Cool video. Dig the birds. I still have my 99 powerstroke that I bought new. It still runs great and looks amazing. Every time I think of buying a new one, I take it for a spin and just say why. 😅 it still does everything I ask it to do... Someday, I will buy a new one, I guess 😅
Stopped at a Ford lot yesterday. The only f150 with 6.5 foot bed they had was an xlt with cloth seats. Perfect. $64k. Give me a break. I wouldn't even pay $50k as it's a downgrade from my current truck. I hope a new manufacturer starts up and puts all these companies out of business. Nobody needs any of this crap. Keyless entry, backup camera, that's about all you need that is actually useful.
Hi, JD. Great theory, but I think the actual reason for this change is far less exciting. I work for Ford and have spoken with an F-series rep about similar changes made to 2024 F-150 earlier this year. F-150 experienced the same change at the top of 2024, replace Limited trim level with a package for Platinum called "Platinum Plus" and a new 803a body code. Basically, all the rep had to say was that Limited trucks are just being phased out. In fact, "Limited" anywhere in the Ford lineup is being phased out. He said, frankly, it was a confusing and vague model indication. Ford has been working for a while to rebrand and push anything wearing the "Platinum" name to the top of the line. For years, Limited was only a mid-level trim on Explorer and Expedition sitting underneath trims like KR and Platinum. Meanwhile, on F-series trucks, Limited was the top of the line. It was confusing and not congruent. You’ll notice that Limited is no longer a trim offered on Explorer and will no longer be a trim on Expedition for 2025. This means the term "Limited" will be completely stripped from Ford vocabulary. Platinum will now be the top on everything from Escape, to Explorer, to Expedition and through the F-series lineup. I don’t think it will have much of an impact on production.
Agree with @Hoss62 that getting my Ordered (10 months) F450 Limited is fortunate prior to the end of trim line. Hopefully in 12-16 yrs, the Limited trim will add a little resale value, unless the trim returns in 6 years. Personally, ordered the Limited to get the options, enjoy them all… Outstanding Truck.
Ford really needs to get it together. The quality is dropping and the prices are rising even as they remove features from lower trim levels. They keep adding electronics and “driver aids” that aren’t needed or wanted by the majority of people who actually work these trucks for a living. I ordered a 23 lariat because I wanted leather seats and automatic climate control, for the 25 year model I would have to order a platinum just to get those same features. Honestly if automatic climate control was available on the xlt trim I could just upgrade the front seats with oem parts to add the ventilated leather seating surfaces and save a lot of money.
I agree with your theory because a lot of people people like the trim of the truck but don't want all the things they get with that trim level but if Ford at plus to trim level you might get more with plus trim without going up to next trim level
Big change that sucks is they dropped the tailgate cameras. They also removed power telescoping steering wheel on Lariats. No idea why they dropped both of these.
That was my biggest grip with the F150 redesign- as nice a truck as it is. They "simplified it" aka took away options and locked them behind higher trims/packages.
Yes, you are right on JD. Ford wants you to buy a pricier Platinum now they have removed the optional nicer wheel instead of those ugly black-painted ones. So you have to buy another more expensive package including nicer wheels and other things. They did the same thing when they began to offer the platinum which was less expensive than a Lariat plus option. I believe they call it ` Marketing`` and flowing the orders on the line to get more trucks built faster but not cheaper for the customers. The 100000$ trucks will be the next norm from now on . Good video JD, glad you got a new toy to creep around the garage. Cheer sir!
They messed up every trim. Can’t get a lariat cause they cut to much cost so have to get a platinum but don’t like the black out on it so got to get a platinum plus but don’t like the stitching design on it and color on the interior so it’s just completely screwed up people can’t get what they want anymore.
I hope they are able to pick up the production of the 450s. As soon as the order banks opened, I placed my order for a regular Platinum 450 in Ruby Red. Hopefully it will come in around the time my RV is ready. One of the trends I noticed though, the main trucks that were delayed, were the higher trim levels in red. I know of yours and three others at the dealerships around me. Other 450s in higher trim levels but different colors came in but not in the quantities of the 250s & 350s.
I feel JD , Ford is cheaping out the Platinum like they did tie King Ranch a couple years ago.Example, Upfitter switches were standard now optional,Pro Power2K now optional,Tailgate Down Camera not available,Tailgate Down Park Aid Sensors not available, Carmello interior which I really liked, not available, and also grill is not like yours just black. They can tell you anything they want but when they take things away and charge you more. Wish I ordered a 2024!
