      And rust buckets.These trucks would fall apart in the appalachians. They would rust away in no time. Most of them would rust the frame out between the bed and cab. I know they were tough looking trucks which the pansy suburban men thought made them good. The bodies would shake apart after five or six years from the rusting. I had a uncle who would fix them and he did well welding the frames back together. He had a fleet of rotten yotas in the bottom. Engines and trannys would run forever though. But everyone who needed a real truck knew to buy American.

      The 85' is the most sought after because it was the 1st year for fuel injection and the last year that had a solid front axle

    I remember that i used to love the Delorean so much but found nothing special about this truck. Now it's my favorite vehicle from the movie. One of the best scenes in the trilogy for my opinion is the opening scene of BTTF II, when Marty enter his garage, find the truck inside and reunite with Jennifer - It's so simple and innocent, yet so romantic, hopeful and wonderful. Miss these old movies (Same with Jurassic Park 1 and Terminator 2), nowadays the movie industry is all about money, fast cars, blowing stuff and sex. Wish i had that time machine and could go back to the 80's, such an amazing decade. Great video!

    Back to the Future started my lifetime love of skateboarding. I had the Valterra skateboard Marty rode in the movie. It didn't take long to figure out the board was a piece of junk. I eventually replaced it with a Vision Shreder with Independent trucks and Vision Shredder wheels. I rode that board everywhere.

    bought my buddies 86 SR5 turbo 4x4 in 91 after returning from the first Iraq war. ran it to 97 with no problem at all. clutch went out, took it to Toyota dealership in Jax FL. new clutch, but then asked head mechanic about a total engine rebuild and we did it (new turbo also). was amazing. then in 99 it went from dark blue to bright white,line x in bed. new glass, new seat work with foam and Cobalt twill apolstry. my friend had enough lift for 33 12.5 and ran Dunlop and then BFG all terrains. sweet sound system, had sunroof. not sure if sunroof was factory or not. just a very solid, fun little truck to drive 😁. divorce in 2001 forced me to part with it. got my kids though 😁 end of story 😁

    it is a loss that auto makers won't built trucks like this today. Light, simple, durable. I had a 1986 model for a while, no where near as nice...over 250k miles on the clock, bed replaced with wood, rust all over, but all the bits that mattered worked great! A great little truck to drive, on or off road. Took it to work, took it off road, drove through snow, ect.

    I don't understand how some of the idiots that ruin important movie vehicles even get their hands on them in the first place. Seriously, who's idea was it to paint it orange? Same thing happened with the Bullitt '68 Mustang too, some idiot gutted it and turned it into a drag car only to let it sit and rot until somebody tracked it down.

    • @Patrick94GSR
      @Patrick94GSR 7 лет назад +3

      Because often the vehicles aren't that important when the movie is first made, and the production company can't keep it around. Not to mention many movie cars suffer tons of damage during filming. And so they auction it off or sell it outright, as a vehicle or as scrap.

    • @jakeaustin9894
      @jakeaustin9894 7 лет назад +4

      Like the video said, mechanical parts are fairly easy to find. Interior trim pieces, not so much. Sure, you could find some beat up parts from a junk yard, but they are restoring a truck to like new condition. Most aftermarket parts for these trucks are poor quality and just don't last like the OEM parts did. Almost all interior parts have been discontinued by Toyota.
