im from ontario and currently thinking of moving to calgary as my job allows me to work remotely. i lost hope in ontario because the home affordability is a joke. we are seeing really old townhomes selling over 1M and people still think its a sweet deal. glad to see calgary still has affordable options (in the 200k range) and newer properties. definitely a consideration for young people if they can work remotely.

Calgary is one of the last largest, affordable cities in Canada and we are now on the map for all Canadians as an option to live in. With inflation high as a kite, prices here will only continue upwards. If you're thinking about making a move, now would be a great time to give it some serious thought. Oh, and if that happens, give us a shout 👊

Awesome video guys! Top notch. Man, I miss Calgary so much. The cost of living in Winnipeg is higher than Calgary. Our two vehicles plus home insurance is TRIPLE the cost of what we paid in Okotoks. And real estate prices - pretty much on par or more than Calgary.

This is a great and very detailed summary Calgary. I came from Calgary - born and raised, left when I turned 54 (would have been sooner if I had played my cards right). It is NOT possible to live in Calgary on 20 bucks an hour, its an oil exec city. Homelessness is out of control. I left my 40+ dollars an hour job to live a better life in B.C. I am making 20 an hour and living a better life here then in Calgary at 40 an hour. It is absolutely outragous. Traffic and chaos add to the stresses. Even if with the added taxes in B.C., its still cheaper and happier here then in Calgary. Calgary is pretty, but thats it.

I’m looking to move to Calgary next year and one thing I’m concerned about is the lack of a rent increase cap like Ontario’s 2.5%. I’ve heard some landlords increasing as much as 30% annually. I don’t know if they were perhaps underpriced units to begin with but I’m planning on renting a place about $500 under my budget to prepare. I still worry about making such a big move and getting priced out in a few years if the rent is increased several hundred dollars every year.

Calgary is the greediest city in the country..take for example the Blue & Green bins...they force everyone including those who cannot afford these bins to pay for them regardless whether they use them or not...they were supposed to be paying for themselves when first introduced but now they force eveyone to pay for them. Ive noticed some seniors going without proper clothing or proper heat in their homes because of this unfair burden on their utilities.. Ive seen seniors going without their prescriptions because of this unfair charges forced on them...have you seen a utility bill from Calgary yet? they charge you for water and then water surcharges, and then administrative charges on top of it, then they charge you for cleaning the water you use and then surcharges and administrative charges on top of it, then they charge you for the sewer charges then administrative charges on top of it and you guessed it, they charge you again and again for administrative charges...

Average rent 1,323 a month for a two bedroom apartment? That’s not affordable. I was raised in Calgary. Back in the 80’s and 90’s the average was 5 to 6 hundred dollars a month and that was renting a 3 bedroom apartment and a house. We moved out of Calgary because it was getting too expensive to live.