With the limited trim going away, I feel very fortunate to have finally received my new 2024 F450 Limited. Also owned at 2023 F350 Platinum SRW. The 450 is by far the better truck for towing the 18k Vanleigh Beacon. Wonder if having one of the last F450 Limited built would make it a bit more desirable down the road whenever I choose to sell?
I can understand that reasoning for the choices the did with the Platinum trim level but all the de-contenting that Ford did to the Lariat trim is disgusting.
Rebranding the Limited to platinum plus makes 0 sense. Not sure why they couldn’t do all of this, but just keep the Limited trim that has basically everything.
What they actually should have done is give you the option "downgrade" to the 7.3 on the Limited, making it over $10K cheaper. I legit would have considered trading in my 24 Platinum for that, but I don't need or want a diesel. But so rather than make it even a little bit more accessible, they just take it away. Silly imo.
I'm not ready for the Dually for about a year... Should I order now? Would be nice if they could give you a 60day delivery window to plan on other things!
I’m just upset they removed the brushed chrome from the door handles, mirrors and tail gate. I had a 17’ Platinum and loved all the chrome. I found a 21’ King RanchDRW and couldn’t pass it up. I miss the chrome. Now 2025 I want to order a 450 Platinum and now have to spend $6500 just to get the chrome😢😢 A little upset with Ford right now. If it wasn’t for the 450 I would be buying a Denali DRW
It sucks man. That Active X stuff is fine on little crossovers and stuff but I want real leather in my truck. They're pushing genuine leather up into vehicles that are $80K plus and it's irritating.
@@DavidBrown-jt7yiyour best bet now is to just go with an STX or a decked out XLT which will still be MUCH cheaper than a Lariat Ultimate and then do Katzkin leather for a couple grand. They use higher quality stuff than what's going into most of even the top trim trucks and most other vehicles now anyway.
I hear this a lot about the F450s, seems like they don't want to build them, which is insane because they probably have an even higher profit margin that most other Super Dutys for how much they're asking.
Basically their making it too complicated in ordering a truck plus I refuse to pay 70k to 100k for a truck . It’s out of control that’s any truck as soon as it drives off the your screwed plan and simple. I’ve got a 2015 F-350 DRW crew cab lariat with 140 k on it I do my pm’s on it I keep it updated fix what needs to be done and I tow all my big trailers . I would love to get a new one I can afford it but I refuse to. Anyway great video I love watching your content keep up the good work.
It's a scheme that is about $. I used to work in manufacturing, and Ford is super complicated compared to other manufacturers. Toyota for example, super simple, great products and prod numbers very consistent for a production worker to work with. Ford, their production numbers are very volatile. Up down up down, very confusing also with all their models being different, and it effects quality.
If you want to pull 40,000 pounds, for christ's sake buy a class eight tractor and don't try to do it with a light duty truck which is what these things are
I think Ford has to get quality figured out. I ordered a 2023 Limited which got rolled into a 2024. Truck died at 600 miles, lived at the dealership and ultimately Ford bought it back. They gave me a $2500 coupon off a new Superduty on dealer lots that was good for 60 days. Nothing available that I was after. I went and bought a GMC Ultimate. Probably won’t look a Ford again. They’ve got to many issues on the higher trims.
Man you can't even say you can't get a Ford pickup truck up here in Michigan all our lives within 40 to 70 me of where I live have so many trucks they cannot sell they even have a couple 2023 that they can't sell
Demand ??? I live in South Florida... You can find at least 10 Super Duty's on any Ford dealership around here. I'm not sure why #ford is destroying the SuperDuty, but I'm pretty sure it has nothing to do with production. These redesigned SuperDuty's look absolutely horrible! The addition of the bed & bumper steps has ruined the body lines on the SRW trucks. This has to be about #Ford maximizing their profits on these trucks. Less options, more plastic less aluminum/metal.
I don’t understand why Ford, GM and Dodge don’t listen to the market. The prices are insane with trucks like this above $100,000. These trucks are sitting on the lots now not selling. Let’s get back to making trucks that people want and can afford. Also the quality of Ford products are just horrible. I won a 2021 F350 and in the past 1 1/2 years it has never gone over a month without issues and 3 of these issues have been major. I want to trade my 2021 but right now I wouldn’t buy any of the 3 American trucks as the quality is horrible.
Theory is they want to sell trucks and tier out their market. The number of people willing to spend $100,000 or more on a truck is all but gone.
In other words, a major manufacturer cannot manufacture the vehicles that they offer. Genius level stuff they have there
Cool video. Dig the birds.
