- Hey Everyone, thanks for viewing the documentary restoration video of the actual SCREEN USED 1985 Toyota Extra- Cab SR5 Pickup from the film "Back To The Future" 2 & 3. This truck is the REAL DEAL and is not a replica! We restored this truck at our facility "Greg's Restorations" in Rutland, Massachusetts back in 2013-2014 for the 30th anniversary of the film that was released back in 1985. BIG THANKS to the owners Bill & Patrick Shea @ 88mphtimemachine.com for giving us the opportunity to restore this truck and make this video. This truck was my childhood dream just like many others and wanted to share with everyone else the actual screen used truck restoration due to so many clone truck videos popping up. It has taken me a few years to finish the video so I hope everyone enjoys! Check us out on the web @ www.gregsrestorations.com and also Instagram & Facebook for other builds.

I still remember the feeling of when that garage door came up and there was this black beauty of a truck. Every boy wanted one!!!
Hey Viewers..My son Patrick and I were very involved in this restoration from start to finish and even I learned and enjoyed from watching this video documentary. Not only was it accurate, which is extremely important to us, it was entertaining! Adam Metterville who shot the video did a fantastic job of choreographing all the different components including stills, videos and little movie clips. This made for an exciting ride and brought back some great memories. This truck has brought smiles to thousands of people over the years. Guess what, not just Back To The Future fans, not just pick up truck fans but also Toyota fans throughout the world. It has also helped us raise donations for The Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson's Research which may someday lead to a cure for this disease. My "ten gallon" hat is off to Greg for another "JOB WELL DONE!"
how much did the restore take bc i am going to the that when im a teen
@@Ethan_Lackrx_Dahl It all depends on the condition of the truck and how far you want to take it. Best bet is to set a budget that you can afford and try to stick to it.
Awesome job! I own a 1985 Toyota like this one and would love to transform it into a BTF, would you be able to connect me with the restoration shop? Thanks
That truck is this girl’s dream!! I watched Back to the Future for the first time in 2004 at age 22. I’ve wanted it ever since. I had a ‘94 SR5 and one day the ‘85 shall be mine!
When the time comes, let us know! We build replica trucks. We will be posting 2 new videos soon
The only vehicle I own is my 1985 Xtracab that I bought in 1986. Daily driver with 260,000 on the clock.
I still have mine too!
Bought mine new in '86 from Toyota of Puyallup ($9,999).
I've seen these trucks go almost a million miles... 🙂👍👍
How did you manage to only drive 260k in like 30 years?
I just bought an 85 extra cab and always wanted one. Planning on making it my daily. Cheers
@@Andrew-on5do36 years .. 😂
@@Anth230 Thanks for doing the math. Notice how I said like 30 years.
The kid who restored this truck is on his way to becoming a legend.
“Check out that 4x4!”
Also those 22R engines are indestructible. I had and carbureted 1985.
One of the greatest machines ever designed and built and known to humanity
It truly is
Thanks for restoring a piece of my childhood and keeping it alive. It was a joy to watch this restoration step by step from beginning to the end back in 2013. Keep them memories alive by making new memories.
On of these days I gotta drive up in my 1986 Toyota 4x4 Pickup and see the Truck "Marty" Drove That's the Real Eye Candy of Back to the Future
This guy has lived my dream driving this truck. I'm jealous. lol
When I seen this thing on screen when I was a child I fell in love
This truck is so special. I have to have one.
This video could not be more therapeutic for someone who drives old Toyotas, loves the back of the future series, and used to live in Denver but didn't care about football. But hates orange and blue together.
Such a beautiful truck even in 2021! 🥺
I just watched this again and enjoyed it even more this time! You did knock it out of the park! I shall now share it with everybody who comes to our farm to take the BTTF tour!
Beautifully done. And thank you for bringing my memory back on the lane. I feel like I am also in the truck right now. 😄🌻👍
Great restoration. Thank you for preserving this truck. That brought me back to the 80's and thats why I drive my Toyota pickup now. Its my 4th one!
This is awesome! Excellent quality work done on a piece of film history.
I'm glad that they made Jennifer a Swatch girl in the movies. I love a lady who has fashion sense on a budget.
