Making a Tudor Kirtle!

  • Any good outfit needs to build on a solid foundation, and for Tudor costumes that means a kirtle! Follow along as I create a white wool kirtle to match the Norwegian January snow!
    Materials:
    White wool: bought from a friend
    Linen: Selfmade.no
    Synthetic whalebone: historiskmote.no
    Time: 53 hours

      Well, have watched this 3 times now - I found the site, I have the linen and wool, lacing and 'bones' - all ready to copy you, but I bet I won't look quite so beautiful. X

    Morgan Donner does a Really easy draped kirtle, I’ve always wanted to make it because it’s so simple but I don’t have a dress form 😢

      I made my own dress form using a pattern from bootstrap (I think), some scrap fabric and a couple of cheap pillows! That’s worth a shot?

      @@ThePetticoatedSwashbuckler oh really? I guess it’s not a hard project if you have good instructions!
      I was going to attempt Morgan’s DIY dress form (filler foam & plaster) but I don’t think I’d do it well lol 😂
      Edit: Thankyou 👏🏼👏🏼🥰🥰so much! I just bought a dress form pattern from where you suggested and cant wait to start it!! Oh there are so many things I’ve wanted to drape!!
