Not all fixatives darken, using an atomizer bottle Spectrafix fixative and final fixative do not darken my work and I frame right on the glass. Also if there are too many layers a Faber Castell grey stretchy gummy eraser lifts wonderfully because Pastmat really holds a lot and definitely what is necessary. Using a stencil brush into the trash can get rid of areas to redo and start again. I only use the workable Spectrafix Degas as I move across the paper to protect what I have done but it has to be in the fine mister bottle and it just has a milk protein Cassein in it and works wonderfully on all my pastel paintings. Then I give a quick final fixative and it holds great with no darkening at all.😊

I've used Spectrafix in a fine mist spray bottle and I still felt there was a tonal and colour shift. It wasn't as severe as other brands but I still felt it wasn't what I wanted for my work. If it's used a workable fixative to apply tooth back it's not so much of a problem as we'll be layering over the top but as a final fixative I just personally don't like to use it. Pastelmat is definitely a great paper for allowing for many layers. Wonderful surface to work ok =)