Super gemacht 👍 mein Traum!!! Ich habe ihn auch allerdings als RC 1:10😂
Absolutely beautiful truck
This gave me chills in a great way. I was 12 years old the first time I watched Back to the Future. What an AWESOME movie. When me and my buddy's first saw the truck on the screen, all of us wanted one. Needless to say being 12, we weren't able to. This is an amazing documentary. Thanks to all involved, it brought back a lot of memories.
Greg has what it takes, attention to detail, dedication and a great attitude and love for his work. wonderful job,...love the video, thanx for sharing.
Thanks!
I’m watching this in October 21 2023!
Happy bttf day!
I've owned Black Toyota pickups all my life because of these movies
I love this truck! I'll take this over any newer Tacoma.
Me too!
What a awesome opportunity! That’s on my list of must own trucks when I get rich!
Absolutely awesome!!
I have been looking for one for years.
They are available
@@gregsrestorations7019 do you know any for sale right now?
Awesome job!! This made me smile. I was 13 when I watched that movie in 85 at the theater. Fell in love with the 4x4 Toy. Own a 2020 4x4 Taco today.
Great job Greg & Crew...
Absolutely awesome. Love the story, the truck and the excellent work. If I had the money I’d be dropping off one of my Toyota’s there
I remember when I watched that movie and I wished my parents had one for me in the morning as a gift 🤔🐶
Crazy how I recently watched the series again this previous week, then this shows up...
Look at that 4x4!!! Haha. For real, what an absolutely gorgeous truck.
Beautiful.
Hey @everyone, A lot of people have been asking about the reproduction bumpers. They are finally available on our website. gregs-restorations.myshopify.com/collections/parts-decals
what a great story !!!
My Lord, that is one sexy truck. Damn you physics for spoiling the boxy look.
Worth every penny
Excelente Toyota muy buen trabajo ‘
I hate restoration videos, but yours are outstanding!!!! great work!
Thanks! We try
@@gregsrestorations7019 You got the magic touch man, congrats, it takes a special someone to pull off these kinds of jobs!!
It’s crazy how much influence movies have on culture. 😮
Wonderful people aways do Wonderful job..good luck 😀 👍 ❤
Thanks for viewing !
Is awensome !!!
Great video, thanks for sharing.
GW Nugget.

Wat een ontzettend gave auto....👌
🤘😎🤘
i watch movies for the cars and trucks mostly i love that truck
awesome video man! Really good job on everything. Definitely still gonna be getting those covers from you for my KCs
Man what a great story. I actually have the sister to the first truck but in white. Bought from the original owner. It had the sr5 bucket seats but they are long gone. I recently picked up the same style seats out of an 84 sr5. They have all the adjustments on the driver seats which what the original seats had. They are the sport buckets no sr5 printing though. I still have the original head rest with sr5 printing on them. Where are you guys finding the rubber weather strip that the glass channel runs in?
My father bought a brand new 1985 Toyota pickup 1-ton I drove it around and it was a very nice driving pickup
It's crazy that Toyota didn't even respond to Bill's letter! But it looks like Greg's was the right company to do it, anyway.
I would give my left nut to own this Toyota. I remember wanting this Ute but I was to young in 85,
But in 89 my father bought me a extra cab 4x4 which I still have, I also have a 03 duel cab turbo diesel and a 78 FJ40
I’m now looking for a 80 series turbo diesel .
“I dream Toyota”
Too bad it's not a turbo diesel ;) Great video guys! you re-inspired me. Have a duel-cab myself. It's my only child so far.
Thanks! Good luck with your build
Good job, beautiful truck.
It's the greatest 4x4!
@gregsrestorations7019 I own an 86 fourrunner dual case re 22 on 5 sp , on 37s . Love it .
@@Lawrence-re6ri that's awesome 👌 I wanna get the wife one someday. Maybe a solid axle 85
@gregsrestorations7019 mine was converted to a solid axle works great . There is more to do to it, though. The rear end is welded, I will put a posi in it, but I still have not made up my mind on what kind of lockers I will use . Brakes are spongy, I think steel braded lines might help. All part of the fun .
