of stuff I did/would write. The tempo changes, the variations on similar themes, THE DRUMMING (represented well by the first minute of 'Emergence' ) are so damn satisfying! Shylmagoghnar speaks to me on a primal level - love you dudes!

I am so happy I was able to get a physical copy of this masterpiece it has been my favorite metal album since I first got into metal before I even knew what black metal was! Whenever I feel down or just want to listen to something that embodies heavy metal for me this album is my absolute favorite and cheers me up!
There are a LOT of socalled blackened death bands out there that - in my humble opinion - make really boring generic tracks, and the boredom is called atmospheric. This stuff seems to come out on top though. This album has a really good vibe to it, and the compositions take off on their own with no need for gimmicks - only musicians with a passion can do that. I love the instrumental intro - just brilliant.

I'm the guy who handles the instruments and production for us in general, which I absolutely love, but I've noticed that it is hard to keep all of it on the same level. I'm a pretty systematic guy so I don't worry about it too much for the future, but I think that on this debut it's pretty clear which facets the two of us had most experience in. So yes, synths are definitely on the list of things that I want to get more creative control over!

I was extremely bummed today and just clicked on this for some reason. I typically avoid Metal bands with millions of views because I love unique sounding bands and I am not a fan of most mainstream acts. However, this album is amazing and actually has earned all those views by incorporating so many unique styles within it. The first song was so calming and the second song had an old school In Flames meets Amon Amarth vibe. I'm only like fifteen minutes in and I'm hooked!
A band with 11k subs on RUclips is nowhere near _"Mainstream"_ By comparison Eminem's has 36m Subs, Katy Perry, and Taylor Swift both have 32m THAT is Mainstream.

Thanks guys! We've been eager to share this news with you all for a while now, so I'm glad the cat's out of the bag. We're putting as much time as we can now into finishing that second album (and finally releasing the Emergence vinyl, which we've been wanting to do for nearly 3 years now!), so hopefully we'll have some good news in the not too distant future.
No worries though - we're taking our time to craft everything exactly the way we want it to be and I'm pleased to say that Napalm fully supports that mentality.

For now we're purposely avoiding to answer that, to not build up hopes and then let then down again if there are delays. So for now I have to be boring and say 'somewhere later this year'. Once things are closer to finished and we have a realistic idea I'll post about it here and on our other sites though :)

My big concern these days is that it actually takes me 7 years to get back to people sometimes! But yes, it's very much from the heart. The responses we've been receiving to this project put a stark contrast on how hopeless the situation in which this debut was created seemed. It has truly transformed my life for the better, and I'm sure that my band mate would agree. No words can express my gratitude for that to the people here or anywhere else.

Whats the problem? I'm curious as to why they wont let me see the full album (not just for this album either) but still allow the individual songs.. It's quite annoying
I agree, it's frustrating as hell. Basically what's happening is this: if a certain amount of copyrighted songs are detected in a video, it is automatically blocked by YT in some countries, and the digital distributor who protects those copyrights cannot manually unblock it (don't you just love automated systems?). For some reason, with this video it seems to only be happening in the US (at least as far as I'm aware), which is why we didn't notice it until it was already out.
We're currently looking if there is a way to remove some of the copyright claims on this specific video, so it becomes unblocked. I really hope it is resolved asap, but there is sadly nothing I can do but wait right now.

I'll forever associate and be greatful to this album for helping/uplifting me from my depression. First track helped process and release emotions...like a journey, in just 8 minutes...second track gave me strength to move on. Thank you!
It gives me great relief to hear that, thank you. Those first two songs were written as a form of self therapy for me as well. I wrote them in a time where I got so ill that I had to spontaneously give up on everything I had been working towards at that point, so it was more or less an act of desperation. I'm glad to say that those dark times didn't last forever. My band mate Skirge translated that shift well into words on A New Dawn. I'm glad we're not the only ones who benefited from that rocky journey. All the best to you and take good care of yourself!

