Hope you enjoyed this inside look of my trip down to Dirt Labs! The shock has been feeling sweet and I will share more in depth thoughts in my Tempo bike check which will be coming soon!
My 1st full suspension bike I blew out my Fox DPS. It was under warranty. The LBS sent it to Fox and Fox wanted to know my weight. At that time, I was 230lbs. They tuned it to my weight and it made a huge difference! My next bike has a Fox Float X. I never could get it feeling right. After 1 year, I sent it to Fox and they put a medium + tune, put a 1.0 spacer in it, and fully serviced it. It doesn't feel like the same shock. It rides much better. I'm definitely a believer in tuning suspension for your weight, riding style, and matching that up to the bike as well. My Stumpjumper Evo is very linear. Putting a larger spacer in gives it progression to bottom out which feels a lot better to me.
Great topic to bring up. I wasn't a fan of the shock that came on my bike so I ended up buying the same model shock from Dak Norton that was custom tuned for one of his race bikes and it's probably the best upgrade I've ever made to a bike.
@@PeterJamison It's a Rockshox SuperDeluxe off his Devinci Wilson. It has a high speed rebound tune with a check valve. I couldn't find a stock tune like this for heavy springs (600lbs+) anywhere. I've run it on multiple bikes since and It's amazing.
Yessir! Tempo content as promised. I’m a big tinkerer with suspension, this is an awesome video. Keep up the good work brotha, big things coming your way!
Another well done video. For the 1st time in my life I am all the way slow on both compression and rebound on my Fox x2 that came on my Clash. I would love to go a click or 2 slower on both compression and rebound. I have thought about getting a new shock but maybe I should send mine into Dirtlab?
Heck yeah dude! I have a local suspension tuner I will definitely give a shot once I finish my trail bike and see what I think of the shock, seems like a great way to get some added performance out of a fork or shock if your on once end of the adjustment and need more. One question not about suspension. What knee pads are you running under the pants? I ride with the Fox D30 Launch Edition and they are nice but a bit bulky. Seems like whatever you’re running is a lot slimmer.
For knee pads I run these: www.foxracing.com/product/launch-elite-knee-pads/28915.html?dwvar_28915_color=001&dwvar_28915_size=XS&cgid=protection-mtb they are great!
I am running 180mm Shimano XT Ice Tech rotors front and rear with XT 4 piston brakes front and rear. Bigger rotors manage heat better and offer more stopping power, hence why there are commonly bigger front rotors on bikes as most of your stopping more is in your front wheel. Hope this helps!
The Tempo is 125mm rear, and either 140mm or 150mm front. Bike rides amazing and feels more capable than you would assume for 125mm rear travel! I haven't rode the new Jeffsy, but I would assume that the Tempo pedals better due to the shorter rear travel. Hope this helps 🤙
@@PeterJamison thanks for the quick reply! I also run 130mm in the rear and 140mm in the front, and I am also about to try 150mm in the front. Keep the videos coming! Great content!
@AbrahamBarberi I switched out my 36 to a 38, and went up 10mm from 160 to 170mm. I really like having the extra travel and the little bit of slackness it seems to add.

Glad to hear you have the Float X feeling right for you and your bike! Thanks for watching the video!

Love to hear it! Which bike was it for?

what rotors/size you using? is there a big different for the rear rotor in size/group? I have a 160 mm SLX rear and 203 XT on the front...

Is that 125-130mm of travel? And does it ride good and worth it compared to 140mm?
And should I go with a carbon jeffsy or a tempo ?

Are you running 130mm travel in the rear? If so, how much travel is in front? Thanks
I am running 125mm rear travel, with a 140mm fork. That said, I will be installing and testing a 150mm fork this week 🤘

I do horrible things to my shocks and forks, I refer to it as tuning this guy would probably say "butchering" 😅
Hey I'm on a budget 😂
😂😂 Thanks for watching!
