Hi Chris! My husband and I have started exploring options outside of Vancouver due to the high cost of living. Currently, Saskatoon is our top choice for purchasing a home. I greatly appreciate the valuable content you provide. If I may, I have a question. Based on my early research, I saw some information that some places in Saskatoon has poor drainage. Are there any specific areas we should avoid, or perhaps areas with higher elevation? Thank you!
Hey thanks for reaching out, and happy to help! Send me an e-mail at 12molenaar@gmail.com Easy short answer is less about neighbourhood and more about specific properties and how they’re maintained situationally regards to grading etc
Good analysis. So how long (years) does it take to completely pay off the mortgage? The Texas dude was happy with his weather and tax comparison but completely forgot to mention border crises, insecurity, etc in his state.
Haha fair enough well I am definitely not an expert on texas that’s for sure. Depends on whether or not you do lump sum payments for mortgage you can pay it off quickly if you choose to add more money down on it
Your video is very informative. You really put your time into it. I think it would also be helpful if you can also provide some cons on moving to Saskatoon. :-) I've been staying here in Vancouver for 2 years as temporary resident. I can say there are lots of opportunities in here in terms of jobs. BUT.. If I can improve my standard of living in Saskatoon and easily obtain a PR in there, I'm all in. I am not sure though if I have a market in there, I am currently working as a building operations manager in one of the Property Management companies here in Vancity.
Hey well happy to help, and thanks I will certainly keep that in mind and do a video on that topic. And thanks for saying that! If you want to keep the conversation going send me an e-mail to 12molenaar@gmail.com
Haha I love this comment! Awful in what way though? I was in texas in july this year and must say it was too hot outside too cold inside but definitely could be lesser of two evils as compared to the deep freeze here. Also house prices in texas are still reasonable but property taxes are high. From what I heard in the houston area anyway
@@saskatchewanrealtor property tax to high? What is that compared to Canadian sales tax? Or Canadian income tax? Texas is 6.25 sales tax and no state income tax. The cold is just like the heat, you get used to it. Fall, winter and spring are super easy in Texas. House prices are far to high in Canada. Love the Canadian people don’t love the GOV
Yeah I hear you, we have gst and pst which accounts for 11% for sales tax in saskatchewan but doesn’t apply to real estate unless you’re buying brand new build home or vacant land. And yes true you get used to it. Prices in canada are high but remember they’re in canadian dollars 😉 haha and mostly they are high in toronto and vancouver. Saskatoon is one of if not the most affordable major cities in canada
@@saskatchewanrealtor 2024 I was going to come. But the IELTS were a few decimals short... Your explanation is very valuable for people like me. thank you
Watch out for the rural areas very Qanon and FreeDumb Cult is very common. Crimes high in Rural and in the city’s. Security highest Violent crime in Canada is Saskatoon.
What has been your most surprising observation about the cost of living in Saskatoon compared to other Canadian cities?

And yes government is a challenge everywhere I suppose and we do need better leadership. But so does US currently haha
I was in Houston in April and I loved it there. Canada/Toronto is really bad now. I'm really considering Saskatoon

Housing low cost.
It's better than other Provinces.

City needs a cfl team and not the roghrds.
Yeah I do not disagree with you there

I thought you said love is alive? Have never heard of dumb cult but thanks for the deposit. Do you live in saskatchewan?
We got the lowest minimum
wage…the bus routes are brutal….zero community policing… clearly you must not live here
Is the glass half empty or half full? I can relate to how saskatoon is not optimal in many ways but not for the reasons you’ve suggested
