Hey jaylenn! I am moving to KC for work at saint lukes on the plaza and I am going to have to rent for a couple of years most likely. Are you aware of any safe apartment complexes near the plaza? Budget is looking up to 1500/month

Try KMacho's in OVP and there's some good Mexican food off Broadway in KCMO like Pinches Tacos

Yeah, not to mention Wyandotte County. However, I would believe it if Houston has better food!

@LivingInKansasCity-JaylennWong I actually plan to travel to Houston before the end of the yr. There's a Mexican place called Ninfas that I saw online I'd like to try while there. I like KMacho's it can get busy, but it's worth the wait when going. And there's a lady who works the bar that makes great drinks.

Oh and I can't forget KC Tacos in the Market area of downtown. It's small but you can easily miss it near the Farmers Market. I love the street corn there.

What’s your favorite Asian food place?

@LivingInKansasCity-JaylennWong now that's a hard one. The last place I tried was on Wornall Rd and 85th called Joy Wok. It's a buffet style and they have all you can eat crab legs. Not bad for maybe a mid week outing. There's also a place on Wornall and 90th st and a place called Bo Lings on 135rh and Metcalf. You'll spend more money but they aren't bad

I don't understand the debate between the MO or KS side. If you want boring, culture-less suburbs go to kansass. If you want the CITY side with all of the attractions live in Missouri.

I tend to agree with you, but in Kansas you have safely and good schools. For families that’s huge.

I moved to KCMO from Upstate, NY. I cried when I got there. I missed the beauty of Upstate. To me, the cost of living was cheaper than KC. Taxes on everything is what drove me out of KC and back to Houston. I never drove a new car in KC because of the personal property tax. I stopped working in Olathe because I had to pay state taxes there and MO. Taxes on groceries, E-tax, state tax. It was too much for really nothing. I actually came back to Houston. I’m much happier now. It’s not Upstate but it’s far better than KC. Just my opinion.

Thanks for sharing! Surprising to hear that NY's cost of living was less than KC! Was it rent or taxes?
