i listen to StP around the house, and 2 weeks ago my niece’s daughter asked me to play them. i looked at my nephew and said “did this 4 year-old just come home from preschool and ask me, unprompted, to listen to slaughter to prevail?” he nodded and i said “i’ve never been more proud” 😂 we’re now taking her to see them live in May 🤘🏻💜

To think he's gone on record that what he does with STP isn't the most technical he's ever gotten. His band BEFORE STP, he says, was way more technical on drums, but he's comfortable with where they are now.

Yes Evgeny plays with his sticks inverted so he plays on the fat end giving him MASSIVE power. Alexs voice is that big, he needs no mic. You can hear clear through the arena. You dont understand how much power u need to have to do tjat. Evgevnys speed is insane. Alexs voice us so beefy. His mids are crazy. Him, Dickey Allen and of course Will Ramos are just all next level. Slaughter is breaking big and will be the best Deathcore band in in exsistence today. Big things are coming for Slaughter to prevail. I met the band when they played in Harrisburg and Alex is one the most genuine, sweetest guys, the pics, the autographs on my masks....Alex did it all with a genuine smile and care. Their shows are Slayer level CRAZY.
Alex is not only a badass but he's also a fucking sweetheart with a great sense of humor.
He has a video where he remade "Livin' la Vida Loca" wearing a pink fur parka featuring a beautiful American bull terrier who he's singing about lol
Epic reaction. Slaughter to prevail is actually very calculated with music. Way more to it than growls & mosh pits.
To us metalheads, the intensity and crowd energy, even getting injured is therapeutic. I leave a show, sweaty and bloody, but I feel relieved of all stress. You get it all out.
I have never been in a moshpit that we go hard but dont take care of one another!

Alex is a beast just like all the other front men and ladies. Don't get too caught up on the ground and just get caught up on all the nuances that he has to it's going to be epic and I think you might like the song. Group
Alex and the band moved to Florida because of the Russian Ukraine war and did a song about it called 1984
Evgeny is one of the Best Hard Hitting drummer and he holds his sticks backwards to get that extra power. I did it a lot too when I was in metal bands throughout my teens & twenties. My forearms are jacked from it lol He is one of the best drummers in metal today! The whole band is incredible!

I saw them live in Greensboro NC at Hangar 1819, a venue that can hold 500-600 people tops. They had the WHOLE VENUE moshing and circle-pitting.
And yes, Alex Terrible absolutely can be heard at the back of the venue, no mic, over the music.

You did see correct. The drummer does play the drums using the back of the sticks. And i can say for a fact that playing with the back of the sticks gives it a deeper and heavier sound.

I think you’re now ready to check out some Deviloof. They’re amazing and from Japan. Look up the songs: Torture, Damn, Libido, and Newspeak to start.
It's typical of Death Metal and Deathcore guys being teddy bears IRL. Alex is one of the nicest guys ever. He'll actually hug people, give kids high-fives, etc. Great guy who gives ZERO F*cks. Will Ramos of Lorna Shore is the same way. He basically lived with Elizabeth from Charismatic Voice for a few days and schooled her husband in table tennis (or at least tried). The thing a lot of people in that community believe is that the catharsis of letting out all of your aggression in a safe and caring environment makes the stresses of life more bearable, so they're a lot more chill as a result. Factor in that Alex likes to draw attention to the absurdities of modern living (check out Bonebreaker to get a look at what he thinks of big government, or '1984' to see how he feels about the war in Ukraine), and he does it very well.
Still waiting on him to decide to drop a full gym album. I'd actually get a gym membership if he did that.
EDIT: I'm also super excited for the new album when that comes.

If you want the same energy with less of the harsh vocals I'd highly recommend Hatebreed - Destroy Everything or To the Threshold. I think you'd really enjoy the message of the music as well. Also it's Alex Terrible, no "the" :) Check out some of his covers they are fucking hilarious and check out his version of BFG Division, for which he wrote the lyrics but the song was composed by the incomparable Mick Gordon for the Doom soundtrack.
Please check out any of the first 3 albums by "Heart of a Coward", the vocalist is the ex "Sylosis" vocalist, incredible man! and HOAC will give you the chills man!
"Distance" is one of my fave songs, but I love tons of them, start early with tracks like "all eyes to the sky", or any of those first 4 tracks from Hope and Hindrance.

I think you need time and practice to enjoy this kind of music, with few exceptions. For example growing up with this kind of music, becaue of your parents listening to it. When I started out listening to heavier Metal, bands like Killswitch Engaged got me used to metal screams, but i didn´t like songs without clean vocals then. Nowadays it is actually the other way round. If there are clean vocals, they better not be boy band vocals but at least something like Howard Jones grown up man vocals for me to enjoy. Or of course female leads like in Jinjer.
And about the mood. People enjoy music in different situations in different ways. For me, music needs to be able to push me in the gym the same way as it relaxes me in the evening to fall asleep easier. Like many others, I fall asleep listening to SLP or similar bands when I have my headphones on lying in bed or even on the sofa. I actually do not listen to bands, if I can´t fall asleep to their music.

I love slaughters music a lot, but one thing I can never get over is Alex terrible having nazi tattoos on him. Yes he covered up two of them, but he still has the nazi black sun on his foot.
