Haven't watched the video in full yet but there was some talk on Reddit a week or 2 ago about how the spin destroys all projectiles on screen when you start it for all spear aspects. It sadly doesn't work on Switch but I was hoping it might show up in a Haelian video at some point.
@@appleplease64 Switch version is the same as PC (and all other consoles) just FYI. Not certain what they mean, spear spin doesn't really do that unless they mean that one hammer that I can't remember the name of (definitely doesn't do the whole screen, just a small AoE around Zag).
The biggest drawback of the Guan Yu aspect is that it blows your switch speakers with the special. Those fireworks sound like your smoker uncle gargling static.
It's insane how good Battle Rage is with Guan Yu. Best of all is that you could get Doom on the attack to help with some hit-and-run health recovery moments, depending on the heat.
@@HerMi.T they’re alright. I haven’t poured all 500 hours required to get them maxed out but found myself just wanting to cast normally too often anyways. Powerful yes. My thing? Nah.
Re: the cagey wageys on job listings-I’ve read that it’s a power play against people on unemployment, to pressure them into accepting low wages. If you list the exact wage people on unemployment can dismiss a job listing out of hand, but if you hook them into the interviews with the “maybe” of a decent wage, you can offer them anything and as long as it doesn’t objectively contradict the listing, they have to accept it or they’ll lose their unemployment benefits anyway.
Now this I have to see. I'd easily rank Guan Yu as the worst weapon aspect in the game. Decreasing both starting health and increases to max health is nasty, and the weapon is as slow as molasses which is a terrifying combination of awful. I've generally written it off even for 0 heat runs because it's so slow, I'd prefer another weapon anyway without even considering the health limitations. Like, yes, I made it all the way to Hades with it on my main (and only) save file for the minor list of prophecies, but even fully maxed out, it seems too trash to beat regular Hades or even consistently reach him because 50% max health alone is brutal without even considering that it is also on a weapon aspect that slow. Maybe, I just don't understand how to use it properly, and this video will open my eyes to its potential. EDIT: I see the problem now. I tried to play it the same was I would any other spear and use the attack a lot. The special seems quicker and certainly can be quite strong. I'm still not crazy about the health, but I think I have a better feel for how to effectively use Guan Yu's moveset.
I can't disagree that Guan Yu's downside is pretty massive. Like most things in Hades, it CAN be powerful with the right hammers but if those don't appear, it's gonna be a rough time.
It is obvious that they thought that healing + normal health was too good, but debuff would be much better if for example you take 100% more damage 1 second after sending spin attack. It still nerfs healing, but not other aspects of spear, which get heavily punished by health reduction
i found a harmless glitch with the way the mirror punishment works weapons in the training room. if you have the 3 bloodstones, activate the punishment that lowers the tiers of mirror things, switch weapons(for example hera) and then remove that punishment, and you'll have 5 bloodstones instead of 3, and all 5 work as intended. is it useful? not in the slightest bc it resets when you change weapons and start your run. its just kinda fun imo bc you can see what a super basic cast-focused build looks like with 5 casts.
I'm somewhat beginning (heat 4 to 5 on most weapons) and Guan Yu broke my 15 win streak. Died to Theseus, to make it worse (Zag even commented on this: Ugh, losing to Theseus...). However, my Guan Yu isn't max level so the health penalty is harsher. I probably screwed myself over trying to overuse the spin to heal. Nice to see it working, will give another try later when I max it!
When I worked at Coca-Cola they gave us turkeys one year and management wouldn’t work out how to get them to the employees in the field. At one point my boss told another guy to “shove those turkeys up your ass”
Honesty I would've been fine with health decrease if the life drain was a percentage thing. Like instead of+1 hp it was 1%. But I also recognize why it's not like that.
Does anyone have any tips for PS4 controller button layouts? I know it's just preference, but I am curious what other people think. I've been liking Dash on L1, attack on R1.
when i use beowulf or hera, i bind the cast to L1 when i use rail, i bind the reload to L1

I am a firm believer in putting primary attacking commands on shoulder buttons. Not just in Hades, but in any game where you need to move fast and press lots of buttons. The default layout forces your right thumb to do almost all of the work by itself, which just needlessly slows you down. Instead, I put dash on X, attack on R1, special on R2, cast on L1, reload on circle. This way your dashing is completely independent from your attacking. Summon, interact, and codex can all be relocated to less spam-friendly positions.
If it wasn't for that health cap i would play Guan Yu all the time, the moveset is so good
The health cap, and the fact that Achilles' is always just right there next to it.
Ya I think the health deficit is just a bit harsh.

With Guan Yu being completely broken silly in Smite, and my main in Hades, the warlord is getting a lot of video game love currently

Charges skewer with shattered shackle at the start is so op, then battle rage 200 % is just filthy. Love that build. Tough at high heat though.

Funnily enough, my first spear win was with Guan Yu. One of few times i enjoyed/felt satisfied with dio builds.
DIO!?!?!??
DIO BUILDS!!!???
I need to know the build now
Then you don't try chiron build or using it's trippy flare on Beowulf shield with stygian soul.

the coast song from hades is fucking beautiful and the 'winedark sea' sunrise we see is just such a perfect homage to homer
I feel you bro
I feel like the nerf to health rewards is unnecessary for guan yu. It should just be a nerf to starting health like an inverse of Arthur sword.
I recently found out Achilles spear + crystal beam is INSANE because of the 150% cast bonus! Definitely try it out sometime!
on 15 heat, I used the dash attack 3 times on guan yu, it was my record time of 11 minutes, that is imba

If it capped at - 30% HP, I might have considered using it.
I thought the exact same thing, 30% would still be a very noticeable deficit but WAY more manageable than 50%
Guan yu was the only aspect I ever used dark regeneration for since it can heal already.
It is obvious that they thought that healing + normal health was too good, but debuff would be much better if for example you take 100% more damage 1 second after sending spin attack. It still nerfs healing, but not other aspects of spear, which get heavily punished by health reduction
When you play a high damage special based run and you dont desperately check the bouldy bonus. Thats when you know you’ve played too much lol.
So what would be two or three good examples of a spin build? I've never had a great time with guan yu
It's ancient I admit but the game hasn't changed since this video still ruclips.net/video/u1YxlO9B97Y/видео.html

How to play Guan Yu?
Play Achilles
Would Zagreus take on Lu Bu?
wait, does the game offer 5 gods or did I miss something? Artemis, Afro, Dio, Demeter and the poseidon right?
You usually get 4 gods per run but it's possible to get more via keepsakes or shops early on.
The outro of this vid brought me to laugh-tears. Holy crap. That was hilarious.
Curious why you use Gods' Pride rather than Gods' Legacy. Do you find a lot of the Duos and Legendaries to not be worth it?

Guan Yu's special hits harder and you don't have to recall the spear as well. Works and feels differently.
