And rust buckets. These trucks would fall apart in the appalachians. They would rust away in no time. Most of them would rust the frame out between the bed and cab. I remember that i used to love the Delorean so much but found nothing special about this truck. Now it's my favorite vehicle from the movie. One of the best scenes in the trilogy for my opinion is the opening scene of BTTF II, when Marty enter his garage, find the truck inside and reunite with Jennifer - It's so simple and innocent, yet so romantic, hopeful and wonderful. I don't understand how some of the idiots that ruin important movie vehicles even get their hands on them in the first place. Seriously, who's idea was it to paint it orange? Same thing happened with the Bullitt '68 Mustang too, some idiot gutted it and turned it into a drag car only to let it sit and rot until somebody tracked it down.
Because often the vehicles aren't that important when the movie is first made, and the production company can't keep it around. Not to mention many movie cars suffer tons of damage during filming. And so they auction it off or sell it outright, as a vehicle or as scrap.
I’ll always remember being at Lake Theater watching this with my dad. He was the one that noticed the date they were traveling from, October 26, 1985 was the same date we were watching the movie 🍿
No offence, but it sounds like shit! High revving with not much speed to show for it. Exhaust sounds like it is blowing too. Looks amazing though and well done for saving it!
"Hard to find parts for"? Are you freaking nuts? You can buy virtually every single part OEM or aftermarket through numerous supplies both new and used.
Like the video said, mechanical parts are fairly easy to find. Interior trim pieces, not so much. Sure, you could find some beat up parts from a junk yard, but they are restoring a truck to like new condition. Most aftermarket parts for these trucks are poor quality and just don't last like the OEM parts did. Almost all interior parts have been discontinued by Toyota.
Those mid 80s Toyota pickups are timeless.
Kevin MacNutt yep they are! That yr model is a very good looking trk. I even like the early 90s version of it too.

i remember when these trucks came out. i was a truck guy ever since i was 5, i wanted one so bad even before the movie
Patrick94GSR yep! Dukes of Hazard cars for sure!
Everyone wants a Lamborghini or a some Mercedes’ or bmw but I want just a brand spanking new 80s Toyota pickup
I want Biff's '46 Ford as my driver. It sounds a lot meaner than this truck. Flatheads 4 ever!!
CCCP Digital Studio Too bad universal studios wont pay for your gas though. lol
Why would I need it? Gas is cheap. The pleasure of driving a V8 is worth every penny spent on gas.
I told my dad if I ever won a brand new ford truck in a sweepstakes I would sell it in a heartbeat.
I actually traded my Toyota Sienna for my dads ford explorer sport tract. Just to help him out. I sold the ford asap. Did I lose money? Definitely.
Looks amazing though and well done for saving it!
bmused55 hahaha I really dont care how it sounds that truck dont need it man is the beast!
The toyota 22r only does so much. They'll happily rev to 5k but its going to sound like it wants to explode while gaining little speed.
The greatest machine ever designed and built known to man.
For goodness sake, get rid of that hidious sounding exhaust!!!!!
Sounds like you do all the work. Your dad's the one that's lucky, I hope he appreciates you. He should also listen to you
"Hard to find parts for"?
Are you freaking nuts? You can buy virtually every single part OEM or aftermarket through numerous supplies both new and used.
Like the video said, mechanical parts are fairly easy to find. Interior trim pieces, not so much. Sure, you could find some beat up parts from a junk yard, but they are restoring a truck to like new condition. Most aftermarket parts for these trucks are poor quality and just don't last like the OEM parts did. Almost all interior parts have been discontinued by Toyota.
Jake Austin yep but I can still find a lot of engine parts windows, trim, body parts at the stealership.
