Did anyone else notice that he said the meet record was 2:13 and that every single runner there beat that? That is an amazing field of runners.
Tbh that's a pretty slow meet record 😂 but take nothing away from the fact this was an extremely fast race 🤠
I did think that. Like yeah the two that got dropped might look slow compared to the rest of the field, but they still beat the previous meet record.
Well that track just opened up this past year, so there haven’t been many races in it. This was actually the first “big meet” that’s it’s really had
@@claytonm4279 Unfortunately I am not as familiar with the sprints in Track as I am with other events (shotput). Does a newly laid track allow faster times?
@@culdhainmccallister6281 Whenever I go on a new track it feels faster, but that could just be a placebo effect. What I was saying though, is since that’s a new facility there haven’t been that many races. That’s why all of the runners broke the facility’s records.
Imagine breaking the meet record in the 800m and still losing by 10 seconds lol
And running dead last.
Man even with an unconventional running form she absolutely dominated. She’s only going to get better and faster can’t wait to see her on the big stage
idk her form is pretty similar to most kenyan women and some white women so not really unconventional
@@kaismithley6173 i would say most Kenyan runners have long loping strides and high leg drives with a significant forward lean in comparison to her stride which is done by super fast cadence (almost a shuffle), nonetheless an amazing performance by her!!!
@@sophiareich1429 that just comes with running faster though, minus the heel lift her arm carriage and stride length are pretty typical
She sits back on her hips, shortening her stride. Thus, she needs to work on her front side running mechanics. See Jessica Hull. ruclips.net/video/O2oC_HCs9fo/видео.html
@@dlawrengreen basically just work on forward lean and knee drive
Unattached has a great track team! 😅
Nobody gonna comment on how she evenly split an 800, W H A T how does one do that
Everyone on my team negative splits 800s and donavon brazier in his indoor world record negative split
@@jonathannorton2931 yes but generally when you're looking for a fast time the method all the pro runners use is a 2 second positive split, that's how rudisha broke the wr and that's how almost every record in the 800 is run, so even splits or negative splits are pretty atypical
@@kaismithley6173 .....A few years back I saw Reaven Rogers go out in 62 and come back in 58 for 2:00. That was the wildest thing I ever saw!
@@Bronxxxnyc that is the craziest negative split I have ever heard of in an 800, was it tactical or is that just how he ran it
@@kaismithley6173 .....Raevyn (a female) is the former Oregon Duck multiple 800m and 4x400m NCAA champion. Her race strategy is pretty much all over the map. In college she mostly was a second half runner. As a pro, I don't think I've seen her run 2 races the same way. I think she is just adjusting to racing world class athletes and haven't settled on a preferred race strategy yet.
Fast forward to 2:30 to start the race
Track is the best. Nobody blames a loss on the refs.
Yes...! same with swim (and every sport vs the time lolz)
Fr!
Except Mary Decker-Slaney (google it)
People own blame a win on PED's.
It's #3 all-time for U.S. high school girls which is fantastic. But the real story might end up being Sophie Gorriaran who ran 2:03.9. She is only a 15-yr. old sophomore. There could be great things coming from her in the next few years.
WOW! 😲 That's insane! 🤤 thanks for sharing😉
Both of them were also part of the u20 united relay team that broke the 30 year world record right?......I also think the other 2 relay girls that broke that record were also in this race. Anyways, Gorriaran was the Anchor, Whitaker was the third runner.
Both juliette and Sophia are great 800 runners for HS.
Love the 800m!!! Favorite event to watch 🍿 📺
Whittacker's range is amazing. Top 5 in the country in everything from the 800 to the 3200. Not a lot of elite 800 runners also qualify and compete at Footlocker outrunning most of the best XC runners in the country. Shes got a bright future.
True. These days it's more of 400-800 scene, so 800 to 3200 is amazing.
Favorite sport in the whole wide world
moving your legs as fast as possible for a determined distance or time?
It’s the music for me
She is a Smooth Operator!!! Looked as if she was gliding...
What a race...I may be wrong but her Dad was an awesome 800m runner too...Paul.
Correct. For brown i believe
@@missaamane8580 ah thanks for confirming I thought it was Villanova..ran NY State Champs and National Scholastics against him....solid dude then and now.
Watch out for Gorriarran. Incredible motor combined with great form. Only way to go is up for her.
