@@josephgarcia7030 we didn't need to because we had a good relationship with the humans before that: we showed them the beauty and wonders of our forest, helped them if they got lost, and in return they provided us with the wonders they made! (I absolutely adored the backed goods ms. Gertrude gave us when we were still young, I miss her so dearly...) Yes, we would pull pranks on each other from time to time, but it was all in lighthearted good fun where everyone laugh right after!

I once caught a gnome in my hand, or so i thought, having chased him nobly through the Forest Perilous, yet upon opening my palm he lept forth with a poof of gnomish magick and turned me into a toadstool and then lept upon me and used me as a trampoline for hours before he left me, cackling madly and calling me a "silly, stupid, soldier shroom", which still hurts my feelings to this day. After resigning my fate to be a toadstool for the rest of my knightly life, the enchantment wore off and grew back into a human, naked as the day i was born. And, if it please your honors, his friends had run off with all my armor and clothing. Oh what disgrace was upon me when I returned to town and all the maidens laughed at me. Curse you, you rascally gnomes, the forest will not hide you forever!

Dragon here. My kobolds found this and haven't stopped playing it since, despite me telling them to stop. Every time I tell them, they stop using the thing they were to play it and find something new to do so. I don't know where they found the last contraption, but they're getting increasingly amusing. This reminds me of the first time I went to the Gnome Bar. I ordered my first ever drink, Tree Sap. One sip and I was knocked out cold, and I soon woke up trapped in a cage at the back of one of those long, human vehicles. Good times.

As a local unknowable beast from the woods, hearing the gnomish folk bust out their mushroom record players to play such lovely music makes the woods all the more brighter. The fae might complain, but all they know is seductive humming and high pitched wails. They know not of the gnome's proper melodies!
According to the montage, lady Liberty, the 10 feet tall woman that is said to lead french peasants riots, is a gnome.
A giant gnome, if you will.

I came across a village of Gnomes the other day, about fifty living in a huge and gnarled willow tree hanigng over a small stream. Small wooden homes decorated the branches, the trunk, and all around the base. Indeed, they were frightened of me, and of my great height. They poked my boots with needles and small spears, for it seems I had stepped on one of their fields of rice that they grew. Ever remourseful, I reached into my backpack and handed them a small bag of bread that I keep always on hand. The rest of the day, I dug out with my fingers new fields that they could use, and helped to make a small irrigation channel from the stream. It was nice, and we left on good terms.
I think I'll go back with some water. Its so hot these days, I'm worried their little stream has dried up.

All this time I wanted to experience the exquisite melody of such music but I never could for I was just a tall-man in a small world, however, after releasing the unbridled whimsy within me I have successfully transformed into a gnome and now me and the gnomies all gather round the fire within the mystical forest and listen along to such a masterpiece.

wizard here, hoping to catch that pesky gnome hoarding all of my forest's mystical weeds by luring him in with the native jigs. HA! that quarterling will never see the cardboard box held up by only a suspiciously propped up stick with a string attached!

The thorny thistles, and brambly bristles, flavourful figs, and tiny twigs, the reeds that ramble, and the weeds of that most mystical sort are not yours to take. They are of the forest's make.
You give not the birds a whisper or whistle, you give not the dogs even your gnarliest gristle, not a single carrot to the pigs, never a song of thanks and hearty jig, you take and take with your wizardly greed, making you a nasty sort indeed. The weeds are not yours to take, and so I've purloined your fresh carrot cake.
Remember Wizard, it is not just your tower in our great green home, neglect no longer your neighbourly gnome. Give to the forest for giving's sake, then perhaps the mystical weeds can be yours to take.

Not really, in gnomeish, heck, even in most mixed species communities outside the United humand empires nobody has ever heard of gnomeries, because things like growing edible plants oustside of your property, casting Various gnomish cantrips without a permit and other “gnomeries” are just a normal part of life!