This is your guys DEBUT? Holy shit. This sounds like years of honing in a sound that a veteran band might have to produce. This album is fucking great. I haven't been this thoroughly awestruck by an album since I first experienced The Mantle by Agalloch. Truly incredible and I'll definitely be keeping up with every subsequent album that you guys put out.
Crushing, brutal, and catchy melodies seasoned with melancholy. Vocals and lyrics that illicit tangibly fierce sorrow. Fucking love everything about this. You guys have so much talent. I can't wait to see you guys get more popular!

Just came across this album... now I've been a metalhead for many years but this right here is pure fucking gold, I just can't stop listening to it... everything about it is amazing, the structure, the lyrics, the instruments... pure gold.
Wow, this is amazing. The fact that this was produced independently makes it even more impressive. It has amazing riffs and melodies and the vocals are spot on. I really hope we can hear more from you in the future.

Always looking forward for that intro of I Am The Abyss, always getting the goosebumps from A New Dawn.. Bought this off of Bandcamp little over three years ago - still one of the most requested records in the daily carpool among my non-metalhead friends (we've taken to calling it Shylly). Further, what initially drew me to this record, and I'm pretty sure I also said this in the message I sent with my purchase (which you guys were awesome enough to respond to!) is that this is exactly the kind of stuff I did/would write. The tempo changes, the variations on similar themes, THE DRUMMING (represented well by the first minute of 'Emergence' ) are so damn satisfying! Shylmagoghnar speaks to me on a primal level - love you dudes!

This album is the only music I have bought for myself in the past 5+ years, incredible that every track is as good as the last, I need to check out their newer stuff when I get the chance.
Thinking about that I stumbled across this when it was at 200 views. Now with 2,600,000 it's unbelievable but I'm so happy you guys get the exposure you deserve. Eternal masterpiece.

I am so happy I was able to get a physical copy of this masterpiece it has been my favorite metal album since I first got into metal before I even knew what black metal was! Whenever I feel down or just want to listen to something that embodies heavy metal for me this album is my absolute favorite and cheers me up!
There are a LOT of socalled blackened death bands out there that - in my humble opinion - make really boring generic tracks, and the boredom is called atmospheric. This stuff seems to come out on top though. This album has a really good vibe to it, and the compositions take off on their own with no need for gimmicks - only musicians with a passion can do that. I love the instrumental intro - just brilliant.

Oh ok, now I'm wondering why this brilliant album hasn't got its just desserts! It deserves much MUCH more exposure. This is a prime example of the gems you come across while searching for great music...there's so much of it, a HUGE amount, out there and you unfortunately miss ones, BUT its really cool when you do come across a discovery like this, even this long after release!! I'm just pleased it eventually came my way.

This is very smooth Metal, powerful but something I can easily listen to with headphones on without melting my brain. This is some of the most perfect sound I've heard in a long time.

definitely wasn't disappointing. I will say though that your synth could use a little work, my only big gripe. Just sounded a bit generic is all. Regardless, you've got a new fan!

And feedback noted - I very much recognize what you are saying. I'm the guy who handles the instruments and production for us in general, which I absolutely love, but I've noticed that it is hard to keep all of it on the same level.
I'm a pretty systematic guy so I don't worry about it too much for the future, but I think that on this debut it's pretty clear which facets the two of us had most experience in.
So yes, synths are definitely on the list of things that I want to get more creative control over!
Production quality overall is pretty good, so you definitely know what your doing! Keep it up bro, looking forward to your next album!

My sympathies; sometimes life just comes out of nowhere to punch you in the face like that. Allow yourself the time to honor your aunt's memory and hopefully the pain will at some point make way for pride of what she stood for. Strength to you!

I was extremely bummed today and just clicked on this for some reason. I typically avoid Metal bands with millions of views because I love unique sounding bands and I am not a fan of most mainstream acts. However, this album is amazing and actually has earned all those views by incorporating so many unique styles within it. The first song was so calming and the second song had an old school In Flames meets Amon Amarth vibe. I'm only like fifteen minutes in and I'm hooked!
I want to feel special so I don't like what people like. Appreciate good metal for what it is and not for how many people listen to it.