I got a free brand new 1985 Tacoma. I got in my time machine and went back to 85 and stole it. I also got the sports almanac. 😂
I did a bttf 4runner about 12 years ago. I sold it for about 5000 back in 2012. Wish I still had it.
Check out that 4x4!
The black bandit.
Hi...
Beautiful truck.
Question please: where I can find those side mirrors. thanks
Cuál es la marca y medida de los rines, excelente video, saludos
Check out that 4x4. That is hot.
nice
Thank you
I really enjoyed watching this video. Beautiful restoration, except the front bumper is tilted up in the front. It’s not level with the ground. You can see it plain as day.
I just realized the rusty Smitybuilt bumpers on my 86 Custom Cab would look right at home on my 84 extra cab 4x4.I didn't know that's what the BTTF truck had!
Yep i want one
you should do something with a 4 runner i think they're called a surf in the U.S they have the removable top 1984--1985
I always thought that they used a turbo model.
Nice job guys!! where did you get the Smittybilt tubular bumpers?
I need them for my 1985 4runner SR5 5 speed.
We reproduce them but our supplier hasn't been able to make the next order yet...
@@gregsrestorations7019 Thanks, I sent you guys an email in reference to this, plese let me know via email on an order if and when it comes. Thanks again !
A much better pick up then they build nowadays
You should make a Jurassic park tour guide car
We built a jurassic park jeep for the owners of this truck. They ended up buying a exact replica of the explorer done they used to promote the last movie.
Ive got a 85 sr5 standard cab 22re performance did my stage 2
I had an 85 longbed with the 22R engine. The only thing i didn't like was almost anyone with a Toyota key could steel it, and that's what happened early one morning. Oh I got it back with a few things missing. I wish I could of caught the person who did it! They were going to keep it because the VIN# were gone. Take care of yours Mark!
@@davidregan9872 my truck was stolen in 1995 it was gone for one year it was found in texas mexico border Brownsville long but i got it back im always in fear of happening again its never out of my site
@@markramirez4830 I would hook up a safety switch hidden somewhere. I didn't know about the key thing until a guy told me. I use to show people that I might be able to open their truck with my key, and most times it would. Some knew about it, but the ones that didn't were freaked out!
Absolutely beautiful, could someone tell me the brand and model of the wheels please?
Us wheel corporation.
Fun fact: this is also tyco's turbo bandit
Fasten Seat Belt ??
Do you guys ever do showings off it?

The Lux might only have made a cameo in Back to The Future but it stole the show from the DeLorean.

Could you do a Toyota hilux 1986?
Yes
Thank goodness the truck never made it to rust country, most trucks here in california never see snow unless skiing time with no rust...unless they spend a lot of time on the coast where the ocean mist rusts the body terribly
You can't trust Broncos fans smh
Marty’s original truck in movie looks to be right hand drive? Not sure so maybe your truck isn’t as authentic as it seams?
Left hand drive - us spec. All you have to do is Google a picture from the movie. Its authentic
Transport drugs in a stolen truck....and then they wonder why they got caught
this is not the truck from bttf... I grew up in la, my best friends dad owned the Grip company that did the sets for these movies. the only trucks used on screen were ALL signed by Michael J Fox on the white sun screen liners... your truck had no signature which means it was not used on set. sorry.
The sun visor is signed and in a box separately in front of the truck when on display at the customer's museum garage. Check out the owners website www.88mphtimemachine.com they also own the part 3 DeLorean that is currently at the Hollywood museum. There is a Facebook page for the truck as well, Marty Mcflys truck restoration. There is plenty of information out there that this is the truck
You took a half hour to tell a 10 minute story.
That's definitely a 38 year old Toyota Ute
US market called them pickups
@Greg's Restorations where i oriented in Australia 🇦🇺 here we call them Ute's way way before Australia had American made trucks being exported from America to Australia now in Australia 🇦🇺 we now have gotten Dodge Ram trucks and Ford trucks the Ute's we use for working like tradies and other shorts as well in Australia 🇦🇺 here my dad was going to get one of those because that Toyota was made in the exact same year as i was born in 1985 and my dad was still going to keep his own FJ Toyota land cruiser but he decided to keep the Toyota FJ land cruiser instead