Congrats.
what a performance these ladies are awesome
Awesome video
Great job by all. Incredible!
Awesome record.
The starter is a real trip
Olympic standard is 1.59.50 for 800m
This is U.S Olympic trial standard. Still impressive for someone so young. A future Olympian 2024 Paris 😊
Not to mention this is indoor which is slightly slower and early In the season, so plenty of improvement still there 😊
God bless her ❤️✝️
Watch out for the freshman Allison Ince 2:04:10 in the 800
Lane 3 and 4 totally in sink 1:35
How did you notice that? Maybe they were hopping to the beat of the music lol
@@x-x101 idk haha it caught my eye
go sophie!
Wish they'd show ages or class (junior, senior, etc.)
Saw Jackie set hs record at EIU indoor meet when running for e st Louis hs
She was as fast in the second 400 as in the 1st.
Most “higher level” 800 meter runners run the second half of the race faster than the first.
sophia was only a sophmore... whittaker was a senior... sophia made the olympic trials too later with her outdoor times. she is just starting her senior season now... she has all state records already and even in cross country. she is amazing... ran a 1.25.22 in the 600m penn relays last season and almost broke the national record in that, held by athing mu.. .she came in 4th against all former olympians. so talented
All kinds of adults walking around without masks. Insane.
You watched this awesome performance and this is your comment?
Lots of sheeple wearing masks that are worthless.
she'll be in the 1:50's soon.
starts at 2:35
? Indoor has Olympics?
No but she ran an Olympic standard time, meaning her time was fast enough for her to compete in the Olympic trials later this year. And if she places top three or four at the trials she'll be able to compete at the actual Olympics in the summer.
@@natechurboy6057 she ran a indoor time. Reasons they separate the 2.
Great to see America, pushing forward with it's new birth of freedom, well done.
Whittaker is the real deal. Surely she's looking at colleges and has offers. Where is she going?
Better than my high school indoor personal record, I'm impressed.
😮
“Unattached” does that mean they don’t have a boyfriend?
means they dont run for a track club
@@coldclaws2479 it was a rhetorical question.
Va high school athlete?
She's from Maryland
@@pDrplt okay, I was wondering how a Virginia track athlete was running as unattached, against VHSL rules to do so during the indoor or outdoor season.
@@mikenixon5936 Currently we, (MPSSAA to be exact), do not have an indoor season due to the cancellation of fall/indoor sports. But if students choose to run for a club or completely unattached and unaffiliated with any program; they are able to do so. Whittacker competes at a private school Mt De Sales Academy here in MD. Most of the athletes you see, running in states that cancelled HS sports will be running unattached or for a club team
@@pDrplt that is fine and I never said any different, I was speaking to the VHSL rules concerning athletes competing as unattached during their indoor or outdoor season. I do not know what the rules are for Md athletes.
@@mikenixon5936 I'm not aware of the rulings in VA - are indoor sports going on as scheduled or was the season cancelled?
Would have broken 2 minutes without having to hear that trash ass music all race. Well done.
Do you think it distracted them?
I’m against feminist movement as it destroys both men and women, and against the lie of equal pay. Here we have a girl that has amazing gift and works hard, not to prove herself but to do what she loves. She will go far. I would pay to watch her run. She already runs faster than 90% of boys her age and over 70% of boys older. Keep doing your thing!!!!!!

Wait ti'll TRANS join the Girls category...
??
Why are so many people with their face covered like monsters?
Fun fact: Boy's high school 800m record is 25 years old [1996] at 1:46. And even before that as a non top 20 state runner I ran faster than all these girls by a lot.
All the more reason to keep the protections designed into Title IX , don't you agree?
You dont need a RUclips comment section to boost your ego. These girls did amazing
race starts at 2:35 for anyone here for a race
Saw this in person she was moving 😭👏🏾
Wow great race!
And as much as I poke at Flotrack they got this one out fast, not September 2023
Bruh yall watch out for Sophia. She gon go crazy soon
She already is! That young lady is phenomenal
fr the way she also won the 500m and anchored their 4x8 after this
The fact that I ran against Whittaker at a meet is crazy
Hey, fellas! Can I ask you something? Can you take off the masks? If you notice, the competitors are no wearing one and they are ok. Grow up!
Big congrats
Anyone else see the two girls jump at the same time!!!
