    Could see Silayev at 4 - CBJ, honestly.
    Eiserman is interesting but they are already dealing w Laine’s issues; they might go for a “safer” pick.
    Solidifying their top D-core for the future as:
    Silayev-Jiricek
    Mateychuk-Svozil

  • @johnspearing147
    @johnspearing147 Месяц назад +1

    Silayev is a 6'7" monster that will probably gonna go 4th overall... no chance in hell he slides that far... and if Calgary wants Tig, they are praying he's still on the board at 9, they aren't trading back and still hoping to get him...
    Love Lindstrom to my Habs though and I fully agree with the first 3 picks ;)

    Always love to hear your picks John. I don't see a bad pick for my Ducks at 3. If the Hawks don't take Demidov, I think that would be great, but assuming they do, I would take either Levshunov, Lindstrom, or Parekh. I really like Parekh's game, and he has played with Pavel Mintyukov with Saginaw, so there could be chemistry between them in the future.

      @CrimsonicStorm Месяц назад

      Hes defensively lost. As a gm though, if a kid could score me 50/60 a year I wouldnt really try to make him a "complete" player teams too often try to change what makes a kid special in the first place in my opinion. Just deploy him in ways to succeed.
      Also, I doubt he was ever ranked 1, I saw him as high as 2, Celebrini has always been the consensus first overall in this draft.

    • @johnspearing147
      @johnspearing147 Месяц назад

      he is loaded with red flags both on and off the ice... the only thing he can do is shoot the puck. He doesn't backcheck, he misses assignments, he can't pass, he has character issues, he's not even a great skater.... he has an elite shot but there is nothing else good to say about him... he won't go top 10 in this class.

  • @taylors587
    @taylors587 Месяц назад +2

    This is the first year I haven't paid attention to the draft class, but can't argue that Calgary is going to try to get TIj Iginla at almost any cost. Just interesting to think what Treliving and co is looking for at 20 whatever.

    • @CrimsonicStorm
      @CrimsonicStorm Месяц назад +3

      I think the Leafs take a D for sure as they havent taken one in the first round since 2018 also since this draft is seen as having a lot of good D in it. We also know how much Tre loves his D men.
      What I expect them to do is draft Charlie Elick, EJ Emery, or Henry Mews as their D options. If they wish to take a center because you can never have too many of those then Dean Letoruneau could be very interesting as hes 6'7 or 6'8 but can skate like the wind, hes very similar to Tage Thompson which could be a *very* interesting pick and has the potential to be a steal if he develops into Thompson.
      My dream draft though for the Leafs would be a trade up to the 9-13 range and pick Carter Yakemchuk he would be an unreal pick for the Leafs, 6'3 right handed, scored 33 goals from the blueline in the WHL and had 120 PIMS, he has all the meanness and bite/snot Leaf fans love but is also highly skilled, he would be my dream choice, I just dont think that its likely though.

Olli Jokinen was his coach in Jukurit and his coaching methot was to develop players. Helenius WJ wasnt great, but he will play in World Championship tournament what start at friday. @CrimsonicStorm Месяц назад +6

      @@hockeyislife7686 Youre actually not right, its actually a pretty defense stacked draft especially considering recent years. Looking at mock drafts and projections there could be between 10-15 or so D taken in the first round which would be the first time since the 2019 draft that 10 D were taken in the first round. In 2018, 14 D were taken in the first round. The 2024 draft is a stacked D men draft, considering these numbers.
      I agree with you though that the Habs should select a forward, I completely disagree with the last few words of your comment where you said this draft "is a very offensively stacked draft" as its not true.

  • @bajikimran2304
    @bajikimran2304 Месяц назад

    I'm not sure who the Jackets will take, and yes, Eiserman is a goal scorer. The problem is when Eiserman isn't scoring goals he tends to disappear. We already have a player who does that, his name is Patrik Laine. I think if I had to bet, I'd say the Jackets take Lindstrom. Why? Because Lindstrom is big and strong, hard to separate from the puck and wins the vast majority of his puck battles along the boards. The Jackets could use a guy like that. One of the bigger issues the Jackets had last year was maintaining puck possession. They tended to lose those puck battles along the wall more often than not. As a result, they'd get stuck in their defensive zone for prolonged periods of time. It wasn't long before there would be a defensive breakdown and the puck would end up in the back of the net. Adding a player like Lindstrom and increasing puck possession time would help the Jackets a lot.

    • @HotTakeHockey
      @HotTakeHockey  Месяц назад

      I like the Lindstrom pick too. Agreed. Wonder if they did that, would they consider moving Sillinger in a deal?

    • @bajikimran2304
      @bajikimran2304 Месяц назад +1

      @@HotTakeHockey I doubt they would move Sillinger. A more probable candidate to be moved would be Kent Johnson. Johnson is a small playmaker type and we already have a couple of those in Johnny Gaudreau and Gavin Brindley. Johnson needs to add some size. I think he only weighs about 165. They wanted to put him on a weight lifting program in the off season, but he hurt his shoulder in February and that set that program back. I talked to him about 3 weeks ago before he left Columbus and he said his shoulder was healing well. He wasn't wearing a sling and seemed to have near normal use of his arm. What intrigues me is where Adam Jiricek will go. As I'm sure you know, he hurt his knee in the World Juniors back in December which ended his season. As a result his stock has fallen. Most mock drafts had him going between 9 and 12 before the injury. Now I see the mocks having him picked between 15 to 20. I'd love to work a deal with a team that has playoff aspirations next year that is looking to add, like say the Islanders and see if we could pry that #18 overall pick from them and take Jiricek. I think he'd be a steal if he's taken after #15.

      I’d have a hard time passing on either Silayev or Lindstrom at that spot. The one thing missing in our pool is an elite defender. Jiricek and Mateychuk are puck-movers, and Silayev’s defensive acumen has the potential to be ELITE. Lindstrom could move to Fantilli’s wing, or allow Sillinger to move over, or they could all develop into becoming one of the best 1-2-3C combos in the league.
