    Saskatoon is one of my favorites cities, an absolute gem - and while it is definitely on the rise it is still underrated! It should be an absolute must-visit for people interested in exploring Canada.

      In particular I think the size of Saskatoon is very pleasant and feels more laid back than the rapidly urbanizing cities of Alberta - plus a phenomenal food scene, well maintained river valley and multiple walkable vibrant neighborhoods@@saskatchewanrealtor

      I think the river valley has been particularly well maintained, fantastic food scene given the size of Saskatoon - I also find it to be a very pleasantly sized city, Edmonton and Calgary have been growing rapidly!@@saskatchewanrealtor

    We've maybe had up to 2 weeks in a row of -40 before, and that doesn't even happen every year.
    Super cold isn't even that bad compared to the horrible freeze thaw we experience. Swings from -30 to 0 or even positive temps in 18hrs that turn all the snow to ice are by far the worst part of our climate year round.

    Great video. A few things worth mentioning. 1) the summers here are awesome, and although short, make up for the cold winters, and 2) stay away from the west end as it is crime ridden. When I came to Saskatoon in 2013, my real estate agent would NOT show me houses in the west end as I had my mother that I was caring for at the time, and she told me about the crime in that area. SUre enough, my work colleague who lives in an apartment there had a neighbor that was shot by a gang member for no apparent reason the first week at my new work location. Stay away from the west end, or any street with an alphabet, as my real estate agent at that time stated. Overall the people in Saskatoon are awesome, and I will be retiring here as I love the area!

      @saskatchewanrealtor  5 месяцев назад +3

      Excellent well happy to help however I can. You are correct there is certainly a west side east side conversation, although there are good areas on the west side. Likewise with alphabets not so accurate to paint the entire alphabets with same brush. Generally pleasant hill neighbourhood has the highest crime rates. Any major city will have it’s inner city core with challenges. Saskatoon summers are short and windy haha, the riverbank is beautiful in the summer and there are some good lakes for weekend activities within reasonable commute too

      @@saskatchewanrealtorI used to live in London. Not anymore. No matter where I lived, there was a murder within a few months, sometimes days or weeks. Hooded figures roaming every street throughout the day, threatening to kill you or shoot you. A guy I know was working in a shop when a guy entered with a machete and gun. There’s a ridiculous homeless problem too, the houses are too expensive for even a wealthy family like mine to reside in, and the schools are much worse than you would think. Saskatoon is so much safer and a way better city overall. Living here with my wife and 5 kids. Couldn’t ask for a better place to stay.

      @@saskatchewanrealtor it’s horrible. If you’re going to London, change your plans. Too overcrowded, prices are monumental, can’t go out safely after 6pm, high risk of being stabbed, pushed onto the train tracks or flanked by gangs, the streets are dirty, there’s homeless people everywhere and houses get broken into every few weeks in the safest neighborhoods, sometimes within days. I’m glad I moved out. I can recall at least 10 near death experiences.

    Living in Saskatoon pros - pretty safe, friendly, positive, clean, & has good City services. Great place to get to know Indigenous and Metis folks, who are finally starting to get some respect and opportunities for self-governance. The City is a hub for nerds, artists, and international immigrants - great for food, culture, and festivities. Saskatoon is growing by 10,000 a year which is hard and job opportunities have competition, but there is a lot of investment. 0.5% housing vacancy is hard. Crime is usually minor and poverty-centric - you can't be careless but don't need to be scared.

    I live in Saskatoon, near 8th street. One thing you should have mentioned is that Saskatoon is repeatedly one of the most dangerous cities in Canada. Where I live, I constantly see and hear about the gang activity including knife attacks. Don't even try to own a bicycle. That's the first thing the gangs go after. Anyway. I will still live in Saskatoon and if I could afford a house in a residential area I wouldn't be so concerned, as is true for most Saskatoon residents.
