First of all as someone who never has insurance because I’ve been an independent contractor, I’ve paid for private insurance and it was $450 a month plus deductibles and actually didn’t cover most of what I needed. Second, for the first time in my life I could get Medicaid and it was SO HARD TO GET! I had to prove I was literally homeless, that’s what taxes should pay for. The people!
So, often I will pay cash out of pocket because you get a discount of 110% which is cheaper than paying for private insurance. Call any Dr office and ask their rate with insurance or cash, you’ll see the significant hustle that insurance companies and the medical institution play on us.

I also have Lupus, RA, fibromyalgia, and thyroid issues. If I didn't have a background in nursing I'd have likely never known enough to push for the right tests.t
When it came to my thyroid the dr suspected I had issues for years! But still would just order the routine thyroid tests, the TSH. And it'd come back in the normal range, even though we now know that the lab range values are considered outdated and many health care providers are pushing for the ranges to be different. Anyway. That always came back normal. Every six months for 3 years. Then he ran the TSH and the T4. And said oh, still normal.
And many Dr's, mine included, just stop there. They don't realize that even if those are normal there can still be a problem with converting to T3! And so it's super, super important to have total and Free T3 tested and even reverse T3. And whatever else is in a full thyroid panel.

The headaches are constant every day, with nausea, eye pain ( the pressure swells the optic discs and nerves and you can go blind if not treated) neck and back pain, there's so many symptoms , they found mine through an Mri and then a lumbar puncture confirmed the increased pressure.

I had similar issues and it started with migraines as well as blurriness & tunnel vision in my left eye. I had an annual optometry appointment and it appeared my left optic nerve was obscured and my eye was pushed forward. It turned out to be fluid behind that eye. I was diagnosed with intercranial hypertension which can happen simultaneously with sudden onset weight gain. Along with intercranial hypertension comes excruciating migraines, extreme fatigue and lethargy (its comorbid with chronic fatigue syndrome), and these symptoms correlate with early onset MS, multiple sclerosis. I'm going to have to reschedule with my neuro ophthalmologist just to ensure if it could be early onset MS or something else.
