WOW! awesome illustrations! nice installation video. I am thinking about doing this on my 15" powermatic which is very similar. This will be very helpful.
good totorial, could you please provide seller info where from you ordered cutter head? Also question how you mesured cutter head axis dimensions as old one was still installed? Or those heads/axis goes like standart size and no need mesure them?
This brand is only sold in China. As far as I know, a small number of products are sold in Russia, Australia, Germany through agents. Here's the link to my purchase:hisimen.taobao.com/search.htm?spm=a1z10.5-c-s.0.0.56473134r3zg1V&search=y I didn't measure the diameter of the planer cuter header because my planer itself offers both straight and spiral knife options, so I thought I might get the parts for the spiral cutter head separately from the seller. Therefore, I bought the spiral head is completely matched with my planer.
About to do this upgrade on my 20" thicknesser, this will be me guide, I didn't realise it would be this complex though and I don't have some of those tools to remove the parts from the shafts. I notice you don't have dust extraction - do you find it clogs your rollers up? Also SimCity music?
I just have a shop vac but no dust extraction for this job. This is a potential but infrequent problem that you said, but this often happens on rubber out feed roller. The problem that sawdust sticks to the rubber roller can cause wood chips to be pressed onto the wood to leave an indentation. Maybe because my steel roller, so it has not happened yet. However, there is also a problem that the very fine anti-slip groove on the steel out feed roller will be transferred to the wood(Especially soft wood). But i think a dust extraction is necessary. Yes, background music is one of the tracks from simcity 5
Hi Yiyong - this is definitely helpful, however I'm wondering if you might have any suggestions about how I might go about getting the gears out of the gear housing if they don't just fall out like yours did. I can't seem to get access properly to the hex gear that I need to remove to replace the cutterhead. Thanks!! See the image for reference. https ://i. imgur. com/dR45ZtH.jpg
