@arcengal except it isn't. The samurai were at the forefront of the world wartime gun revolution and were one of the first to develop some gun line tactics. The shogunate during the Meji revolution actually had top of the line warships given to them as gifts from France which was supporting the shogunate as opposed to the American supported Meji government. The whole samurai wouldn't use guns is a silly myth brought upon by Hollywood that needs to die.

They actually got guns a few centuries before this and they loved them. At one point there were apparently more guns in Japan than Europe if memory serves correct.
That is actually true tho. Even during the Boshin War, many samurais instead swapped to their revolvers that they got thru the Brits and used it to storm whatever the Shogunate forces could throw at them and same goes to the Shinshengumi as they're funded by the French. So in reality, both sides using guns and abandoning swords was highly accurate. Swordfights did happen of course like any early 1800s combat as guns was still pretty iffy but both sides using guns most of the time? True.
@@aerthreepwood8021 and that is a misunderstanding that became a meme. Kiryu doesn't kill in cold blood, when he is fighting someone that wants to kill him the mentality is "if he dies, he dies." The exception is Iwami, Kiryu wanted the guy dead regardless.
I never got into the whole blacksmith bit of this game, so when my gun pretty much became pointless I was like, “What? A gun is a fucking gun, am I shooting varmint rounds or something?” Ironically Wild Dancer was my most used fighting stance considering how fluid everything is.
I will say it, Yakuza 6 onwards the series has been getting unfocused on both the story and gameplay fronts. They are still trying to find a new protagonist but can't so they bring Kiryu back into the story. Then they try to change the combat according to the new engine and rebalance damage. It creates a really weird scenario where grinding becomes mandatory, yet not very rewarding because the fights are lopsided one way or the other.
wait are you telling me guns are useless in this game? It takes one well placed bullet to completely disable someone. because uhm, Humans unfortunately are just big pressurized flesh balloons filled with blood. once a hole is introduced, h'oh boy will you lose blood *fast!*
I think they used very low calibers (excluding some gun models), somewhat close to 0.22. And considering the complicated story of Japanese gunpowder manufacturing especially during that period when imported gunpowder was miles better than the domestic one. It could be that those pistols wouldn’t do much damage in the fight itself since it wouldn’t penetrate that deep. I mean, I have no clue and made this on spot but it seems plausible
Yeah you’re right if someone gets shot by just a .22 it actually doesn’t do much at all. You need to step the caliber up to a .45 because it’s twice as big and is an explosive round
Errrr sir this is a cap and ball revolver they're made during the 1850s which fits the time frame as this game is set in 1860s. Cap and ball revolvers that size can kill and WILL kill due to the velocity from the use of black powder, which goes at 600 to 1200 miles per second or 965.606 to 1931.213 kilometers per second, which is a fucking big deal cuz a ball of lead about 2cm flying at you that fast will kill you. 🤓
I love using that infinite durability pistol in Kiwami 2. It's especially fun to have Kiryu shooting down thugs in cold blood inside a convinence store.
HEAT moves are call that because they breach the laws of thermodynamics and convert excess heat back into physical ammo. Every time the trigger is pulled, a new bullet is loaded into the chamber.
Idk why but its helerious to imagine two samurai clashing katanga in hand and the other one just pulls out a flintlock and shoots likes it's a blood Bourne parry or something 😅
through this video we know that Okita(Majima) lost the fight when Ryoma(Kiryu) heard shooting after he left Okita with Thomas Glover. The end when everyone is with Yodo, Okita is not actually there but is a coping mechanism created by ryoma's subconscious
