      @@perrymason4208 No. Stop repeating the myth that it costs more to prosecute criminals and there are not enough resources. It is now proven it costs even more to NOT prosecute criminals because it emboldens more criminals to commit more crimes. Prosecuting criminals sets the example for other people to reconsider committing the crime in the first place.
      If you want shopkeepers and landowners to be responsible, stop banning guns. SF does not get to defund the police, ban the effective means to protect yourself and not respond to 911 calls immediately all at the same time and then are surprised crime goes up.

    So, lets think this through for a minute. A thief who doesn't give a sh*t about anyone or anything else, is going to be deterred by a glass barrier that will not open unless they have a receipt to open it. Yeah, I am sure that will meaningfully cut down on shoplifting.

      And what about the thief who waits and runs out right behind an honest customer. And how tough are those clear panels anyway? Thought the pole thing was sort of silly. Did they think some big dude would be stopped by that pole. I like the Idea but they need to have it about 6 feet high if not more. Just for arguments sake what happens if you should have to evacuate the whole store. And yes better enforcement once arrested might help too.

    One of our local Safeway stores had added some methods..one is you can't leave without going through a checkout... problem is, one Safeway is located close to a high school and every lunch and end of school day the store is mobbed by teens filling their pockets and laughing. I asked about one manager whether they had a certain item and he couldn't tell me because they have trouble keeping an inventory due to the amount of theft. BELIEVE IT!

    could you imagine if a person saw them putting stuff in there pockets and did what my dad would have done. Take off your belt, come up behind them and just start whipping there asses. until they take the items out of there pockets and drop them and then push them out of the store. that would be embarassing to me.

      I'm sure there's an emergency override. Building codes are very strict, and do not allow for entry ways to actually be blocked. All locked doors leading to the outside MUST allow quick opening from the inside, in case if an emergency. That's the law. So these doors I'm sure have some override mechanism, even if the store doesn't talk about it (not wanting to encore theft by telling crooks the door can be overriden).

    Safeway promised to pay 20 yuan per hour, but it turned out to be 15.99 per hour, and after two months, it was changed to 20 yuan, and other arrears were said to be paid, but six months later, it was not paid, and the store manager also said that many people did not pay, I reported to the Labor Bureau, and it was soon paid. But there are a lot of people who do it for a short time and then quit

    I think it would be best if the exit and entry had a metal door/bars that go up to at least 6ft so no one can jump over it or kick through it. Also there needs to be stiff consequences for criminals in order to deter crime.

    So now they can park near the side and rear emergency exits and open those doors. I will not be surprised if they get hit with fire safety code violations because of those gates, you must have a quick egress in case of fire and evacuations.

  • @shaneencalade4988

    Its easier to let the theft go unnoticed because of lack of manpower, $100,000 a year to house and feed prisoner, not enough prisons or jails. It is what it is and you like it or try and find somewhere else to live because it probably wont get better.

    How does this prevent anyone from scanning 1 item and leaving with a cart full by scanning the receipt?

    • @Videogamer-555
      @Videogamer-555 4 месяца назад

      The barcode on the receipt probably is a high data density code like qr code, and encodes data for all purchased items. The scanner probably has multiple checks, including comparing that qr code to rthe database of recent purchases made at checkstands, and likely also integrated security camera AI powered image analysis, to visually verify the contents of the cart automatically. If the security camera sees (via its ai algorithm) too many items in the cart, compared to the receipt just scanned, it won't open the gate.

    Lol, maybe this makes things a little more difficult. However, people can still steal by not correctly accounting for all items or just evade paying altogether by jumping over the security gates or destroying them. The legal system has to enforce accountability, but prosecutors don’t have time for these petty crimes.
