Seriously Charged Volley is super OP I managed to beat Hades while being careless and with a build I thought wasn’t even decent (save for Artemis special crit). Mind you this is from a no heat run and two death defiance
Could be either: the game does allow you to "save" a seed by hitting Give Up in a run. You can then copy the savefile to utilize the same start over and over, you can then try to control and manipulate the seed of that but it's extremely difficult (the seed changes based on actions you take as well as uncontrollable events like voicelines). There is also a mod that simply lets us pick what we get in the first chamber in case we want to experiment.
It was patched, oh. Dang I just started 2 weeks ago and I got into Elysium on my 8th run with charged volley. I tried it again today and knew it felt different.
Seeds in Hades don't work like most other roguelites: the seed changes after each room depending on certain actions so while it's possible to carry a seed to the end, it's extremely difficult (some speedruns do this). Typically, you fall off any given seed "path" after the first or second chamber.
The thing I want to know, is how does he know all of this info about builds? How does he know what you can/can't take to get certain effects, how does he have all this info about pool manipulation?
He has over 100,000 darkness after unlocking everything. He's played an innumerable amount of runs that makes even semi-hardcore players like me who are approaching their 100th run and 80th win look like a toddler on their first day of pre-school
Lots of hours and runs. I started playing Hades around Jan 2019 in very early access and basically haven't stopped since. A lot of folks from the speedrunning community have helped by investigating game files and informing all of us about some of the inner workings of the game too!
Hey Haelian, I just started using LiveSplit so I can start trying my hand at speed running. How do you set up your hotkeys? Is there an auto split option, or are you manually splitting?
Manual splitting. I believe he uses some way so he presses select button to start and split the timer. I've heard other people uses global hotkey and set it on spacebar
Hey there! Happy to hear you're joining us. I set my split to Left shoulder button (I think I had to rebind one button from the game) but some people like setting it to spacebar. I had to get another program called Global Hotkeys for it.
Faster runs (extreme measures 2 for smaller hydra space and forced overtime for faster enemy spawn and move), although surprised he didn’t use the limited time one
Some good answers below but I'll respond also: Extreme Measures 2 makes the Lernie fight a little faster, Forced Overtime will make enemies spawn faster. When trying to keep the in game timer down, we dont use Tight Deadline because that disables survival rooms which pause the timer (not sure why). Some speedrun categories go for real time which means you wouldn't want to see survival rooms.
Bow is only aspect I did not escape with. It feels awkward, weak and slow. Seems I am using shit builds but I escapes over a dozen times with all kind of crap except anything bow related The only thing I didn't do yet is cast build with bow. But at that point it will be just gimped cast build not bow. Hera is worst weapon ever
Chiron is the best bow aspect. Get artemis special. When you find hammers, look for piercing volley and the one that gives +4 arrows. The game is easy mode. I didnt a couple of runs with chiron and only had a special boon, its definitely doable. Ive gotten up to 18 heat using Chiron like this. Rama is my 2nd favorite, especially when you get double shot.
@@williamvandyke4658 well I finally did bow escape. By just doing a special+cast focused build. I think my problem was not using special and instead trying regular attack. Bow overall just feels bad and awkward to me Hera run I actually quit in the middle because how badly it feels to me My fav cast base is achilles spear. All in all I think it's all just about taste. I prefer quick melee gloves or sword based builds. Spear is ok. Gun feels interesting but not really comfortable to play. And bow I just hate
@@maxb5640 yeah, the bow attack feels weird unless you play with it a bunch. I almost always take the hammer that removes the charge-up if I can find it; turns the playstyle into something closer to the spear.
Bow is one of my fav weaps.
Thanks for showing what're actually GOOD for a bow build.
7:19 when you learn that using your summon at the right time can straight up avoid damage. Huh.
Wow, I never knew about that
It also used to remove some projectiles in flight (like bothers' bombs), which could help with the same.

man plz make more guides, like i know how to play the game and shit but i liked the build ideas and what hammers/ boons you like for each aspect
When you guys talk about seeded runs, is there a mod? Or is it just save manipulation?

what'd you think about hammer upgrade, focused fire: make the special spread smaller with x bonus damage
You skipped the good shade! :(
Neat run though
I'm blaming you for the bow special being nerfed in today's patch ;)
AMMIIIIIRRRR

15:30 am I going insane or is that the wrong cutscene?!?!
I think you crazy
Why Hera tho and not Zag bow for more crit? You are using your special only anyways.
Good point
zag doesnt crit with specials right.. only regular attacks
@@dante19890 ah yeah so if you never attack it doesn't matter
He went Hera because early the cast damage > zags crit.
Zag aspect only adds crit to your attack, not your special I'm afraid.
Is there something special you did to get the hammer as the first boon ?
I just got concentrated + charged volley post bow special nerf and can confirm it's still absolutely busted
11:57 how did you know you had a hermes coming up? great run by the way have never even tried charged volley
and do you have to do something special to use meg during hades, i cant but i only have her and skelly unlocked
@@jbinnerpeace Probably a seeded run, and yes, just keep beating Hades and progressing the story.
Just because I knew we had only gotten 1 Hermes boon so far and you're practically guaranteed to get 2 before styx (although you can avoid him).

Meg on Hades is a very late game work order.

The compendium also lists prerequisites nowadays. Can check the boon list for each god. I've found that pretty helpful.
Can you get charged volley with chiron's aspect?
You cannot unfortunately (would probably be too good).
Why do you use any heat on an any% speedrun?
Forced Overtime makes enemies spawn faster and Extreme Measures 2 lets the Hydra heads spawn closer together.
Hey Haelian, I just started using LiveSplit so I can start trying my hand at speed running. How do you set up your hotkeys? Is there an auto split option, or are you manually splitting?
He may have a pedal, not too sure.
Manual splitting. I believe he uses some way so he presses select button to start and split the timer. I've heard other people uses global hotkey and set it on spacebar

Balans confirmed.

Probably a requirement for the speed run leaderboard I'm guessing
Limited time disables thanatos and something else which bad for igt.
@@doodlecrazydc Correct, Thanatos and Survival Rooms. The rooms where Hades says "Let's see you survive this" and counts down from 45 seconds.

I do not, I dont feel like it offers a different enough experience from normal right now.
